This song is still being played on the radio. I grew up wondering who this Judy was because there are two songs mentioning her. Ms. Gore has decades of wonderful music for us. I guess I am one of those rabid fans. "Don't you say anything bad about Lesley!" I am laughing at myself. Perhaps I should just say I am a dedicated fan. :) I mean, I wouldn't punch someone in the nose if they said some disparaging remark about Ms. Gore.

Gore was never a great singer and by her own admission. Gore even noted in a TV interview that "It's My Party" was an accident. Headed into the hands of a girl group, it was intercepted by Quincy Jones and rushed Gore into the studio to record it and quickly get it to the masses. She admits there are several musical and vocal mistakes in the final product. It still stands the test of time. Great Song!

Lesley let Quincy take over in 1975 when she recorded her album, Love Me By Name, featuring the songs Immortality; and Sometimes. He overspent the budget on production with no money for promotion. Album got great reviews but due to lack of promotion, the album failed.
