@llllegquvwffvr Ok. Songs may not be in this order because some are compilation arrangements. But all drop dead gorgeously arranged! So it goes about like this, and I add familiar names as well.
Early in the Morning, Rule Britannia, Londonderry Air/"Danny Boy", Greensleeves, Men of Harlech, Scotland the Brave: a mix of "What Do Ye Do With A Drunken Sailor" and "My Bonnie Lassie", Trumpet Voluntary and Rule Britannia/God Save the Queen.
@Glinkaism1 The UKIP website is very good for looking into the matter, but I will give you my view as well.
We give the EU almost 50 million pounds every day. We receive some of that money back in grants, but we are told how we may spend it. Over 80% of our trade happens outside of Europe, but the EU forces harsh regulations on them, meaning lots of businesses (especially small, local, businesses) fail. The Taxpayers Alliance estimates that the EU costs every adult 2,000 pounds every year.
@Glinkaism1 We have lost control over our borders (I am pro-immigrations but the amounts of people migrating here at the moment is ridiculous), and under Labour almost 4 million people came into the UK and settled here, even though we cannot currently accommodate them properly. They strangle our agricultural farmers, and because of their Common Agricultural policy, each British family has an additional 30 pounds added to their food bill every week. The EU is 1st on Oxfams Double Standards Index.
@Glinkaism1 They now have complete control over our waters, and are forcing unfair laws on our fishermen, as well as allowing other EU countries to fish our waters out of fish. They force British fishermen to through back more fish dead into the sea, then they bring back to land, because they have laws on weight and number of fish allowed. Even though we provide 3/4 of the EU's fish stock, we get only 1/8 of the value of the catch. We still have to police the waters that were once ours but ...
@Glinkaism1 ... now other nations whose fishing fleets are bigger than their quotas can register their boats as British without our permission, meaning 40% of 'our fleet' are foreign owned. The people making the laws are unelected, and the MEPs vote on up to 500 pieces of legislature every hour! They often decide laws by having a show of hands, and when UKIP demanded a recorded vote on these decisions, their request was turned down! Sorry if i am going on a bit, but ill finish soon lol
@Glinkaism1 They waste lots of money like: 221,000 pounds for a shower for Nicolas Sarkozy, which he didn't use, and was later dismantled; 72 million euros to fight tobacco, and 293 to subsidize tobacco; 30 million pounds invested in illegal lanzarote hotels; 80,000 euros for a fictional hotel in the online game 'second life'. They have funded 36,000 fake Spanish businesses. And those are just the tip of the iceberg.
Almost 1 million pounds everyday is spent preparing for the UK to join to euro
@Glinkaism1 ... even though our government has promised a referendum on us joining the euro (as well as a referendum on EU membership). If we join the euro, we give up all of our gold, and our finances and interest rates are made by the ECB, who meet in secret, and whose records of their meetings are not made public for 16 years. The bank of englands records are made public within a month. I shall conclude with one more paragraph (sorry for the previous 5 you have had to read lol)
@Glinkaism1 Here are some myths about the EU: 'We can't leave.' Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty concedes we have the right to leave the EU. '3 Million Jobs would be lost.' If we left, we would have a trade agreement like Norway, Switzerland, Greenland ect. Jobs would actually be gained, not lost, as we import more than we export. 'We are small, and would fail outside the EU.' Most of our trade and finances comes from outside of the EU. Smaller countries in Europe that aren't in the EU prosper...
@llllegquvwffvr Those are points well-taken. Thanks. :) Typical of all parties in power: the behind closed doors meetings and decisions. Keep looking up, though! Cheers! Flowers and grass are coming up. Can see olde paths.
@Glinkaism1 OK this is the last one, I promise. 'Holidays would be more expensive if we left.' The Euro has driven holiday prices up. If people went abroad to non-EU countries, it will be much much cheaper. Finally 'The EU has kept peace in Europe for years.' The UN, NATO, and democratic nations actually keep the peace, not the EU.
Sorry I have been so long. Hope you found some of this info and opinion helpful.
