@nprvsu true, but why change up something that works? The only reason car manufacturers are making new 6+ speed trannys are to increase their company's overall fuel mileage to meet new govt. regulations and what not.
In the case of this car, it doesn't work. That tranny (4t65e) was garbage with this application. Needed to be beefed up more for the power. I had an 07 SS for awhile I'm glad I didn't have any issues with mine.

no that's called having only 4 gears so that the top speed of each gear is increased as the # of gears is decreased from 5 to 4. the motor doesn't matter it's the gear ratios
but still I think that's badass my 5 speed manual needs to go into 4th gear to reach 90
Um, yeah. Gear a DOHC inline four to hit 90 in second, and it'll take all day. You can't run that kind of gearing on a daily driver unless you have big torque numbers down low. And if my Buick was geared so it had to be in third or fourth to get to 90, it would be impossible to get off the line without smoking the tires. You gear for the motor.
My Pontiac g5 gt is just as fast if not faster.

So? My Park Ave makes 90 before it shifts to third. That's what having a motor with real torque does for you.
