NBC wants a uniform look across their Owned and Operated stations. They aren't "copying" each other as each station get a somewhat customized version of the graphics and/or music.
Like I said a uniform look across O&Os is what NBC wanted and that's what they got. When you go from NY to LA you know that you're watching NBC based on the look of the TV Station.
Except that having a uniform looks on all your stations take away a local identity. However, NBC does allow their stations to have different names for their newscasts if they wish. WNBC goes by News 4 New York, KNBC goes by The Channel 4 News, WRC in Washington goes by News 4. Plus, NBC's affiliates don't have to call themselves "NBC(channel #)", though some do.
I love this open....mostly due to the theme. Groove Addicts is producing some great package. This package "KNBC 2007" and "Big Sky" are two prime examples. I would love to see more major market station pick up there stuff. And these graphics look great in HD here in Chicago. Cant wait to see KNBC take the HD plunge...I hear before this summer!
Exactly my point....they are making great piece of music. I would like to see more major market stations pick up their News Themes. Sad thing is that there are reports KNBC will take the WNBC look and theme when they switch to HD. I like the WNBC HD graphics but lets keep the Groove Addicts theme or have them update the WNBC 2003 Theme and make it sound more KNBC like or just keep KNBC 2007.
The music is not that bad. WNBC should have gone with this, at least is sounds remotely like the 2003 music.

The last three persons need to be quiet, they are owned by companies, they have no control over if they want to change it or not.