KING GOD CREATOR 2011 UK EARTH KINGDOMS HEAVEN. They will take this to the last second. @Number10gov My Universe I am the news. I am wrapping it all up the sky the lot. All into the size of a pea so dense nothing will lift it. Happening now a slow process with an immediate result. Is that where you all want to be, in that pea stuck in your coffins forever dead gone & forgotten. Because you are all going the right way about it.
@iamduvern Well maybe because i'm living in Poland right now? But for you all Poles are living in UK.. lol..
besides Poland is poor also because of Churchill who decided to place it into Soviet Russia control area. And that's why we e.g. could't get money from Marshall Plan, which made UK, Germany, France etc. rich again. But you act like typical racist 50yo UK. Read some history books. No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron in RAF was the best squadron in Battle for Britain.
@akomor1 Churchill didnt place you in Soviet Russia, he wanted to keep Poland free! Remember mate we went to war because your country was invaded, so dont give it all that shit! YOU read some history books!
@akomor1 I know all about the phoney war!! That means nothing, we still declared war on Germany for the sole reason that they didnt withdraw there troops from Poland!
Yes, a song with lyrics by an Anglo- Scot resident in England, in a Germanic language and with a melody written by an Englishman in honor of a German king. First performed in 1745, conveniently coinciding with the consolidation of English (sorry, German) power over Scotland.
Brilliant! Reminds me of trying to scramble out of my sleeping bag at 5. 55am, pitch dark, freezing cold, busting for a jimmy, groping around trying to find an HB pencil stub and a notepad on the chart table on an HMSTC yacht whist trying to get the shipping forecast before I missed Dover,Wight, Portland, Plymouth, usually with the after effects of to much cask ale from the local Isle of Wight pub. Never better memories. God bless! All true Yachties please comment! (Nicely)
it was ditched because the guy who took over wanted to stamp his authority on his new underlings and to show meanigless oiks like you and I that even though we pay the license fee to fund for this gits wages, we have no choice about what radio 4 actually does with said money...... I used to wake up with my kids to this theme tune, pull all nighters, get to bed after all night parties. Now the Today program and farming - siggghhhh, not a good swap. Maybe im just turning into a grumpy git!

You lot sound like the BNP. You should be ashamed of yourselves. No rights have been taken away, it's still here. If you want to have it at 5:30, then listen to it here! I realise that you see it as a matter of principle, but frankly, there's more to worry about than this. Get over yourselves.
...and if you think it's "middle England bland neo-classical nonsense" maybe you should listen to some modern prole-fodder instead. There's plenty of that rubbish on other frequencies...
@wabawoba It would seem you do not appreciate the benevolent intentions of our glorious comrades at the BBC. No doubt you would benefit from a period of reflection, re-education and moral realignment at a specilly designed compound. I believe the Soviet Union had a similar scheme designed for those such as yourself, possessed as you clearly are of a counter-revolutionary midset. Now fly this blue flag with gold stars on your house and await further instructions from your new masters in Belgium.
@concord1775 lol... It really does seem like we're trying to bleach all culture out of our lives. I just don't understand how keeping a traditional piece of music is bad. We still tell the same stories and tales from years ago, it's part of our culture and history... attract young people by getting them interested. They have enough hip-hop, pop and indie radio stations if they aren't attracted...
Why and how on earth do they decide to remove these things? Especially when it's doing no harm. Surely they must know how many people will complain when it's gone.
Maybe it's because a healthy sense of pride and nostalgia has got confused with over-patriotism and inequality in the minds of some. It makes me so angry that people think like this. It's the same political correct snobbery that results in changing "hot cross buns" into "hot IT buns". Ridiculous! The world is laughing at England be
There really was something magical about this theme tune subtly wafting from my radio as I drove through the dawn of a misty morning on my way to work. It made you feel as though this really was a Scepted Isle.
I wonder if it'll be worth lobbying the new commander in chief when he arrives! Thunderstorm woke me early this morning , and there was just one thing I needed to hear!
I think I prefer this version to the original because it has Men of Harlech as well - which I can't remember the original having - so it really does represent the whole of the UK. To throw in my 2 pence worth in the political debate - I think they're all as bad as each other and I'm tempted to write that on my ballot paper on Thursday!
