It was certainly unfair for me to generalize all muslims that way. But I still do think that theocracies and countries that enforce sharia law do lag behind quite a bit in terms of human rights.

@bloomingdedalus Yeah the US isn't a great example. I'm Canadian and we're a bit better, though we're certainly far from perfect as evidenced by past atrocities like residential schools. Don't lose hope entirely in humanity, most of us live our lives believing that what we're doing is right (except for some disturbed individuals). But power is intoxicating, once someone has obtained enough of it, they will pretty much do anything to keep it.
