  • @FloreatEtona1440 I can't think of either anyone that ever thought that one was, but my rep DJ TOG with an ETA 2834-2 clone is summing to no more than a second a day fast now, a good piece inside and out, and thank god no gold, and no plating.

  • @FloreatEtona1440 u mean tell time?

  • i want to repair old watches and clocks im slowly teaching myself and my mentor is also teaching me i may not be able to work with watches like these but in time i hope i will there is no schools around me who teaches horology so im very lucky to have found a mentor to teach me for free

  • Schweizer Qualität!

  • it's just like anything else.....it's how much status you want. I have owned and worked on countless watches. I own about 300 watches, mostley vintage ones. I have everything from Timex's to rolex's. I have owned many 50 year old cheapo 20 dollar "bulova carravelle" watches that run as well as my omega's or rolex's. There will always be people who want the Jaguar instead of the Kia.....but they both get you where you want to go....same thing with watches

  • I'm a Watchmaker....but my work isn't much like theirs!! I spend half my time at my in house bench yelling at my kids to shut up while I try and sort out some tricky problem watch I won't make much $ on...

  • A Rolex is a masterpiece.. blablablabla.. A Rolex stands for design and prestige..blablablabla.. A Rolex is a symbol of distinction..blablabla..All right, we know all that, "Mr. Rolex"..... But when in hell´s name will you learn to make accurate watches??? I want a 5,000$ timepiece, but I also want an accurate timepiece that you seem unable to make...

  • Then you might want to try a Zenith.

  • Something like a watch can only be made to a certain level of skill. After that, you're paying for a brand and what that brand means. Is a $2,000 watch better than a $500 watch? Maybe not as far as the quality of the mechanics go. It may just have more exotic materials. A $600 replica Tag Heuer watch may work just as well as the $3,000 real one. The real one may have rarer materials though which is why it's so expensive. The replica is still a good watch in it's own right. You pay for the name.

  • You're overstating the case by a lot. To use your example, you can get a replica Tag Heuer watch that may keep time just as well as a real one. You can even get a fake Tag with the same Valjoux 7750 movement that goes in a lot of real ones. But the rest of the watch will be inferior--its case will not be as good, the bracelet or band will be lower quality, you're on your own for repair. There are plenty of great watches for $600 that aren't pretending to be something they aren't.

  • @LowdenFretter No you don't you pay for the materials and time it goes into making the piece....You do know that it takes a year to make a rolex movement right?

  • @shaolinschool2010 I don't know that because it isn't true

  • @shaolinschool2010 I know that's what it says on their website but i seriously doubt it. I used to work for the Lowden Guitar Company. They make very expensive hand made guitars. On their site it says the wood they use is naturally split along the grain and therefor is stronger and more natural looking. It's bullshit. The wood was passed through a table saw just like any other wood. Things like that are for stupid customers to lure them more into the 'idea' of the product.

  • there cheaper of course but where the fuck do u get the idea their better. their made by 12 year old chinese girls compared to trained profesionals
