It was the 6/7/76 at the Wimbledon Theatre, AC/DC and Leapy Lee were playing as well. I was 17 came up from the Scilly Isles to see it. The did I Love To Boogie, The Soul of My Suit and some others. They mucked them all up at least once so they could play them again. So much better than the single.
when punk was gainin momentum i believe marc wanted to cash in on some of that by playin with the damned. A mod, hippy acoustic, glam rocker, big daddy punk rocker. whatever is hip at the time. a musician gotta change with the times or create the change. go out and make it happen or sit back and watch it happen
Love Marc Bolan- I saw Marc on the tour with the Damned at the Locarno in Portsmouth - The Damned came back on at the end and jammed with T Rex - Never forget it - I was 16 at the time!!
I'm 53 years old and I still miss Marc Bolan. In my opinion this is one of his strongest songs comparable to anything on The Warrior and Slider albums; and his band were wonderful at this time. Such a shame that he is not still here to give us more of his talent.
In the 70's i lived in England (my father was in the US air force stationed there) and saw Marc live 14 times from '72-7. He always sold out anywhere he played, and the crowds went INSANE. I saw him a month before he died, and he was the best i'd seen him. He looked great too. Marc always looked so happy performing, not many performers do. There is a 2 disc cd set out now of songs Marc was working on when died, tons of songs on it. He had a bright future ahead of him.
The 2 cd set is called "Work In Progress". Disc 1 is home recordings by Marc, acoustic & electric. Don't worry, the sound quality is great since Marc had all the best recording equipment at home. Disc 2 is studio outtakes, demos & working versions. Some songs are okay, some great. What's amazing is that there are 55 songs! And there are still plenty more of unheard songs yet to be released. This kind of destroys all the talk about how he was burned out after '73. I'm sure you'll love it!
this must have been a year or so before he died. I remember- he cut his hair and tried to go "punk" for the younger audience. In fact, I think he even toured with The Damned.
Always loved the studio version. But, this blows me away! It definitely sounds more like '77 than anything from '76. It definitely has more punk/new wave swagger than the studio verison. Ahead of his time (yet again.)
A fantastic performance, much better than the somewhat 'tepid' single version, this should have been a big hit for marc, but the single release was not the new wave sort of sound that marc wanted.
This though is tremendous, I think miller actually plays lead towards the end, marc actually got new members after laser love flopped, saying the previous lot ' lacked inspiration '
Peter "Dino" Dines on Keyboard. Dino later became a professional woodworker and teacher. He taught handmade Furniture Making at Bounds Green College. I owe much to him.
i watch marc on this video and its like better sweet all those years gone into his act his peformance he is as the video shows happy on stage at home this was where he wanted to get to its just so sad when you realise he didnt have long to enjoy his work and his music it was who he was and he had just reached it

Best way of seeing TRex nowadays is in the tribute band called Trextasy. the total atmosphere of Trex and Bolan.

This was filmed 13th july '76 and broadcast

it would grow back before he died.

O.k. not one of the best but i still think this song is soooooo under-rated. The band are great here.

I love the guitar riff but I don't regard this song as one of Bolan's best. The band are really on form though.
