  • You looked amazing. The dance too.

  • Well, that was dandy!

  • omg this is absolutely great.love it. <3

  • This is gorgeous dancing. I'd be lucky to die and be able to accomplish a fourth of what you're doing there. <3 Thanks so much for posting this.

AAANNNNDDDD: Contrary popular belief in some of the comments on this film, I think your style is fantastic and goes incredibly well with the dance.

The idea of picking up randomly at school to dance - especially something like the Charleston - is brilliantly alive. No matter what one wears...

  • That was incredible. Where did you learn this?! Thanks for posting the Savoy kicks tutorial. I guess this was four years ago, when you were a kid, so you've probably moved on--but we would love some more lessons on some of the variations you're using! I live in Australia where it's hard to find Charleston lessons in person.

Also, have you seen Max at ILHC 2010 in the Charleston finals here on Youtube? He's incredible.

  • Gotta say, messy and casual is a underappreciated look on a gal. <3

  • Cooool ^____^

  • FRICKING DO IT RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @raeloves16 Are you saying she did it right, or that she should do it right? Putting things all in caps doesn't make you any easier to understand, contrary to popular belief.

  • Wow. Have you entered any competitions? If not, you should. And you really seem to enjoy it. XD I would too, with skills like that!

  • I GOTTA DO THIS AT SCHOOL TOMMAROW FOR CREATIVE EXPRESSONS SO DIFFICULT!

  • I GOTTA DO THIS AT SCHOOL TOMMAROW FOR CREATIVE EXPRESSONS SO DIFFICULT!

  • You are a good happy feet!!!

  • These are the kinds of people that make humanity bearable.

  • wow..that is so awesome..id love to be able to do that

  • you are awesomely good!

  • haha cool

  • bravo!

  • Great work! This video really got me in the mood to do my 1920's English assignment... biggest assignment I've ever received, and I needed some motivation. ^^ Though I detect a little more of a 30's Charleston, due to the kicking, but hey- you're still amazing at it!!

  • To those who have been wondering, this is Louis Armstrong's Sugar Foot Strut.

  • And soon after I typed that, Google/Youtube provided a link to the song in the video. That is some impressive contextual recognition software. I think I am a little scared! LOL!

  • African-American dance. The Obamanation!!!

  • I wish I knew how to do this :(

  • omg omg omg ur da best!!!!! I ♥ u :D

  • Go Eve!!!

  • nice nice...steppin wishes from germany..

  • Woah!!! Amazing!!! I love charleston!!!! O.o I'm trying to follow your lessons and you're steps!!! XD XD

  • Perfect!

  • Beautiful work. A lot of interesting moves packed into three and a half minutes! One of my favorites.

  • Simple and effective.

    Brought me a smile.

    Genius

  • very nice moves...

    i m in love

  • that looks amazing thats how i want to be able to dance..how do i learn that??????

  • Kudos for the correct musical choice.

  • Here, here! I'm so tired of seeing 1920's charleston danced to swing. 1923-26 music please!

  • Swing? How is that swing? Sounds like New Orleans Trad. Jazz/Dixieland to me. If she was dancing to Glenn Miller or Benny Goodman, I would see your point.

  • he/she wasnt saying it was a bad choice. here here usually means yes. not no. The point was that this music is much better than the glenn miller/benny goodman. but then again, almost anything louis or ella is better than glenn/benny.

  • Ahhh, yeah, I did read that wrong. My mistake. "Here, here" doesn't meant 'I agree' though. "Hear, hear" is how it should have been spelled for that meaning. I take exception to your assertion that Glenn and Benny aren't any good by saying "any Louis or Ella is better than Glenn/Benny."

  • i didn't say they werent good and they dont have their places, but louis and ella are fairly unbeatable, especially together.

  • I guess I'll just have to agree to disagree, then. Our musical leanings are clearly in slightly opposite directions.

  • fair enough. To each his own.

  • Warped Genii say: How can anything lean in "slightly opposite" directions?

  • You are so right! It is Hear, hear. Isn't English a ghastly language? I pity people who are trying to learn it as a second language.

  • im favoritin this

  • you're soooo cute! wow <3

  • amazing!!!!

    marry me :)))))))

kisses from a tanguero from Belgium :)

  • wow:D

  • Awesome! That's all I can say!

  • Beautiful!

  • You got it, babe! ;)

  • Think for yourself

  • No! Dress like a squirrel! A girl squirrel!

  • lmao

  • That was freakin awesome!!

  • OMG!!! thats as AMAZING!!!! i give you mucho props :D

  • Wow you're fantastic dancer, well i'm new meet in this kind of dance but it's so beauty your dancers way.

Can said me somebody what's the name of this song (track)?

  • that was fantastic. you're so smooth.

  • it kind of looks like your incorporating some tap moves in the routine

  • That was a lot of fun...great job! a study hour not wasted!

  • And you behave like a 21st century douchebag. Jealousy is ugly on you. Much uglier than 90's crackhead.

