I lost someone, and Lord it almost killed me when I experienced that horrible feeling the first time. I did'nt know what James Brown was talking about when I was nine years old but I soon learned what he was talking about when it hit me from the blind side. Ounch !!!!!!!
JB produced this with his own $5,000 in funds as I understand because his label owner at Cincinnati's KING Records wouldn't drop a dime into the project. This has to be one of the best albums of all times, this is an icon in history that lays the groundwork for everything else JB, IMO, would do in the future. 1962, and bro Brown could not get radio airplay, the speaker attached outside the record shop is how we heard new records like this. When I look back, shame on America & thank you Europe.
Ive been searching for a james brown song for ages... can anyone help ? A sentence is repeated often " Its so hard " and then he talks about his horn player , and the souls of black people etc etc ... Its a live version i think . Cant find this piece anywhere...
i had a Residents version of this song actually a whole medley of songs from this record, made me go back a re-examine this period of JB.but i still like' Revolution of the Mind' the best although this is great shit.the foundation of the JB Thang.
My mother was at this '62 Apollo show, and brought me back one of those 8 x 10 autographed photos...and it was in color! I treasured that photo! I was about 8 or 9 then.
If I remember correctly, in his biography, James Brown said when he first went into Lost Someone, some screaming lady in the front row started ruining it and he panicked a little bit, but they did an instrumental bridge, then came back and did the 10 minute version. That's why if you get the Live at the Apollo CD, it lists Lost Someone twice.

This song is about twelve minutes long, why did you cut it short. You missed the best part of it.

on 10 12 2009 by Laercon . One can hear a longer time the beautiful exchange of screams
between James and his audience, both in love with each other and music

I went to see Iggy & The Stooges at the Hammersmith Apollo in London on 3/5/2010 and they had this playing before they came on stage. Awesome song.

So great, I've got both the 1962 and 1967 Apollo on CD, and it's fantastic music. A total thrill.
