  • Joy Division fanboys are worst than Radiohead fanboys. No, I'm not a fanboy just cause of my username.

  • @Radiohead4121 Lol. I'm a fan of both? Does that make me intolerable?

  • lol @ 2:56 keyboardist said fuck this.

  • The drummer dropped the tempo pretty quick

  • 楽しそうだな、高校生が初めてバンドやってるような、いい雰囲気

    特にジョニーの弾きっぷりが気持ちいい

  • Really, really good!

  • This is a great cover, I love the spin they put on it. But... let us all remember it's impossible to ever top the original. It simply can't be / won't be, done, ever. It's science.

  • The two greatest bands ever!

  • who sings this song? new order/joy division. let's keep it that way.

  • The only good cover of this song, period.

  • excellent ....

  • ok , I think the show Colin maybe once or twice, and why is Ed on a bass guitar??????

  • @radiodead74

Colin's on the electric guitar. ;) Maybe he just knows how to play the song.

  • @radiodead74 ed is playing really high on the fretboard and colin is in the pocket so it's just an extra layer methinks

  • damn they made it like their own

  • Luuuuvitt!!!

  • awesome

  • I love how he says story

  • there is no way anyone could possibly dislike this. 44 people are just attention-seeking.

  • one of few bands that can do any Joy Division classic justice. a wonderful rendition by the best band on earth.

  • these guys pwned the orig version..sorry its rh they own all

  • One of the few bands that has the right to cover JD - equally important and influential.

  • whoa Thom kinda looks like Peter Hook here

  • this is fn awesome!!

  • "Now what?" haha! Love it! Radiohead is the love of my life <3

  • who are the 44 imbeciles?

  • Anyone knows whether this song is called Ceremony? Thanks

  • @tatahaputy yeah

  • @tatahaputy Yep, sure is!

  • Actually I don't think there is any better band to adequately do Joy Division than Radiohead, they have been a huge gift for the last 20 years, proof that the music business hasn't entirely gone to shit.

  • Wow, finding one of my favourite bands covering one of my fave tunes by a non favourite band is a very rare treat. A very good, if straight, cover.

  • I'd kill and die for Joy Division. Radiohead does them right on this cover.

  • My favorite bands! (Radiohead/Joy Division) love New Order also

  • love both bands.....good cover

  • I don't care what any of you haters say, this was a damn good cover of a great song!

  • is everybody in? the ceremony is about to begin...

  • This was pretty bad.

I've still only ever heard one band do a decent Joy Division cover, and it wasn't NIN or Radiohead.

    (NIN's "Dead Souls" is boring)

  • @Blackmilk81 Bollocks.

  • Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. Only two bands capable of covering Joy Division.

  • Damn good cover.

  • this is awsum ...love it ...the best of britain !

  • I love radiohead, and i remember joy division,

the only thing missing here is a tortured soul!

  • Thom Yorke sounded just like Michael Caine at the start when he was talking...

  • Joy Division and Radiohead if you can't relate to this I feel bad for you.

  • Thom's manifestation of Ian Curtis' voice is O_O

  • THAT MOMENT WHEN THOM STARTS SINGING 8===D~~~~

  • ive been listening to joy division, new order, and radiohead since i was a freshman in high school. Now seeing this 4 years later really brings back good memories and seeing one of my favorite artists cover another amazing bands song.

  • I found it better than the original, this sounds way lot clearer

  • Comment removed

  • @vikolins the song is from final 1979. this is the new decade...don't u think that's obvious??!? that doesn't make the cover better

  • @Thesagga Yeah, I know, bute the original recording was all messed up IMO unlike other JD songs :~

  • Thom is AH-mazing!

  • accettabile 7+

  • And now, you , yes you fan's radiohead, listen " live me alone "from NEW ORDER to learn.

  • if i didnt already know this was radiohead i wouldnt recognise them. respect for them been joy division fans.

nice to know thom gets joy division, although id expect nothing less.....

  • probably one of my most cherished pieces of music

  • I wonder why ed's on bass and colin is nowhere to be found...

  • This is genuinely brilliant. Blimey.

  • 3:05 - 3:45 you listen to the heartbeat of guitar

  • Of course it's not better than the original. But its RADIOHEAD COVERING JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER. If you really don't understand the brilliance in that, you have a problem in/with life. Anyway, this is amazing.

  • @torontoshows I'd say it's better than the original because I like Thom's voice better than Ian's

  • @torontoshows

Who could replace Ian Curtis, except Thom Yorke ?