I feel it,s because they need to make a mark for them selves to be noticed, it's something lacking in there childhood a distructive streak, millions will agree that there realy was no need to remove the "good morning Britain , from radio 4 " opening theme tune.
please write to the people at radio 4 as i have & many more to reinstall this up beat tune to give us a good feeling in the morning!
Happy memories of hearing this in the cockpit whilst waiting for the shipping forecast as we headed south through Biscay. Steaming mug of coffee and a bacon butty, the rest of the crew still asleep, watching the dawn.
Coming home on the Bank Line ships we started to pick up 'home' about Finisterre.
Actually, I could get quite angry about it being discontinued if I allowed myself to dwell on it. I'll bet no one ever complained!
Your not the only one chap! there are I would think millions of us angry that they took off our tune. how one guy can destroy the morale of so many millions !!?? just like the government i suppose , more freedoms in Russia now adays!
I've writen twice to radio 4 & will keep on till they ban me for doing it.
have a go back at them , it's only a gnat bit i know but boy it sure brings them out in a rash!
Y'know, Coxswain255, a thought just occurred... perhaps what we need is a radio station dedicated to the average Briton, a station which would reflect the values, likes and culture of the great mass of British people; folks whose strength of feeling should not be underestimated simply because they are decent enough not to rant and rave about what they want.
Perhaps we could call it... the British Broadcasting Corporation????
Yes the BBC would be a very nice title to give the world a pillar to lean against, a reliable non changing time keeper something we can all rely on? How ever if the people we trust to look after the very foundations of the UK & believe it or not the BBC voice is heard around the world, undermines them it makes you wonder how they really feel about us "the normal bloke who believes in Great Britain" I feel we are all treated with contempt! Pay your TAX, Don't ask for anything!!, & Die!.
Seems strong I know but the theme tune was just one of many pillars toppled by some over educated under experienced , self awarding fool, who dose not believe that every country in the world would like to pick this very bright fat cherry off the tree & eat it alive for there own gain! ? sorry if I sound weird It's just that I'm 50 & started my watch & all I can see is our virgin leaders "that includes the twit in Radio 4 " have put us too close to a lea - shore!.
No, I don't think it's too strong... I think it is the belief and creed of the vast majority of working Brits (who are also the ones who maintain the coffers!) the problem is, any form of reminiscence is now seen as senility, and patriotism is instantly binned as BNP ravings... I (also 50) am absolutely opposed to extremism of any sort and I despise the BNP, and yet stuff like this makes me feel... well, that I'd like to feel a jugular or two collapsing under my thumbs!!!
I have a feeling that this erosion has been going on for some near 30 years & that when this lot of NO BALLS leaders GO We may still stand a chance to bring ourselves off our knees financially & morally.
The problem is, it requires a Statesman to lead... and parliament is now chock-full of political graduates who have never functioned in any practical environment, and who do not know right and wrong, merely 'acceptable' and 'unacceptable'.
We need to start the momentum now... in another half-generation there won't be sufficient people who feel like us still around to carry a vote!!!
Don't know about you mate but Im forUKIP this time round .tried the Con,s tried the LabourBoth made me loose homes jobs & saving, & even now my very lucrative, telecoms, exporting,British ltd company has gone solvent due to lack of support n funding so Ive just lost my job of 10 years due to there policies
So through conscience its got to be UKIP the only one that seems to speak as itis I feel.
Anyway I think the OLD parties are so corrupt n rotten & have merged together now You know what they say about interbreeding? , its time to get rid of the gits! There causing these foolish & stupid changes in our lives
Well, I'd agree with you entirely on Labour, Con and possibly Lib/Dem too. But isolating ourselves from Europe doesn't seem the way ahead... we haven't got many friends out there, as Mr. Obama is at pains to make clear... and I don't think the answer is in voting for the 'least-worst'.
The answer, it seems to me, is to create from scratch the party which truly represents what I think are the decent, working British values and desires... moderation and common sense applied with determination.
