why does no one want to put the Supercharged 5.4 of the new GT500´s under the hood of a light fox body ? everytime someone is talkin about fox body engine swaps there are always these options named:

302 strokers (331, 347 etc) or

351W strokers (408, 427 etc)

at the end a well built S/C 5.4 of the new GT500 is capable of developing 800Bhp with average pump gas. so why would you not want one of those under the hood of a light fox body instead of a heavy 351W stroker ?

But I've seen many alum. block 427c's with 1000bhp n/a, also I think the max cubes for any 351 is 432...Plus the 351 bolts right up to a T5, and fits niccely into a fox's engine bay. There'd be some cuttin' goin on with the gt500's engine...I have seen Termi engines in Foxes, really nice builds.

Dart also has a tall deck versions of the 351. You can stroke it to 468 cubic inch.

You could probably get 800+ n/a out of that with some Blue Thunder or CHI heads/intake and a big solid roller.

Only producing 1.5 hp per cubic inch that's 702 hp.

2.0 hp per cubic inch would be 936 hp.

on the other hand - the new 2011 5.0 is available for just under 7k and does develop 412Bhp stock. plus it´s a bit lighter than the old 5.0 which means you could easily get like 550Bhp out of the new 5.0 engine with some simple mods and it wouldn´t even hurt the reliability compared to those fully built 302 strokers. plus it would be even cheaper.

it would run better with the wheel on the ground. if you have to spend more time adjusting to the cars reaction, as in the gas fluttering, or wheel correction when it comes down, it is killing your time. i had a big block Camero run 6.70 in the 8th, street car, that raised the wheel just under sight of the end of the track, so it was maybe a foot n 1.5, 2 foot of the ground. that is about as high as you'd want to go to get the best performance, and keep the cars center of gravity stable.

Wheelie bars could help a little but an anti-role bar on the rear would be the best addition. It would help eliminate the role on launch, keep the fron downt a bit and hit the track straighter. Put that on with some adjustable upper control arms to set the pinion angle better and he could pretty much get that launch down and harder.
