  • The most brilliant thing anyone has done.

  • They´re genius

  • True genius <3 Not only did they make Doctor who fabulous and most enjoyable than ever before but they also made something sooo well known and popular, modern yet classy and classic. If I'm not I dont think anyone could have done it better and its cuz of these few facts that I'm glad to be british <3

  • I like how (at least in the two season two episodes I've seen) are always in reasonably close distance and always keeping the timing of shots strong. Even for longer ones, because the acting and writing is so spot on it doesn't feel overdone.

  • Haha I love Benedict <3 Fangirls Unite!

  • Sherlock Confidential ples :)

  • What are you deducing, Sherlock @ 0:16 ?

  • At about 1:03 I sort of stopped listening because there was a shot of Benedict's smile...

  • Can't...wait...for....series 2...any...longer. Having...Sherlock...withdrawal...symptoms.*Gasp for air*

  • I'm glad it was Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and the BBC, and not just anyone, who decided to modernise Sherlock Holmes. I don't think anyone could have pulled it off like they have.

  • 0:19 sleepy cumberbatch......awwww

  • 1:41 i died....i am actually dead.....

  • Dear Mr. Moffat and Mr. Gatiss,

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Don't marry off Watson and or Holmes. I think I would die if you did. They have such chemistry that a woman/women would destroy that.

Thank you for your time if you even read these things at all.

LIKE IF YOU FELL THE SAME.

    Love to you all.

  • Thank GOD they did it before the Americans could get their hands on it. Damn. Imagine the disaster that would have been. >.>

  • @ChanelCoco555 Gosh. I don't even want to think what the American media machine would have done with this gem. (I am American btw.) There is just something quite intoxicating with British TV when it is done well. I think it is the humor and whit that is used so artfully that makes it so addicting. Thank God for the BBC shows that do make their way across the pond. (I wish more would.) There really wouldn't be a thing worth watching over here if they didn't.

  • 0:17-27: Benedict Cumberbatch seems with his thoughts elsewhere. Such a cute sight he gives!

  • @LlansleyNinja141 Actually, Gatiss has been writing Doctor Who for a long long time and is really passionate about it, and a few of the first things he ever wrote were like corrections of the fall of Doctor Who, when it got kind of boring and ratings dropped. If they didn't have a passion for it, they wouldn't do it, it'd be a waste of their time. And maybe Doctor Who isn't your cup of tea, that's why you see it like that. I, on the other hand, don't.

  • PEOPLE SERIOUSLY GO TO 1:05!!! OMG HOT SO SEXY!!!!! unfff

  • GOD, I did not get it was Mycroft.... for weeks ....shame°°

  • I just realized that Steven Moffat also did "Coupling" which is one of my favourite sitcoms^^ He undoubtly is the man xD

  • Hey, does anyone know when the second season will be airing in America? I would love to know, 'cause I'm American and absolutely in love with the show. Not to mention the entire cast.

  • @miceruletheworld42 I've heard it won't show this fall. (Perhaps because Freeman and Cumberbatch are filming The hobbit?) It will be broadcasted early 2012.

  • @785CJ20 Aha. Thank you! *makes a mental note to go see the Hobbit when it comes out*

  • @miceruletheworld42 They recently released the date for america, which is May 6, 2012. :)

  • @HEARTLESSnumber9 DAMN. That long? *curls up in a corner and sobs* Thanks~

BUT WHYYYYY. WHY MUST IT BE SO LATE.

  • @miceruletheworld42 DO NOT WORRY. I SHALL CRY WITH YOU. ;_; and we get it late because we suck.

  • @miceruletheworld42 Blame Hobbit. Martin Freeman couldn't be on both sides of the planet at the same time.

  • @IzDiaries Ah. That WOULD be difficult *sigh* Oh well!

  • @IzDiaries lol neither could benedict, he's in the hobbit too

  • @SongPhantom No, Benedict hasn't left for doing his stuff yet. He goes in January.

  • Does anyone know if this series will have any more episodes. I have seen the first 3

  • @Themanxx456 season 2 filming now. will be shown on bbc this fall.

  • @Themanxx456 There are only three. It ends on the cliffhanger in the pool

  • cumberbatch is so sexy and freeman is so hillarious xD love that combination!

  • Why are they so young?

Is it like, before most Sherlock books took place or is like...a reboot or something that totally disregards all other Sherlock fiction?

