  • This is one of the most romantic yet innocent movies i have ever seen....Everytime i watch it i want him to get on the bus but he is a realist. Im just a sucker for romance!!!

  • makes you uncofortable doesnt it?

  • I didnt know that was the girl from uncle buck

  • @ryan49er1 She's also Greg's wife in the CBS sitcom "Yes, Dear"... but I forget what her character's name is....

  • wow, isn't Rowena a major hottie or what?? marriage destroyer if it's a weak man you're talking about, yes?

  • P.S. I love the scene when he returns to his wife. Rowena should have taken her attraction to Mr. Holland and put it in the back of her mind. Then, she could have eventually married a music teacher her own age - and maybe someday he'd come home to HER after turning down a student.

  • I really dislike Rowena... Besides, does she even come back for the end? No. She probably didn't make it anywhere.

  • Life can be painful...The decision's that one must make can be extremely heartbreaking, especially when these decisionsare dealth with when you are older and she is much younger...A memory for the hearbreak hotel, as they say...

I agree that the Mr. Holland stays true to his wife, as he should, and it a wise decision.

  • am I the only one that thinks he just has strong feelings for Rowena but he is IN LOVE with his wife, and he always was??.. he didn't stay with her because it was the right thing to do or because he got scared to try living his dreams again, but because he wanted to stay, he loved his family and his life was totally different than when he was young and had other aspirations.

  • Great music in this film micheal kamen was one hell of a composer

  • omg good movie but we watched this in band once and all of us kids were like yelling "DONT KISS HER!! THTS ILLEGAL!!! CHEATING ON UR WIFE!!" haha gt's

  • this is a great movie I could watch it over and over again.

  • So do you think Mr Holland wanted to bang that hot young chick and leave his wife? It is unclear to me.

  • I think thats a good idea, being in this generation teachers bang their students all the time. I was one once and I've seen it before. Unusual for this day.

  • Romantic tension between a young student and a mentor is a normal thing. I think we all know it.

More often than not, it quickly fades. Sometimes, it keeps building up for no clear reason. A student's hormones and a teacher's need to feel young again is a sweet and dangerous temptation.

It is, however, a beautiful thing when both choose to express themselves in an uncorrupted way: a student eagerly brushes her brow against her teacher's lips; he grants one tender and memorable kiss. It's done.

  • @josepablobolanos Normally on here, I click on "like" or "dislike", but your comment is very different, very unique and personable. You presented a different perspective I haven't seen. I don't know if you've written stories or poetry, but you should consider it. You had me from your first sentence. Thank you for your comment! I fell in love with this story line, and myself having having a major crush on a teacher that started when I was 13 (and I'm still blushing over him at age 46!)...

  • @hootiemays

I truly appreciate your feedback. My only intention was to convey the idea that there really is an inherent beauty in the connection that can be established between a student and a teacher or coach or instructor or older friend... so long as things are handled with heart and scruples.

A student can walk up to you and greet you years later with the utmost gratefulness and appreciation when things work out that way... and I think that's worth everything in this profession.

  • So sad...he had to watch his soulmate walk out of his life forever, but he did the right thing by staying with his wife and son...not too many people have this sort of character these days. :'(

  • sometimes in life u may fall in love with the right person, but they either appear too late in your life, or in the wrong timing.

  • She has guts and you have to respect that. And all she needed as a little push from him

  • omg! we watched this in my music class this week and at first when my teacher was talking about it I thought it would be borig..but OMG! I loved it..it is such a beautiful movie!

  • That lady in the crowd, with the curly hair and spectacles was Ms. Rowena Morgan herself!! She is ofcourse, much older here and it was she who knew that Mr. Holland was writing his Opus! And it was she who wanted to give back something to Mr. Holland for his sincerity and guidance. Obviously, she realized by then, that he did the right thing in not following her to NY.

  • a promise of marriage is a test for life.

  • Makes me cry everytime I see... One of the greatest scenes in the movie, but sooooo sad :-( However, he was right to stay with his family, though it hurts them both somehow.

  • i LOVE this movie !!! can you plz do the scene where mr holland helps the little girl ( i forgot her name ) with the red hair play the clarinet and he says play the sunset ? plz that's my fave scene 1 thnx for the vid

  • I love this scene. :)
