  • sugarjoe50 -- which girl in the intro? The one who goes on to do the Bendix refrigerator commercial is the movie and TV actress Jean Alexander of Actors Studio!

  • is the girl in the intro Marlo Thomas?

  • WOW ! I want one !

  • joe pesci

  • $199.95!

  • 15 years later these kids go off to San Francisco and start the hippie revolution...

  • what a giant refrigerator!

  • There's no light in that refrigerator.

  • This Bendix refrigerator was not the first to have shelves on the inside of the door. That actually had been invented many years earlier, in the 1930s, by the Crosley company. They called it the "Shelvador".

Now the "Kinetic Brain", of course, was a totally different situation.

  • And all of these wonderful Bendix refrigerators are child killer! Yes folks! A child can climb into an abandoned one, close the door and it LOCKS the oxygen goes away and the child smothers in a matter of minutes.

  • @Sheri451 I remember as a kid hearing about kids dying inside of old refrigerators.

  • @Sheri451 oh youre great fun to have a t a party arent you.xx

  • "Madam Zodiac" is Angela Martin, who was a child ventriloquist and singer. She later appeared in Broadway in "George M!" and in the film version of "Annie."

  • Oh my goodness... what a neat piece of history... This is when they first had a fridge door?? "Bonus Door" Haahhahaha!!

  • I never knew you had to think about your refrigerator. No wonder women didn't work, they had to worry about their appliances!

  • @LastTree They had to think about defrosting their refrigerators before they invented ones that did it automatically.

  • @torresongs2 See, I knew it!

  • Ms.Connie Francis was one of the regulars on"Star Time!'..another regular on the show was Mr.Morty Gunty..The"Star Time Show"was first seen on WPIX TV Ch.11 in NYC in the early 1950's.Later the show moved to WNBT Ch.4 in NYC.

  • I believe it was Joe Pesci and Connie Francis.

  • Yes, the Rosebuds of Star Time. Maxine Stewart on the right, Rita Young on the left and Susie Kaye in the middle. The show came from the NBC studio 4B at Rockerfeller Center each Sat. eve.

There was Lenny Dale & Joey Sheptock in the foreground b4 we sang. Angel was doing her thing b4 the commercial.

Maxine, I've been looking for you for years.

    Rita

  • Rita

Its Maxine. Sent you an email. Please reply.

  • Rita! Charlie and I were wondering about you and all the other Star Time Kids. This is Lillian of Charles and Lillian. I know where Charles is, of course and Bobby Appel and Sandy Leeds. Unfortunately, Joey Sheptock and Angel are no longer alive, nor is Lynne Ross. Please let me hear from you. Reply to button1938

  • @button1938

I just found this clip this morning. The host of the show -- wearing all the fringe -- is my dad, Lonny Starr. This is GREAT to see this!

  • The Rosebuds had a local hit in 1957 called DEAREST DARLING, released on GONE Records.

  • I don't think these are the same Rosebuds. The names of the 1957 group (a quartet) were Dorothy, Rosemarie, Mary and Virginia. They were from Brooklyn. The record "Dearest Darling" was released on Gee and was a local hit, but did not chart nationally.

  • This group is called the Rosebuds. I am sure because I am the one on the right. My stage name at the time was Maxine Stewart. The girl in the middle is Susan and the girl on the left is Rita. If there are any star time kids out there, please post a reply.

  • ajhoff, do you remember what ABC studio or theatre where the show originated?

  • Maxine--I hope you answer this. It's Lillian, of Charles and Lillian. I had the flowered hat your father made for all of us for years. What are you doing? How's life? Please reply to button 1938

  • @ajhoff1972 wow thats amazing, whats it like for you to see this again? when you say right, stage right or audience right. god bless you tube eh?

  • @ajhoff1972

Just found this today. I wasn't a kid, but my dad, Lonny Starr, was the host.

  • I don't know who the kids are, but the actress doing the Spin commercial is Jean Alexander who was then (and still is) a member of The Actors Studio!

  • In this clip, Jean Alexander is doing the Bendix refrigerator commercial. She also did the Spin commercials on this program.

  • Very cute:-)

and WoW I didn't know refrigerators did all of that!