  • @lasse4eva It starts off from their very first meeting, before they move in together. It actually follows the stories rather closely with the first episode being based off the first book, A Study in Scarlet. A Study in Scarlet actually takes place in 1881, making Watson about 29 (born in 1852) and Sherlock 27 (generally accepted as being born in 1854). The actors playing the two are in their 30s. For a story that starts at the *very* beginning, I think their ages are fine.

  • Who are the director and D.O.P. of the intros does anybody know???

  • at 1:02 benedict smiles. oh god that smile made my day <3

  • In the original Sherlock Holmes it all took place in the birth of modern technology... and everything was really cutting edge for it's time. Now we're in the times where high-tec technology is common use... with internet, cellphones, sattelites so it should fit very well.

  • What's the name of the tune playing in the background??

  • okey it's really disturbing hear Mycroft talk about another thing, hahha xD. I love that serie, it's awesome.

  • Fuck me, Benny is HOT at 1:40.

  • i can't wait for Series 2 coming later this year. it will be great.

  • is martin freeman wearing the jacket that they had for the bomb by the pool scene?!?!

  • Mark campaign hat with a star of the CPSU bought??we have such people in Russia very much)

  • So it had an influence of doctor who a bit because if there wasn't doctor who probably not sherlock Holmes in a modern day version by Steven moffet and I like his stories:)

  • is it strange to be jealous of the woman at 1:04?

  • @edgeygavin LMAO!!! But no... Because it'd make me strange. And I'm anything but that...

  • oh my gawd! he is mycroft!!! O.O

  • I'm so glad they did put their idea to use after all those years. This series is amazing. Mark Gatiss is my celebrity crush, not gonna lie. Mycroft's been my favorite since I found out who he was (someone MORE intelligent than Sherlock? SIGN ME UP, I don't give a crap if he's pudgy in the books!). Then Mark went and played this... Brilliant version of Mycroft... My love can't be contained. ;) I love him more than Sherlock and John (sorry Benedict and Martin. :( ).

I love this series so much.

  • 1:02. GUH. I need an animated icon of that.

  • they have made sherlock sexy!?!?!?!?!?! hows that happened???? lol

  • @missadric2

    It happened because;

    1) Intelligence is sexy in general

    2) They worked in the "IF WE MAKE HIM UNATTAINABLE, FANGIRLS WILL WANT HIM MORE" element, very sexy and you know it

    3) They cast Benedict Motherfucking Cumberbatch as Sherlock, who is sex embodied.

All of these togetehr form the trifecta of Sexy!Sherlock

  • @MistoxDialore ah good at least theres a VERY good explaination for my attraction to him and at least im not the only one!!!! thank you for explaining!!!!

  • WHERE'S YOUR UMBRELLA MYCROFT?!

  • Isnt that the Soviet Union symbol on his hat?

  • yes ....his hat is very beautiful!!!!))))

  • @animagigirl Weenie!? House is more bad ass than goody two-shoes Holmes :D

  • 1:11 NOT LITERALLY! see xkcd strip no. 725

  • Wow!! USSR hat ))

  • Well I'm effing hooked on this show. Thanks a lot, PBS-- Now I have to sit around pining until next fall, hahaha. I can't deal with BBC seasons... Must. have. Instant. Gratification. .....arrrrghhhhhh....

  • I really hope that they continue adding to the three amazing episodes.

  • I'm sorry but i had to play that again cause at some point Benedict smiled and i lost my train of thought. I think it was at 1:03 and 1:41....now i feel guilty cause he's lots older than me...nahhh who cares;)

  • AAAHHHHH!!!!! 1:02!!! *thud*

  • I saw the first episode of Sherlock at the New York Comic-Con and just watched it again on the Masterpiece Mystery episode this evening, Really brilliant,

I haven't enjoyed something Sherlock Holmes related this much since the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series.

  • @cha5 you're not alone - ive been watching all three since i saw them on masterpiece a couple weeks ago. i thought i'd never find anyone to replace jeremy brett as sherlock holmes, but i'm incredibly impressed and enamored of benedict cumberbatch. cheers on finding a like mind :)

  • Hahah Mycroft should wear that!

    Love the style.

And of course, lots and lots of love for Sherlock.

  • Nice hat, Mycroft :)

  • @soulfire667 That comment made laugh so hard it still hurts

  • @soulfire667 hahah oh totally. mycroft dressed like that *writes fanfiction*

  • @dotchoo LINK ME UP TO IT YOU SEXY THING.

  • I really LOVE the comunist badge on his hat :D

  • these guys are fucking geniuses for making this show. love ittttttttt

  • I want Mark Gatiss' hat at 0:10!!

  • @jennyteo LOL I can share XD

  • Steven Moffat is awesome ! =D

Benedict would have been an AMAZING doctor ! I want him as the Doctor !!

