  • i keep getting misses. what am i doing wrong?

  • @zbicada5 INcrease your pan tension by tightening the bolt that holds the pan, Make is so its not flopping

This will allow the yote to put most its weight on the pan before it trips

  • @bowhunterjohn63 ok thanks man!

  • @zbicada5 No problem, let me know how you do ok !

  • @bowhunterjohn63 i caught 2 grey fox! no coyotes yet. dam!

  • @zbicada5 Greys are really neat aren't they, would love to do a full body mount on one someday, got too many deer heads waiting to be done first LOL

  • @bowhunterjohn63 Haha ya the first one i caught was a HUGE female! my dad agreed to let me get in full body mounted! its soo pretty! the grey is so big the taxidermist has to special order the mold and reform it just to make it big enough! im so pumped!

  • @zbicada5 awesome

  • nice video, be shure to check out my videos on trapping to

  • do you dye and wax your cable stakes im an amature trapper and id like to learn

  • @skiggg1 No, I do boil them to take away the scent

  • @bowhunterjohn63 thanks for the tip

  • Anyway is an adverb and cannot under any circumstance be made plural.

    Anyways is not a word.

  • @1SixpenceFan

Thanks for the English lesson LOL. My grandmother was a english major from IU and my mother would always correct my english LOL, I could always get her "goat" by saying "ain't" she'd get all riled up

  • i found good sign/scat from the yotes but bad thing is its where i set for my coon and id be getting scent everywhere. any ideas on what i should do?

  • keep the great vid coming

  • Man where do you live that looks like the place i wanna start trapping at

  • the two people who dislike this vid are tree huggin hippies

  • Well done man i love how you explained that step by step thank you hope to see more, you are a big help thank you.

  • did you wory about scent on this set?

  • @kills4funandprofit

NO , I still prefer wax paper

  • @kills4funandprofit what is wax paper or trap pan covers used for any ways .i have caught plenty of fox without either of the two .i would greatly appreciate the info

  • Very informative

  • who is slim peterson?

  • @modrzejewski1 look him up on google he has his own trapping dvds

  • Good Video!

  • Good Video1

  • thanks for puting this video up i think itll help me with coyotes in the future

  • can you use 11/2 coil spings for a coyote?

  • @bullridingmike

yes, I prefer at least a 1.75, but have caught them in 1.5's.

I use mostly Bridger traps, and have caught them in 1.65 Bridgers that are four coiled

  • Thanks for another good instructional video!

  • nice song

  • hah oh damn, i posted the comment right before you said you wrere using berkshire. lol i just got those, and im new to it. I used to use rebar and double stake them, but i thought id give them a try. Can you explain or make a video on how to use them proprly ? i put them in all the way and everything with rebar but when i pull up to set it, it usually just pulls out without much effort. any tips ?

  • In some soils , especially real wet clay, the cable stakes can pull back out without grabbing.

Our ground is frozen now, but I will make a video as soon as possible

I would bet your driver bar is too pointed and is digging in to the point of the cable stake anchor. and pulling back a little when you pull it out.

Try turning the driver a half turn or so before pulling it out, then pull up at an angle on the cable to set the anchor.

Let me know if this works or doesn't

  • hey man, what kinda cable steaks are you using ?

  • please help me fast i need to know how to trape coyotes and not my dogs please

  • Well first off, you should not be trapping near where domestic dogs run. That would not be ethical or responsible .

If you have dogs near, they will come to a coyote set.

  • the way i trap is with a call and a gun lol.

i trap rabbits and coons tho. never thought of coyotes.

    might try it

  • i just made a set yesterday and i put up a trail cam and it made a video and when i watched it the raccoon didnt walk around the backin it walked right over it but it still got caught i used dobbins backbreaker lure

  • That trail cam might deter coyotes

But coons are another thing LOL, they don't care, they just want to investigate anything.

This set will catch coons, usually big boars.