@Capnblatch If we don't isolate ourselfs from the EU now, it will soon control us entirely. Leaving the EU would be common sense my friend. Leaving the EU would not isolate us from Europe itself, however. Do you think Norway and Switzerland are isolated from other European countries because they're not part of the EU?
@PureJockPureBrit I do wish I could agree, Mate... Semantically I do, but practically? We haven't got Norway's oil or Switzerland's loot, and we haven't been making ourselves inconspicuous & obliging for over 500 years like they have. Our main wealth, such as it is, comes from 'invisibles', which many are greedy to strip from us.
I genuinely think the European way of life is worth protecting as a group, and even if I didn't I'd still want to be a member of a big club... I don't trust Russia, China or the US one inch.
@Capnblatch There is no such thing as a "European" way of life. We all have our own seperate backgrounds and histories. As for being part of a big club, we have NATO for defense (which is being comprimised because us, along with other EU countries, are having to commit more to EU packs and agreements in which we have no choice. We have the Commonwealth for trade, which has far more potential in the world markets than the EU has to offer.
@PureJockPureBrit But I agree 100% (in the year when an unelected prime minister has managed to install yet another unelected layer of Euro-government over us without, I am chagrined to say, a coherent murmur from the British people) that the government of Europe MUST be radically reformed NOW if anything is to survive between the Urals and the Atlantic.
@Capnblatch No matter what the public say (and what UKIP say, as they are the only opposition to the EU in the Britain) the EU will never change its ways. Barroso for a start (the President of the Commission and thus effectively the most powerful man in the EU) was a Maoist at university. Schulz, leader of Socialists in the EU, stated "we must not bow to populism" regarding the Irish no vote on the Lisbon Treaty. They have proved to you, Capnblatch, that they cannot be trusted. Vote UKIP.
@PureJockPureBrit Norway and Switzerland have been very sensible, I think. Look at what is happening in Europe now in terms of the Euro - many European leaders are skeptic about it's future, but in particular German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Interesting, isn't it, how Germany, once a great proponent of the Euro, can suddenly change her tune?
@Random22222y Angela Merkel has no choice but to change her tune, as she has recently become quite unpopular in Germany because of her willingness to bail out Greece at the expense of the German taxpayer etc. She either changes her tune or gets voted out. But don't think for a moment that she will stop her campaign of Euro nationalist integration. She will wait until the economic downturn has subsided, then will continue making Germany less German and instead more European.
Reminds me of the days I was installing software at Rovers in Cowley. I needed to be crossing the bridge in Stratford-on-Avon when this came on to be sure of being on time.
It's silly really, but I actually quite miss this. It reminds me of the smell of bacon cooking, the chinking of mugs and the low murmur of conversation downstairs whilst still being tucked up in bed. Innocent, I suppose.
coxwain, you need a piece of music to remind you where you live? My god, you must spend your evenings getting plastered. I wonder how you'll react when production of The Archers stops late next year ( only kidding ). Anyway, i'm willing to bet most of you weren't aware of the UK Theme until it was axed.
Firstly I dont know which God your God is so please don't bring him, her or it into the discussion.
Secondly I pride myself on having a drink only on birthdays Christmas & during a nice meal. Thirdly I am an archer listener but not a fanatic as it seems you may be? Fourthly I am as my YouTube name suggests a person of the seas which means I used to use the Theme as a pleasant alarm clock to wake me n listen to the coastal weather forecasts of which Ive been doing for 30 odd years now!
You how ever being a teenager will of course not understand all this? Would I be right in thinking you are a teenager? Sir Daddy Topper? Incidentally I was born an Indian I live in Slough I have only1 neighbour left out of 9 who is & speaks English! I however only speak English as I had no need to speak any other & so I & a large number like me need this music to remind us that we live in Great Britain. Can you top"per" that experience & reason for my comment?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Great username pun.
One of the amazing things about us humans is our ability to adapt to change. It's not always pleasant but we adapt. But i guess you have to hold on to the stuff from the prime of your lives as you get older and your 'cox wain'.
