My last argument is pretty true, if you know your history you'll know that many societies took advantage of religion as a form of social control, to keep people in check.

What YOU are refusing to comprehend is that religion will not eliminate social control or bids for power (and many of today's most dictatorial ideologies are anti-religion, like Communism or Nazism). In fact, regimes like the USSR shows us that you don't need religion to keep people in check;and religion is actually the resistance to such tyranny. Let me tell you a few things about the Catholic faith.

In my country, immigrants are taken care of by Jesuits, who also organise missions to poverty stricken areas. In Lourdes, 67 miracles have been confirmed by doctors and surgeons who couldn't explain the cure. The church apologised again and again for the crusades, for the inquisition. You're simply prejudiced and anti-theist...

Take notion that those people are already emotionally compromised with Religion.

Intelect isn't even a question of debate. It's not a factor in this case.

They are not intellect deprived because they haven't come to the conclusion that God doesn't exist, they simply weren't able to solve that question for themselves because they didn't want to. (emotionally).

I never intended to try and convert anybody; my points were that 1) you think religion is the cause for control when control is sought through every means possible, and would continue were religion absent, and 2) the church does an ENORMOUS amount of good which people refuse to see because are prejudiced by what happened centuries ago, for which the church apologised time and time again. Not only that, but the pilgrims were expected to pump 140MILLION EUROS into the Spanish economy. Why did they protest then?