  • @tetane32 from the vocal range perspective Thom is less adequate because he is in an entirely different vocal range; he is tenor while curtis was a baritone/bass. Alex turner would be far more appropriate imo

  • fantastic

  • Is sound like Stuart Lee speaking at the start

  • I don't mind Radiohead but this just fell flat, for me anyway. I suppose growing up with the original may colour my view somewhat.Agree with axoma82, more bass.

  • Great cover of another great band

  • Only just seen this, actually really good! The bass needs to be more prominent though!

  • Wow!!! I loved it

  • I see he wanted to cover Bernard's out-of-tune singing style as well.

  • This is with Thom Yorke's voice in tune, eh!

  • trite (sorry)

  • Thom's a complete master of his voice

  • Colin had the day off, it seems.

  • Best-cover-EVER!

  • Su...fucking...perb

  • this is rad!!!!!!!!

  • Not a song to play when you are drunk. A lot of the songs should be played drunk, but never this one, with the profound soundness that only the most sober mind could understand.

  • i think they have done a good job of it.

  • I miss you Ian!

  • joy division had such an influence of many many bands. here you see on of the bests. its a honour. nothing more nothing less.

  • @tlowranceteeth Lol. Radiohead fans don't seem to understand trolls.

  • Very nice cover.

  • A pretty darn good cover.

  • I clicked this video cause I thought I would listen and have a good laugh, but I actually love this cover. Best Joy Division cover I ever heard.

  • @spinct83 You will never find a cover by Radiohead that is ridiculous! They are serious musicians, not a motley teenage band!

  • <3

  • My father once interviewed Joy Division. Now I feel like I have a connection to Radiohead.

  • @HugoEno1 If i reply to your comment, does that count too?

  • @GolfLikeWoods ofcourse

  • Comment removed

  • not monotone enough, i dislike

  • @YellowNBoy lol

  • YEAH.. radiohead covered beautiful! ! good job.. :)

  • they rock this song so damn good

  • hmmm, not bad at all... still prefer Joy Division's (The louder one from still is probably my favourite), Galaxie 500's and then New Order's. Not bad at all though, in fact, pretty good.

  • Ha ha ha I saw Thom's underwear

  • oh wow. this got be back into indie rock. i love radiohead <3

  • Where's Colin??

  • @simoncalder10 In the bathroom

  • 2 Bass Guitars or what is Colin playing?

  • @Nirvaaanaa I'm pretty sure he's playing a telecaster.

  • I really really dislike Radiohead (which is just a matter of opinion) but I think this is great. As do I appreciate that they are talented.

  • tight tight tight!

  • brent459 got tired of masturbating so he decided to troll youtube pretending to know fuck all about music.

  • this is a wee gem!

  • @brent45928 Well anybody who knows the slightest thing about music would know that Radiohead are one of the most musically talented bands on the planet. Which indicates that you know shit all about music.

  • Oh no, what will I ever do.

  • @brent45928 <<< Troll detected. Please, don't feed!

  • I know enough to know they suck!

  • @brent45928 No brent, you suck.

  • <3

  • @brent45928 what no this is an awesome tribute to an awesome band from an awesome band!

  • @brent45928 I'm sorry but you've just called Radiohead shitty. You must know nothing about music whatsoever.

  • I don´t know why always Radiohead's cover have more views than the original videos =S ... I hate that!

  • I wonder what other covers they do when theyre just hanging around in the essays. But im absolutely sure that covers must be fantastic.

  • A brilliant tribute.

  • Bloody good! X

  • è belllissima!!!

  • quite simply one of the best covers iv ever heard

  • quite simply one of the best covers iv ever heard

  • LOVE!

  • I would say what an honour it would be for radiohead to play one of your bands songs, but in this case, radiohead are lucky to play joy division.

  • sick cover by another great band

  • Eargasm...

  • is a good cover, no doubt, but common man put some guts into that bass!

  • @shonuffisthemaster to be fair, it's hard to top peter hook's performance.

  • what a wicked tune taken to another level R.I.P IAN CURTIS

    LONG LIVE THOM YORK (LEGENDS)

  • 34 people wouldnt know a good cover if it took a piss in their face

  • There aren't many bands that are worthy of carrying Joy Division's mantle. Radiohead is one of the few. Well done.

  • This reminds me that we're all friends.

  • and what do you play after that? lol muisic with meaning, with purpose, with love, no one does what new order did!

  • was Colin ill?

  • @RobertoWatchin Look closely, Collin's playing guitar. :P

  • Major goosebumps when the heavy strumming comes in.

  • @revolutionarybean plenty of cocks??

  • Ed is playing bass??

  • thanks to you guys (revolutionarybean & zodiusracemosis) I've learned how much people can be stupid and disrespectful. Anyway, enjoy your dreary life and hasta la vista.

