Good vid, but all the Madison quotes bother me a little. Many of his ideas are valid, but by invading Canada, a country full of people who were not themselves enemies of the USA, I feel that he was treating Canadians unjustly. You're absolutley incorrect. Jefferson didn't care about peoples theistic beliefs or lack of, he simply wanted to ensure that religous tyranny, which leads to strife, wasn't allowed in the States. Not that it matters, but the majority of evidence points to Jefferson being an agnostic. In no way was he trying to 'make' people believe in god. The vast majority of people were theist then anyways. He was trying to secure a secular society. It's you who should read all of his words.

Jefferson was a Deist not a Theist. He was the man who penned the DOI which states that we are endowed with inalienable rights from our "Creator". In case you were wondering that means God. Check the preamble to every state's Constitution and you will find an acknowledgement to the Almighty. Not some of them but all 50 preambles. Just because our world has become more secular and people are removing God from everything does not mean he wasn't someone our founders believed in.

If he was a deist, which there isn't ample evidence to show that he was, then the 'almighty god' wouldn't be 'someone' that he believed anways. I know the founding fathers took use of the image of god when writing documents, but if they really believed that an all powerful being assured certain things, then they would have wasted their time ensuring that a secular society also upheld them. We aren't taking god out of anything, it's just obvious that the illusion doesn't belong in certain areas.

It is still a great Country and if people who believe in the Constitution of America will stand up and fight for it to once again be the document it was written to be, America will get back to being ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVSIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
