There's a video on here of my 6.0 powerstroke smoking a mustang but that's because I had about 20,000 in my drivetrain and that guy had exhaust and a tune on his mustang..... For 2500 he could have put an off brand turbo kit on the mustang and smoked me so I have to side with jerseypaul on this one.
@PyleTownCustoms ...Fellows I am not knocking the souped up diesel trucks, but the laws of physics are in favor of a lighter vehicle with a lower center of gravity! I use my 7.3 diesel to pull a trailer and never even considered the possibility of turning it into a performance vehicle. PTC is 100% correct! You put a blower on a Mustang for a reasonable price, and the party is over for a diesel truck.
I'm white and live in these Americas too! RAM, FORD and CHEVY are all made from interchangeable parts from the same plants. and same steel from that same foundry. The same plastic and leather from the same oversea's plants. The only difference is the power plant!
I'd take a Cummins over the rest any dam day brother in a stick-shift! Yeeeeehaaaaa...!!!
@rsv524 ...Look you moron, I own a 7.3 Diesel, drove a 6.4 for a couple of months and am an engineer and understand the physics involved, and what the trucks are capable of. Just saying that if I could start with a 3,400 lb. platform like a Mustang vs. a 6,000 lb. platform like an F250 crewcab that would be preferable.
Go hard 7.3! Its good to see a REAL diesel show them new sissy goverment made diesels whats up! This video proves that the tank 7.3 can run with the new corn ball diesels.
Oh come on Fellows! I own a 2000 F350 Supercab longbed 4x4 with the camper package. My truck is slow as molasses on a cold winter day! I drove a 6.4's and a new 6.7 Scorpion and they both scream compared to my old 7.3. Similar to the old fable of the tortoise and the hair, the 7.3 will out last both of them. If I want to drive something fast, I just drive my Mustang. Diesel trucks are about pulling power, fuel economy and longevity, not drag racing!
@TheNineveh ....Thanks Nine...This is all I am saying you can pick up a new 5.0 Mustang Deluxe with a 3.73 rear for around $28K now. That 5.0 absolutely screams for a lot less than a new diesel truck costs. I don't car what you do to a diesel truck it will never catch that Mustang! The trucks are designed to tow and pull heavy loads, and who cares how fast or slow they are.
@jerseypaul2007 I know exactly what you're saying Paul, some of my buddies are always fixing their souped-up diesel trucks. Its always broken EGR cooler this and blown gasket that, all my 07 Dodge has a Banks cold air intake and DPF delete and it runs just fine still.
@jerseypaul2007 you do realize that diesels regularly stomp stangs into the ground, right?a 6.4 will catch it for about $1000 and demolish it for about $2000.
@nmdiesel89 ....Oh please! My 5.0 with it's new stainless works exhaust and it's tune will crush any diesel in a race. I would not even race a truck in the first place! Try taking that F250 crew cab around a tight turn....LOL! Diesel trucks were engineered to be work horses, and not drag vehicles. You guys are the ones missing the point. You buy a high performance car like a Mustang, or a Vette to go fast and you buy a truck to work it!
@SomeRandomFeller ....Well Random, it's just one man's opinion. In about 2 weeks I am going to clean up the Mustang, Tahoe and F350, fill them up and park them. Then I am going to go out and buy some disposable piece of junk like a used high mileage Hyundai that gets 30 mpg, in anticipation of gas prices hitting $5.00 per gallon over the summer. Thanks to our President's energy policies.
@jerseypaul2007 really ANY diesel? pretty sure there are diesels that are faster than ANY 5.0 EFI or carbed has ever gone in a 1/4. your bragging about what 40 hp maybe 50 off mods? thats a economy diesel tune. a new mustang GT is about 30k or so. you buy it. ill get a 12valve cummins for under 10. throw 20k in parts to equal your purchase price. beat that gas ass at the track tow it home then go to a sled pull. fastest 5.0 out there run in the 8's the fastest diesels weigh 8,000 and run 8's
@nmdiesel89 of course you can build a truck that will beat a slightly modded 2011 5.0 Mustang in a drag race, but trucks are for hauling trailers and plowing snow and carrying stuff. Maybe I just don't get it.
@jerseypaul2007 over the last 10 years diesels have went from grandpas farm truck too 2000hp monsters. with very little modifications they can out run most gas offerings and cost much less per hp compared to gas. with just a bit of $ and and a 4x4 diesel you can beat alot of cars stop light to stop light.
@jerseypaul2007 the fastest time for a 5.0 car was a high 8 (from a year or two ago so they are probably at a mid 8 now) there are 7 sec diesel dragsters. trucks at stop lights making 600+hp and you would never know it with 4x4 boosted launches. dollar per hp diesel is cheaper. already have better top and bottom ends than gas. and oh ya the audi diesel stomped the $!#* out of all the gassers at lemans when it was first raced. then they had to limit it to make it fair to the gassers.

@rsv524 ...8,000 lbs. makes it even worse! WTF? That truck handles terribly! It would make a great tow vehicle, but not a performance vehicle?

Is that 7.3 stock?
Curious because my old 2001 f-450 7.3 with aftermarket, chip, exhaust, cooler, and turbo threw a lot more than both than the 7.3 in this video.
That 450s weakness was that POS 3 speed stock rear end and transmission, at 90mph the differential was louder than my turbo... ;)
