i almost always used open cockpits and won. i was a sniper and i would take people out before they got in range to hit me or simply dodge theire bullets. just cause your pit isnt open doesnt mean your gonna win.

I have an open pitted sniper on quads and I can Kill almost anyone 1 on 1, only i think its a scorp whrer you just stick the weapons out and it works quite well

I agree with ya. I made a commander with a real low profile, had the NA facing backwards with an open pit low to the ground. For anyone using a guarded pit, you just aim for their legs and once those are broken keep hitting them and kill their pit that way!

there are two popullar methods.

-Using spacers and armor to cover your cockpit so they absorb the damage first, or...

-surrounding your cockpit with weapons so snipers can't even find your pit

nice, i went in to a 3v3 and when we started i had my six banger and all three of the other guys had open cockpits... i got 3 one shots that day. o and zybix1 u are right good snipers go for the legs, BUT if you take the first shot and pop a front shield or a spacer then its ok to keep aiming at that, which is what it looked liked he was tryin to do

as it defeats the point of the game, rather than being tactical lets all just be invulnerable and run around in circles

that and, the Cameras are on the Weapons, if you want to blind them, take down the weapons

Well the front of my closed pit design i could very slightly see round the part that encloses it. Anyway the pit would have the gun camera in so you could actually see where you were aiming, so even with enclosed pit, you can see out anyway.

First of all I never have and never will claim to be a good sniper on CH. Secondly I have already replied to someone on here about my sniping in this vid. Third of all don't come here talking like you know your stuff, when your cannon build vid shows you missing acv's and tanks left right and centre, some of which are pretty much at your feet.

At first glance, a covered cockpit seems kind of silly, after all how could the pilot see anything? Well he doesn't need to, the guns have cameras ON them for the pilot to look through. Let me put it in another perspective: how many tanks do you see with big glass canopies? None, the drivers either look through a slit or through gun cameras.

The gun cameras give a narrow field of view. Just enough to see where the gun is firing. Not enough to see as much as You would using the cockpits window. Looking out of the Cockpit the pilot has a view range of about 180 degrees. Through the weapon cam, He has about 45 degrees of sight.

Thank you! My friend keeps arguing that you only need the cameras to see where you're going and aiming at. And I agree that the cockpit shouldn't be obstructed by anything, get too many newbs to do that and they instantly become the best fighters. I'm not sure if you know where I'm coming from, but I remember a time in mechanized combat where you didn't have the luxury of gun cams, but instead the nice feeling of being inside the cockpit of a battle machine. And I agree that the 360 needs a CH2.

It's more a sense of honor and originality to me, using an open cockpit to me, I just hate seeing everyone using the same builds like those with the tons of cannons or sniper cannons and hiding the cockpits. But either way good game.

i compleatly agree. there is actually a guy out there i know who still to this day will not hide his pit and he still wins vs people 80% of the time. If anything it takes MORE skill to win with a open pit (by the way the guys name is CriminalJoe if you ever see him give him props)

Yeah I'm surprised nobody mentioned this sooner. I'd been off xbox for a few days and it was only my 2nd or 3rd time using sc's I kept over compensating for the difference in velocity from sabres. There was an unhelpful amount of laughing so much i was crying which didnt help either.