Excuse the childish outburst of puns WE humans have these now and again don't we? We humans also accept change as we make change otherwise we'd still be rescuing people on the seas with ores n sails? Its the rate & quantity of change that is disturbing. Its as if the youth have no idea of what they really want? As most challenges have been meet by now.
I understand your frustrations to be different to be original to be a young man, a young woman or a young gay? It makes no odds as we your elders have done it all ourselves whilst you were playing with each other we were building or foundations for our futures. All I ask the youth is to build up your own culture & leave my generations alone it will die out in time as we pass on & you can do as you wish after that.
Last time I heard this was the very last time it was played, while I was getting up for the London Marathon in 2006. Only a few weeks later did I learn that this was its finale, and it had now been dropped "in the interests of time." What idiocy.
This truly was a fine symbol of Britain first thing in the morning it reminded us that we lived on THIS island & not on ANOTHER! but then some do gooder slack jaws would see it in the view of those who would love to pick this bright red cherry off the top of the tree, AY?
I don't mean to say that Muslim or Hindu culture cannot exist alongside traditional British culture. I firmly believe in diversity. It allows for a better understanding of the world, with all of it's history and cultures!
All I am trying to get across is, the British culture does not need to be dismantled to allow for other cultures to exist here.
With this said, I personally believe that they accepted the fact that they were coming to a different society from whence they came, therefore should respect the culture and traditions that existed before their arrival. I am not just another person who detests immigrants. I believe that it is very good indeed that we have a diverse population. I just don't believe that the British culture should be forgotten for the sake of our immigrants.
Like I said gents, I don't mean to offend people, and Soundslike2 is perfectly free to ridicule or insult my tastes in music or my grammer. What bothers me though, is that I believe he may have misunderstood my mesage. It does not, in any way, make sense to me that we should remove British music or "dirge" as he likes to call it, from our radio stations to please immigrants. Like Jamie said, diversity is good, but the immigrants we removed this music for did indeed come to our country.
It's terrible that we abandon and forget our own culture so that we don't offend former colonials. Why does'nt the government ban all Non-English radio stations? Don't they fear that we Britons may be offended by their "non-Britishness"? I don't mean to offend anyone either, but what about us? We were here first, correct me if I'm wrong, and the only reason that the they are here is so they can enjoy more freedoms and find opportunities that they did'nt have at home.
I am sorry RuleBritannia feels his culture is threatened by not being able to hear this awful dirge at 6am every morning. I am also sorry about the spelling and punctuation mistakes in his post.
I can correct him however that whatever he calls 'we Britons' were not 'here' first
I personally dont think its fair to call this song a 'dirge', its a genuinely great piece of music that has in some cases been hijacked by the sort of 'people' who would probrably vote BNP. Take it back from the far right like we did 'Jerusalem'.
Britain does have a national identity, and its an identity of diversity, we are mostly all a melting pot of Saxon, Celtic, Danish, Norse, Jute and Angle and in more modern times the influence of people from Europe and Asia, these things are Good!
But yes, diversity is good, and this song has that, it has tunes from all over the british isles, how about someone hashes a more multi-ethnic version though? With extracts of tunes from Europe, Asia and the Middle East!
I woke up to this nearly every morning and am disgusted that the vile multicul racists have given this sweet combination of tunes the death penalty.

The BBC is riddled with Common Purpose people.
This theme is way too patriotic to match their marxist pro-EU agenda.
People should search for videos from Brian Gerrish who talks about this subject.

If we join the euro, we give up all of our gold, and our finances and interest rates are made by the ECB, who meet in secret, and whose records of their meetings are not made public for 16 years. The bank of englands records are made public within a month. I shall conclude with one more paragraph (sorry for the previous 5 you have had to read lol)
llllegquvwffvr 9 months ago

@Glinkaism1 Hope the info was appreciated :) Thanks again for the track list.
llllegquvwffvr 9 months ago
@llllegquvwffvr Yes, very much so! Thanks again.
Glinkaism1 9 months ago
@Glinkaism1 OK this is the last one, I promise. 'Holidays would be more expensive if we left.' The Euro has driven holiday prices up. If people went abroad to non-EU countries, it will be much much cheaper. Finally 'The EU has kept peace in Europe for years.' The UN, NATO, and democratic nations actually keep the peace, not the EU.
