OK, Thats cool,I stand to be corrected for sure, but I guess I just got carried away w/what I was saying,becuase, no matter who they have drum for them,they'er never going to impress me,sorry,but thats the truth,but I do respect Mike M .He's doing it,got to admit that. I've listened to D.T.'s new L.P., and I'm impressed,I love the sounds they have,I love it studio version, so far but, we'll see later, when he does these same songs again in the future.All in all, thank you for your ccomment....

@mrbeat1988 Amen to that,No matter WHO they end up with, He'll never impress me much,...just saying, He's got big shoes to fill, yes I admit M.P. is kinda stuck on himself, but he's got prity good reason, He is a pro. Listen to "Pull Me Under" again, and listen to the drum/work,... in just 50 seconds, you'll agree on how tight, and clear, it is compared to now!! makes me sad too.....

Portnoy had an amazing stage present. He connect with his crowds like no other. I'm going to miss him in Dream Theater. Mangini is basically playing the same parts with a few more technical notes here and there. But, Portnoy just made it a show and made it fun to watch. Now everyone in the band is boring and just stands around. And, this is coming from a fan who has been fallowing them for six years.

@594wendell I am not replying to this in a disrespectful manner, however I think most people listen to (and therefore go and see) Dream Theater because of the technicality of their tunes, not because they have stage presence per say. Personally, I'd rather see them stand around and sound perfect than run around and sound like balls... Portnoy was great live, but his presence sometimes came before the tunes. Just saying, I've been following them for 15 years myself! Either way, love them!

@Billiam886 Your opinion is certainly valid. I am a drummer myself, obviously, and I assume you are too. I have followed both guys for a long time and respect them both. I don't think Mangini is throwing them out of "wack" personally nor do I think John is watching him for that reason. But hey, to each his own.

@Billiam886 I play percussion, I can tell you for a fact that Mangini is a better drummer than Portnoy. Portnoy had this very distinctive style of playing that Mangini is not trying to copy exactly

@theclash06013 Like I said before, I guess we'll see how good he is when he does these latest tunes again in the future, Portnoy can duplicate LIVE better then almost any other drummer can, and thats a fact ! Becuause, He's so good.....I'm not down grading Mike M. It takes guts to do what he is trying. And no matter WHO replaces M.P. They'll never impress me,.. Period !!

@combro87 Portnoy is a one big reason for DT to so famous and a one reason why people are looking drummers today. He is the heart and soul for this song and many others. But why not replace JP with Steve Vai or Joe Satriani? I think those guitar parts can play so many today... ?

@594wendell Must disagree. In Villafranca they've been amazing, expecially if compared to the Prog nation '09. James going all around the stage (the court jester is back :P), Both Johns moving a lot more, headbanging (obviously Myung did headbang a lot less than JP), Jordan... well he's always smiling like if he's damn high, and it has been awesome to see Mangini excited and nervous for his second concert. They were way more boring during PG '09, to me. Now they're kinda like before Syst. Chaos.

yeah agree stevo, James was really struggling. I was getting a little concerned but all's well. Hasn't Toured for a year so, must be tricky with everything the bands been through.

But at least we all know that Mangini F#@king rocks, more awesomeness to come from the theaters \m/