    Good luck

  • am a rookie trapper ,ur video is cool , these mfffffkas got my pets so its payback

thanks for the all the good tips looks like u know what u doin ,,,, keep it up....

  • Thanks for the kind words

  • these sneaky pests got my chickens it was ugly too and i'm not buying more fence, thanks for posting this!

  • Thanks, good luck

Also watch for coons, mink and fox, they love chickens too.

  • i've been setting traps and snares for the same reason i only lost three but thats three too many!

  • well now my nanny is about to have kid(s) so i'm a little concerned, i had an entire house built for the chickens though but i'm over it i'm just gonna buy traps for the back half of the property its' too muddy

  • yeah i set my trap and the first night i caght a possum.

  • hey i was wondering about a good coyote bait you can get at a grocery store. if you have any ideas let me know.

  • Well I have heard some people catching them on peperoni sticks, or old meat.

I dont' like using bait like that for coyotes because it attracts too many non target critters like SKUNKS - LOL

  • thanks for the info. i'm going to start trapping them since they've desimated my deer herd!

  • coyotes? wont really harm deer... maybe just maybe a stray, very young fawn. but they dont kill deer. maybe youve got wolves

  • They are murderous on the fawn and after the rut bucks that are weak.

Watched them track down a small doe one night, about 6 of them. They finally got her after an hour

  • honey on baccon works REALY well for coyote sets, i have had realy good luck with it u should try it and make a vid of what u catch.

  • im 13 and i do almost the same exact things but i use a #3 duke traps. I think they work the best. Great video

  • great vid just gettin into trapping and these types of vids are really informative thanks and keep it up

  • great video very informative

  • last year was my first year using poly. just might have it happen still, huh?? lol

  • i like to use poly fill under my pan. its the stuffing filler that is used in pillows, you can get it at wal-mart for about 3 or 4 bucks a bag and it will last you a WHILE!! also when using salt it has a tendency to be a problem with attracting rabbits and dear

  • Not a fan of poly, had it freeze up on my a few times, also I use non-iodized salt, no problems with deer or rabbits

  • What a great video. Do you ever find you have any problems with deer being attracted to the salt? Any deer tripping the traps and leaving them empty?

  • Occasionally, however I feel they are attracted to the salt and minerals in the urine not the salt because it happens early season also prior to salt being introduced to the set

  • What do you do when you kill the coyote? Or do you kill it for fun?

  • ???

I often wonder why comments like this are made

Why would I kill it for fun? I get no enjoyment or kicks out of killing any animal.

I get satifaction of success, but really have no emotion from the kill

But to answer your question, I sell the furs for coats , gland for lures and donate the skulls to Boy Scouts or other orginizations that educate youth about wildlife

  • I just wanted to know. I know some ppl that kill for fun.

  • People that kill for fun are not trappers. Trapping is a sport that people participate in because it helps farmers, ranchers, and locale wildlife populations when you cut back on the amount of predators in the area. Hundreds of dollars are invested in equipment, and it takes years of apprenticeship and many many books and videos to learn, it is very difficult and complicated. If some maniac wanted to kill for fun, they'd just grab a domesticated animal and kill it. Then it would be free.

  • your an idiot

  • what how do kill the coyote when you get one?

  • you shoot it

  • hi i have number 4 will it work for coyotes

  • Dale ,

Check your state regulations, Indiana does not allow for that big a trap set on land, only under water.

Usually 4's are used for beaver and otter.

But if you can use them , they will work.

let me know how it goes

  • hello i am new to trapping. Do snares kill bc i see animals that have suposidley suffacated while other animals are alive and just sitting there

  • Sound stupid but who is play that song

  • Thats not stupid, no worries ,

It is Jimi Hendrix, Watch Tower

  • OMG.......are you kidding ?

  • nvm just heard about 30 seconds later lol

  • what is the purpose of making a bowl shaped trap bed

  • i have used this set it works very well

  • 5 stars,i will try that set.

  • Excellent video!! Very informative keep them coming if you can.