  • Maybe, but that's irrelevant. People treating others like shit perpetuates hate. That's a real person there, dancing, doing her thing. Don't you guys think she's got feelings too? Don't you know how it is to be talked down to like that? It HURTS. Do humanity's future a favor and squelch that kind of behaviour next time it pops into your mind. Spread some love for a change.

  • i love this video, watch every day, thanx!

  • Wow good job :3

  • thats pretty frickn' sweet

  • luv the style !

  • 2:28, awesome

  • holy sheckler! charleston at school :D awsm!

  • You did such an impressive job, I would love to see this with you wearing the clothes of the era while dancing!! Bravo!

  • yes, you´re awesome

  • I love it. I wish I could do that. You should film a bit in costume/Black and White/ Aged Film Effects/ & sped up film. That's what I'd do.

  • pretty awesome...

  • Damn good

    Go Girl :)

  • That, my dear, was The Cat's Meow and The Bee's Kneees! You are really, really good!!

  • Hey you're awesome! God I'd love to learn.

  • I'm not quite sure but is it likely that we had a brownie together one of the nights at Herrang this summer? :o)

  • very likely!

  • i wanna learn swing dancing and i need a partner, you in :)

  • you're great!!! don't listen to those who says you suck! they're jealous!!!

  • Yes, she's great, i like her

  • Wow I adore your improv. Started doing tap not too long ago and also getting into swing so i'm sort of no quite there yet but your vid gives me inspiration. How long did it take you to feel confident in your improvisation? I live in England so it's not as common to take (or even find) tap/swing dance classes, it's not fair!!

  • I think it is different for everybody...but the main thing is just to find the moves that work for you. Do them over and over and over again. While you are waiting for the bus, waiting online for the toilet, etc.

  • Listen to the music, constantly. You have to love the music. Come back to old steps that you found too difficult, and try to use your whole body with every motion. Maybe the step looks like only the feet or legs are involved, but it is really your whole body that should be working. Most importantly, don't THINK- just listen to the music, and the movement will come.

  • @twentythreeskidoo That's exactly right! it involves loving the music a lot. The people of this time will never comprehend it. It's very silly and pathetic to type hateful comments about those who practice it. Perhaps you should make your vids private. Keep it up!!!!

  • real great! was this improvisation?!?

anyways, continue like this, you dance very well!

  • yes, all improvisation. I'm glad you like it, though it is from a while ago, so I am always a little embarrassed to watch it.

  • hihi! well, there is no reason to be embarassed! that was cool! (plus it's improvisation!)

  • and, there's more! ...I juste re-watch it, and you are soo musical in your moves!! :D

  • your flippin' adorable!

  • I've just fell in love right away with your sweet swinging skills! i'm starting my dancing lessons today justo to catch you @NY! thank you darling!

  • Che simpatia.

  • Dont listen to them, they are just jealous. They say you suck but they dont even know how to do step one. Im not able and find it very hard, but you make it look easy. Very very good, now go to class

    -J0k3R

  • haha yeah i like it

  • You need to flap your arms about more.

  • I think your thinking of the modern charleston, her dance was invented before WWII, and I think that unless you have a clue as to what your talking about, you should be seen and not heard. (maybe being seen is too over rated for you...)

  • I love what you do, you should post some basic steps so we can learn something...please

  • very impressive my dear, but you need a skirt to moove and leather shoes to glide, then you will stun folks, go at it and make a fuss, narkedoff.

  • hehehe awesome! oh the many times i danced during my free periods at school... oh the memories... thanks for reminding me :D

  • you ook like a person from unsolved mysteries the way you are dreesed! How dare you dance and wear such...terrible clothes.

  • hahaha. sorryy.

  • Awesome.I love it!! I am now determined to learn this.

  • I think I love you. Let's swing sometime.

  • wow, it took you a year to learn that? do you know any other dances?

  • well...a year to develop any kind of vocabulary. This was way at the start of last year, I like to think that I'm better/more comfortable/balanced with it now.

I do collegiate shag, charleston, lindy, a tiny bit of tap, jazz. I just started samba and Argentine tango. I love finding new movements in other dances and encorprating them into my charleston. Because what is charleston? Charleston is two kicks on each leg and then whatever the hell else the music makes you feel.

  • wow that was amazing! i wished i could do something as great as that.

  • I absolutely love that!! I'd give anything to be able to Charleston! Keep up the great work!

  • good job, but dont you think your dressing a little too like a guy...wouldv liked to see you in something better than a t shirt and ripped guys jeans....

  • are you kidding, I love her outfit :D

  • that was an amazing job! you're too cute! you look like you are having so much fun dancing to the tune...it completely makes the dance

  • that is truelly a beautiful site... iv just started learning swing.. and im trying my best to learn as much as possible..

  • I think it took me about a year to get to the point where I could improvise and have enough vocabulary to have fun with it. You just have to practice constantly, learn new moves from other people, watch other people, watch old and new footage, find out which moves are meant for you/speak to you, and then try your damndest to get them into your body so that they flow out naturally and dynamically. I think learning charleston is a lifelong process.

  • How long did it take for you to learn The Charleston?

  • HOTT

  • Thanks!

  • You're awesome!
