Look at all the daughters remembering their Das! Mas too, but a Da is something extra special to a girl. I'm not a Kathleen, but I sure do miss my own father who just passed last June and I'm holding onto my Ma for dear life!
(See below comment) In 1956 my father named me Kathleen after this song. Whenever I hear Dr. Ronan Tynan sing it, it brings tears to my eyes and I miss my dear father all the more.
I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen is a popular song written by Thomas P. Westendorf in 1875. In spite of its American origins, it is known and revered as an Irish ballad. Westendorf, a school teacher in Plainfield, Indiana, wrote it for his wife (who was, however, named Jennie). It's in the form of an "answer" to a popular ballad of the time, "Barney, Take Me Home Again."
I have searched for over 10 years to find someone whose, voice could ever match my Fathers , voice & the , song , as he sang this all thru the years, to our Mother .. This is the closest , I could find, but not the same ,,, but close ,, Thank-you Fellows !!!
I'm an Irish Yank, I go back every year to visit my family, I can't wait for you to see Eire myself. I assure you it's gorgeous, don't be shocked when you walk along the streets and everyone says hello. That my friend is the Irish way of doing things. Good luck and God speed.

How do the Irish do it? They sing with such emotion and their songs are as beautiful as their lovely country.
I wish I was Irish. Can't wait to visit again.

I'm Italian/American. But I love the irish ballads and no one can sing these beautiful songs, like a beautiful Irish Voice.

Connie Francis sang a few Irish ballads very well. And I bet that the Irish Tenors could do classic Italian songs very well.

Is there anything this wonderful man can't sing? Everyone should feel Irish when listening to Dr. Tynan sing. They are all wonderful...
