Neither of them can sing--just have the ability to carry a tune. Nothing special.
Lindsay trumps Hilary in acting early in their careers, but Lindsay made bad choices with her life and Hilary didn't. That's really the only difference. Lindsay had more potential, but threw it away. Sucks for her.

Lindsay is much much more talented than Hilary. Lindsay voice is way more powerful and she acts way more real. Hilary cannot act at all, watching her fake always-the-same-type-of-sweet-innocent-girl-performance in a movie makes me wanna throw up.
Yes, she's a better example and role model for younger girls because she doesnt do drugs and drinking and all that, but that's about it.
Go Lindsay, you're way more real, just stay away from drugs :)

Wow really? Have you ever heard Lindsay sing live before? Go look her videos up on youtube, and you'll see that she cant sing crap. Hilary's not being fake that's just how she is and her style of acting. I have to admit Lindsay did make pretty good movies in the beginning, but she threw away her talent. And you can't say drugs and drinking is just it. Uh hello? Those are pretty big deals and especially now since she's arrested. Why don't we just have an 8 year old do the same.

Hilary was more the "good girl", but Lindsay was actually really convincing as an actress. She was amazing in "The Parent Trap", Hilary's pathetic "acting" which consisted of sighing and trying to look cute and innocent was no match. I'm a fan of neither, Hil seems nicer, and it's sad how Lindsay screwed up.
