Well, usually heavier is easier for flipping, but the Benchmade 4X series has a really good weight.

The reduction of wieght is more of a practicality thing. They're still amazing for flipping.

And I'm still trying to get one myself actually.

Eh... its illegal if your in public. I think you can still get one mailed to your house. If you get one I would recommend that you only use it for knife flipping. Its legal in public if you use it for self defense, an assisted arrest, if your an officer or other law enforcer, or your making an arrest.

its called anodization, Benchmade did it for him. usually to get that, you heat it up till it changes colours like that, or you could do electro anodization since its titanium

Balisongs are fun! When me and my brother were first learning how to use these, it was exciting to see who would draw first blood when they made a mistake lol... like one of us would say "look how fast i can do this!", and the other would not too long after that say "first blood!" haha.... Just a note. IMO, don't buy double edged butterfly knives. The blunt side is used for bouncing it off of your fingers while flipping around. Additionally, the latch is easily secured if you learn a little dexterity with your pinky when open, same with openning.

take case knives for example, a small 5 inch case knife (when opened, 3 inches of handle with about 2 inches of blade) can run up into the 100's because the handle may be made of a type of bone or pearl material.

thats one of the best butterfly knifes...very lightweight but very very strong at the same time. But the spring latch is the way to go, which they do have that modle with a spring latch.

That knife is strange and scary. I think I saw it in a movie once. And although I don't know anything else about it, we should definitely ban it. this one the benchmade 42. but with the spring latch. its the only one you will ever need. it brakes...you send it back and get a new one free. balisongs are fairly simple tools so the price will reflect quality. and its just safer to get a proper knife over a cheap one that will brake when you're playing with it.
