Also, a few decades back, the U.S. became a buying nation rather than producing so other nations rely on our buying. We've lasted because we had a good economy before that and still had some business occuring within the U.S.. Something like that should only be temporary. Now we are a major buyer, but best thing would be to shift back to being more of a producer to increase the economy again. Doing that would help alot I'd think.