Sorry I have been so long. Hope you found some of this info and opinion helpful.

Yes, a song with lyrics by an Anglo- Scot resident in England, in a Germanic language and with a melody written by an Englishman in honor of a German king. First performed in 1745, conveniently coinciding with the consolidation of English (sorry, German) power over Scotland.

concord1775 1 year ago
@concord1775 lol... It really does seem like we're trying to bleach all culture out of our lives. I just don't understand how keeping a traditional piece of music is bad. We still tell the same stories and tales from years ago, it's part of our culture and history... attract young people by getting them interested. They have enough hip-hop, pop and indie radio stations if they aren't attracted...

dezzah1976 3 months ago
Why and how on earth do they decide to remove these things? Especially when it's doing no harm. Surely they must know how many people will complain when it's gone.
Maybe it's because a healthy sense of pride and nostalgia has got confused with over-patriotism and inequality in the minds of some. It makes me so angry that people think like this. It's the same political correct snobbery that results in changing "hot cross buns" into "hot IT buns". Ridiculous! The world is laughing at England be

coxwain255 2 years ago
Y'know, Coxswain255, a thought just occurred... perhaps what we need is a radio station dedicated to the average Briton, a station which would reflect the values, likes and culture of the great mass of British people; folks whose strength of feeling should not be underestimated simply because they are decent enough not to rant and rave about what they want.
Perhaps we could call it... the British Broadcasting Corporation????
Capnblatch 2 years ago
Yes the BBC would be a very nice title to give the world a pillar to lean against, a reliable non changing time keeper something we can all rely on? How ever if the people we trust to look after the very foundations of the UK & believe it or not the BBC voice is heard around the world, undermines them it makes you wonder how they really feel about us "the normal bloke who believes in Great Britain" I feel we are all treated with contempt! Pay your TAX, Don't ask for anything!!, & Die!.
coxwain255 2 years ago
Seems strong I know but the theme tune was just one of many pillars toppled by some over educated under experienced , self awarding fool, who dose not believe that every country in the world would like to pick this very bright fat cherry off the tree & eat it alive for there own gain! ? sorry if I sound weird It's just that I'm 50 & started my watch & all I can see is our virgin leaders "that includes the twit in Radio 4 " have put us too close to a lea - shore!.
coxwain255 2 years ago
No, I don't think it's too strong... I think it is the belief and creed of the vast majority of working Brits (who are also the ones who maintain the coffers!) the problem is, any form of reminiscence is now seen as senility, and patriotism is instantly binned as BNP ravings... I (also 50) am absolutely opposed to extremism of any sort and I despise the BNP, and yet stuff like this makes me feel... well, that I'd like to feel a jugular or two collapsing under my thumbs!!!

coxwain255 2 years ago
Well, I'd agree with you entirely on Labour, Con and possibly Lib/Dem too. But isolating ourselves from Europe doesn't seem the way ahead... we haven't got many friends out there, as Mr. Obama is at pains to make clear... and I don't think the answer is in voting for the 'least-worst'.
The answer, it seems to me, is to create from scratch the party which truly represents what I think are the decent, working British values and desires... moderation and common sense applied with determination.
Capnblatch 2 years ago
@Capnblatch If we don't isolate ourselfs from the EU now, it will soon control us entirely. Leaving the EU would be common sense my friend. Leaving the EU would not isolate us from Europe itself, however. Do you think Norway and Switzerland are isolated from other European countries because they're not part of the EU?
PureJockPureBrit 1 year ago
@PureJockPureBrit I do wish I could agree, Mate... Semantically I do, but practically? We haven't got Norway's oil or Switzerland's loot, and we haven't been making ourselves inconspicuous & obliging for over 500 years like they have. Our main wealth, such as it is, comes from 'invisibles', which many are greedy to strip from us.
Capnblatch 1 year ago
@PureJockPureBrit
I genuinely think the European way of life is worth protecting as a group, and even if I didn't I'd still want to be a member of a big club... I don't trust Russia, China or the US one inch.
