Have no clue if it is better, but you can go on the RedOctane site and order the official mic from them, just search "Guitar Hero Wired USB Microphone (Multi-Platform)". It's on sale for $10 now, so it is a great time to buy :)

dude. the locking thingy is for if you wanna take the faceplate off. its like that on my guitar hero 3 guitar so ta. you have to take the neck off then make the locky thingy unlocked and pull the faceplate off.