  • love how he's (MARK GATISS) playing Mycroft and being the creator at the same time. :)

  • So excited for the next series. Sucks that we'll be waiting around a year, but if that's how long it takes to make such a good programme, then they shouldn't rush it.

  • Anyone know of the possibility of this show crossing the pond? I read about it in crossing and really, really want to see it!

  • @iveseenspikynorman They're airing it on Masterpiece Theatre, on PBS, starting sometime in October.

  • @iveseenspikynorman They're showing it on PBS in the fall. 8D

  • I don't even bother with Doctor Who so I'm majorly glad he played Sherlock instead. Amazing actor.

  • SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR! (no offense to matt smith i love him as the doctor but, too many dont like him as the doctor.)

  • @doctorw2

haha its kind of funny because Matt Smith got the job by first auditioning for John. He was too similar to Benedict, who they'd already cast as Sherlock, so they offered him Eleven instead :)

  • Best thing on TV for a very long time! I loved the series so much, that I'm watching it again! :)

  • THANK BLOODY GOD THESE BRILLIANT MEN DECIDED TO DO IT. Because it would have been a crying *shame* if this modern adaptation had been done by anyone less nimble-minded and devoted to the Holmesian *truth*.

  • So glad that they decided to do it themselves! Great Writers!

Big fan of both Doctor Who and Sherlock :D

  • If there's a series of Sherlock I think Moffat will explode. I think they should keep it to a three, one and a half hour episodes each year. Quality over quantity.

  • Sherlock was AMAZING. The cinematography is mind blowing!

  • I loved the series! I usually give a new show 30 minutes to impress me, if after 30 minutes, i'm bored, then i switch it off and watch something else, ten minutes in to Sherlock and i was liking it, 20 minutes in to it, i was loving it!!

All hail The Moff and the sex hat tehe :)

And Benedict is all different kinds of yummy! ;)

  • I'm a Sherlock's fan and I have all Arthur Conan Doyle books and in this show really they get simulating the characters and the scene in a perfect way xDD I love it and I love too the diferent way to recreate all in 21st century xDDDD New and addictive..

  • great sherlock.

    shit moriarty

  • @DrAubergine

nah, I love this charakter. He's amusing.

  • I actually prefer this to doctor who. I never thought that would happen.

  • I am loving the and I do hope they do make more but I do hate how they say they are the first ones to put holmes is modern era. All the way up to Basil Rathbones first performance as Holmes he was put in the modern day and age in which it was filmed. Also most of Rathbones Holmes movies are put in modern era (well the era in which it was filmed) So they are not the first to do this. They are the first to put Holmes in the 21st century that is all

  • @1kissbee

Moffat acknowledges that in other longer interviews about the series, so I believe the "story behind the series" has just been shortened and simplified for this type of teaser-interview.

  • @1kissbee I think that's what they meant, they were talking in the present.

  • Great new Sherlock personality - brilliant

  • THANK YOU SOO MUCH! Bring on Sherlock!

  • doctor who -> sherlock - > doctor who

  • have really enjoyed first two episodes and looking forward to tomorrows- really brilliant

  • Good news!!! This is replacing Dr.Who!!!

    Just kidding.

  • Although, I would've liked this to be set during the18th century , but yet, I cannot help loving the show. From the moment I knew that they would be producing a new version of sherlock homes, I did not think I would end up enjoying it that much. It is no doubt one of the best tv series on tv at the moment.

  • Sherlock, to me, is portrayed like a slightly darker version of The Doctor. And yes, I do realise that both series have the same writer but still, the character traits are too similar to ignore.

    I adore this series.

  • okay the ending of the second episode was awsome :D

  • Please, make more episodes. ):

  • Please get Stephrn Fry to be Moriarty.

  • I fancy Sherlock...does that make me weird?

  • @jo979 No I do as well. You are definitely not alone.

  • @jo979 If it does, then I'm weird and proud!

  • @jo979 not at all friend... not at all...

  • @jo979 i thought it was just me!

  • @jo979 it'd be weird if you don't fancy Sherlock at all.

  • @jo979 your not alone :L

  • @jo979 You are talking to the lass that has been fancying Marcus Tullius cicero since she was 15.

  • @jo979 not at all! who DOESNT?! :)

  • @jo979 I fancy Mycroft. I'm weird, I admit. Umbrella!

  • @TheWonderfulWombat I share your taste, can't help myself :D

  • @jo979 it does if ur a dude!