Capnblatch 1 year ago
@Capnblatch There is no such thing as a "European" way of life. We all have our own seperate backgrounds and histories. As for being part of a big club, we have NATO for defense (which is being comprimised because us, along with other EU countries, are having to commit more to EU packs and agreements in which we have no choice. We have the Commonwealth for trade, which has far more potential in the world markets than the EU has to offer.
PureJockPureBrit 1 year ago
@PureJockPureBrit But I agree 100% (in the year when an unelected prime minister has managed to install yet another unelected layer of Euro-government over us without, I am chagrined to say, a coherent murmur from the British people) that the government of Europe MUST be radically reformed NOW if anything is to survive between the Urals and the Atlantic.
Capnblatch 1 year ago
@Capnblatch No matter what the public say (and what UKIP say, as they are the only opposition to the EU in the Britain) the EU will never change its ways. Barroso for a start (the President of the Commission and thus effectively the most powerful man in the EU) was a Maoist at university. Schulz, leader of Socialists in the EU, stated "we must not bow to populism" regarding the Irish no vote on the Lisbon Treaty. They have proved to you, Capnblatch, that they cannot be trusted. Vote UKIP.
PureJockPureBrit 1 year ago
@PureJockPureBrit Norway and Switzerland have been very sensible, I think. Look at what is happening in Europe now in terms of the Euro - many European leaders are skeptic about it's future, but in particular German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Interesting, isn't it, how Germany, once a great proponent of the Euro, can suddenly change her tune?
Random22222y 1 year ago
@Random22222y Angela Merkel has no choice but to change her tune, as she has recently become quite unpopular in Germany because of her willingness to bail out Greece at the expense of the German taxpayer etc. She either changes her tune or gets voted out. But don't think for a moment that she will stop her campaign of Euro nationalist integration. She will wait until the economic downturn has subsided, then will continue making Germany less German and instead more European.

RuleBritannia50 2 years ago 2
With this said, I personally believe that they accepted the fact that they were coming to a different society from whence they came, therefore should respect the culture and traditions that existed before their arrival. I am not just another person who detests immigrants. I believe that it is very good indeed that we have a diverse population. I just don't believe that the British culture should be forgotten for the sake of our immigrants.
RuleBritannia50 2 years ago
Like I said gents, I don't mean to offend people, and Soundslike2 is perfectly free to ridicule or insult my tastes in music or my grammer. What bothers me though, is that I believe he may have misunderstood my mesage. It does not, in any way, make sense to me that we should remove British music or "dirge" as he likes to call it, from our radio stations to please immigrants. Like Jamie said, diversity is good, but the immigrants we removed this music for did indeed come to our country.
RuleBritannia50 2 years ago
It's terrible that we abandon and forget our own culture so that we don't offend former colonials. Why does'nt the government ban all Non-English radio stations? Don't they fear that we Britons may be offended by their "non-Britishness"? I don't mean to offend anyone either, but what about us? We were here first, correct me if I'm wrong, and the only reason that the they are here is so they can enjoy more freedoms and find opportunities that they did'nt have at home.
RuleBritannia50 2 years ago 2
I am sorry RuleBritannia feels his culture is threatened by not being able to hear this awful dirge at 6am every morning. I am also sorry about the spelling and punctuation mistakes in his post.
I can correct him however that whatever he calls 'we Britons' were not 'here' first
soundslike2 2 years ago
I personally dont think its fair to call this song a 'dirge', its a genuinely great piece of music that has in some cases been hijacked by the sort of 'people' who would probrably vote BNP. Take it back from the far right like we did 'Jerusalem'.
Britain does have a national identity, and its an identity of diversity, we are mostly all a melting pot of Saxon, Celtic, Danish, Norse, Jute and Angle and in more modern times the influence of people from Europe and Asia, these things are Good!
Jamieisteh1337 2 years ago
But yes, diversity is good, and this song has that, it has tunes from all over the british isles, how about someone hashes a more multi-ethnic version though? With extracts of tunes from Europe, Asia and the Middle East!