  • @Kiwiiex I'm really sorry for everything that I'd said Kiwwi.

I just want you to know that I really didn't mean to hurt your feelings, I just have so much difficulty making friends most of the time that I come out too strong sometimes, in my wordings, you know.

Really, come on let's kiss make up and be friends and we can both enjoy ourselves together listening to your twilight cd at home, make cookies and be bff forever!

    Waiting for your call, xxx.

  • still stands up love this version though

  • still stands up love this version though

  • @revolutionarybean woohoo! tell that stupid bitch whats up, btw where are you from?

  • @zodiusracemosis I hail from a land of plenty mate. A land of plenty.

  • holy shit is this GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ♥♥♥

  • Oops... I vomited all my dinner after the first lyrics ! Radiohead is definitely not my cup of tea. Maybe one day, i'll appreciate it but not now ! :)

  • @Kiwiiex This is not even a radiohead song you eejit.

  • @revolutionarybean this precision wasn't really necessary indeed I can read by myself COVER JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER as far as I understand, it means, of course, that it's not a radiohead song.

Futhermore we do live in democracy (maybe you weren't aware of it, should read the news !) so i'm free to give my opinion and it hasn't been done with brutality I've even supposed that I may ONE DAY like radiohead so I don't condemn this band. EEJIT ? Being open-minded nowadays is an asset you should try!

  • @Kiwiiex Mate, I don't know why you're blabberin this and that on democracy and open mindedness.

You're declaring Radiohead not your cuppa based on the first lyrics of the song, and I'm pointing out that the first lyrics of the song isn't made by Radiohead. You see the fallacy that you based your opinion on there?

And that, good sir, is why you're an eejit. (In my humble opinion, of course)

  • @revolutionarybean Oh god, official defender of Radiohead or what ?

I wasn't talking about the fucking song that I love when it's sang by Joy Division, you don't even try to understand that it's only radiohead that's not my cuppa, it could have been any other band that I love i wouldn't have said such thing. I love the cover of joy division by the cure, new order or even the horrors, i just don't like the style of radiohead but you're too stubborn to dig a little bit into my opinion.

  • @revolutionarybean PLUS don't call me mate (i'm not your mate) and i'm even not a man !go get a life instead of contradict every comment's which isn't to your taste. when I said first lyrics I was meaning : as soon as I heard Thom York sing ! sorry if didn't expressed myself clearly enough but if you can't try to understand without insulting everyone your life must be such a mess ! On those last sentences i will finish with : PLEASE SHUT THE F**K UP because i won't spend my life answering you

  • @Kiwiiex Holy crap, you're one crazy bitch.

  • @revolutionarybean Hm yes ok an eejit then a crazy bitch, what's next ? i'm having so much fun reading you and your vocabulary seems to be so varied !

  • @Kiwiiex You're quite fat aren't ya.

  • @revolutionarybean Ohhh dear you disappoint me, I thought you would have better arguments but unfortunately i'm not fat or maybe your conception of fat is different from mine because 105 lbs for 5'4" that's not really fat ! okay i give you another try ;)

  • @Kiwiiex Ye yer not fat, I'd do you anytime, come by over my place quick.

  • to say that joy didvision and new order are the same band just simply isnt true. yes the band members basicly stayed the same after Ian died, but the sound of the band changed drasticly, except for songs like this that were written before his death...I dont think Joy didvision would ever have ended up in the direction new order took.Totally different emotional content. Ian was smart and moody...new order became pop and MTV successes.I think Ian would have moved on.he was an artist not a popstar

  • New Order is Joy Division - they simply changed the name after Ian killed himself in 1980 - so to say that Joy Division recorded this song before New order is redundant - because they are the same thing - the later version (the new order version) post 1980 just featured Bernard Sumner on vocals as opposed to Ian (since he was dead) they wanted to rerecord some songs since they had some monetary success with New Order.

  • 1:32 "it's hard to play like them man..."

  • Comment removed

  • Hypnotic

  • Bloody hell! Good.

  • The cover is good, but Colin Greenwood needs more of a Peter Hook bass tone which makes every Joy Division/New Order recognizable.

And seeing Phil Selway "struggle" a little with the drum beat a little proves how good and reliable of a drummer Stephen Morris is

  • @sebadrum16 Actually Ed O'Brien is playing the bass medley for the most part though Colin does seem to play the beginning.

Also Phil always looks like he is struggling (lol), but this is Radiohead we are talking about he has seen more fairly complex rhythms in his career. Off the top of my head there is "15 Step", "Myxomatosis", "Lotus Flower", and multi-drum songs such as: "There There", "Bangers and Mash", most of The King of Limbs album.

Though New Order is still remarkable as a band.