  • @jo979

Well, I've always been a Watson girl myself, but no... there is absolutely nothing wrong with lovin' you some Holmes :)

  • @jo979

NOT AT ALL, MY DEAR. NOT AT ALL.

  • @jo979 no I'm right there with you

  • @jo979 I can't wait for season 2. If you haven't seen the unaired pilot, you have to watch it. It is really good but I love the three episodes they made and I love Mycroft. Is it really writer Mark Gatiss?

  • @eventingirl001 I love the unaired pilot episode, its on my channel.

  • @jo979 'Tis all right! I fancy Watson meself! LOL!

  • really enjoyed it.......cant wait for more.

  • @boldertits Nobody here at all agrees with you... lmao. That's why your comment is flagged and spam and has no thumbs.

Doctor Who and Sherlock are both amazing, you're probably one of those people who hate everything popular and good and brainwash yourself to think the worst things out there are great. Grow upp and face it, Moffat and Gatiss are fab. (:

  • @boldertits "This comment has received too many negative votes"

    Again, lol.

    Nobody agrees with you.

Series 5 is my favorite, Series 1 is my second favorite. That going along with my three favorite Doctors being 11, then 9, then 4. (:

Sherlock seems to work for everybody but you, darling.

  • I actually thought it was pretty good!! I'm looking forward to tomorrow's.

  • What's the name of the song in the trailer???

  • @Michaletosjr - it's Uprising by Muse

  • OMG this is soo good!!!!!!!!!! IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN DOCTOR WHO! i wish they make more more moreeeeee

  • Simplemente demasiado bueno... mejor que House por mucho, suerte!

  • Mycroft's Blackberry babe was pretty fit.

  • MOFFAT IS LIFE.

  • whenever benedict smiles...i can see a little Alex de large(malcolm mcdowell) in him

  • Totally awed by this modern-day adaptation. They did a wonderful job with it! Sir Conan Doyle would be proud =)

  • WHAT IS THAT SMIRK UNFFF SO HOT.

  • @Pohjantahti um. yes. high pitched squeeing :D

  • about 1:00 in... Benedict Cumberbatch's little smile... :o :D

  • Martin Freeman is adorable. It makes me so sad that I can't watch this show because I'm in America. :(

  • Moffat is the best script writer in the UK. Genius.

  • Thank you Moffat and Gatiss.

  • This was great

  • most excellent, very entertaining, really nicely done, works well set in modern time, I especially like how they show text messages, nicely graphic, as well as Holmes' thought process, full of energy, great cast and yes - in my opinion, better than the recent Ritchie/Downey Jr. version.

  • Soundtrack from this series last night was totally lifted from the recent SH film!

  • @chunggokyan- I noticed that too

  • Great fun. I'm glad they kept it quite dark. More please !

  • Just see it and it's T.V. perfection. Moffat better make room on his mantlepiece fot he awards coming his way. Is it next sunday yet ??

  • 0:24 yeah they did, it's call House

  • @gawpertron yeah but an ACTUAL sherlock holmes. not a limping weenie

  • SEX HAT!!!!!!!!! ROTFL.

I want it... I want Sherlock more. But I want the Sex Hat too. And am really starting to like a bit of Benedict Cumberbatch XD

  • Ahahaha! Oh lol. SEX HAT.

  • SEX HAT

  • I hope it makes its way to BBC America quickly!

  • @tbstoller Its coming to PBS

  • @tbstoller Can't you get it on BBB i player TB ?

  • With Steven Moffat working on it there is no way this show can fail. This is the guy who wrote Jekyll after all. BTW the guy playing Sherlock is really hot. He really looks like a modern Sherlock Holmes

  • @chunggokyan Did you miss the part where they say they've been talking about Holmes for years? Holmes is the most used character in fiction next to Dractula, Guy Ritchie doesn't own a monopoly on telling stories or versions of stories about him.

  • @chunggokyan shhhh go watch your one tree hill and gossip girl

  • this looks really good - love steven mottat and mark as writers so cant wait til its on TV :)

  • I'm so excited for this! But I can't figure out when it comes out in america! D:

  • Wonder if Watson will be a wounded veteran of the Afghan campaign. Plus ca change...

  • @Dashdecent that's exactly what they're doing

  • The idea of Sherlock always appealed to me but then the setting and pace would roll on and I'd instinctively flick. Holmes is a genius unofficially advising and helping the police and Watson is his helpful companion. So basically Doctor who the unit years downscaled somewhat but with the best writers of recent times.

  • When is this going to be on TV!?!?! i must know XD

  • @SuspiciousChickens Sunday 25th July at 9pm on bbc1
