I should probably clarify, by "unrealistic" I mean for the setting of retro-futuristic post-post-apocalyptic America. Meaning crazy anime looking armors and huge flaming magic swords. In all of the mod videos I've seen, I've never seen a weapon or armor I would even remotely want in my game world. And by "game breaking" I meant weapons/armor that are more powerful than any in the game and that you can get the second you start the game. Again, I would love new locations from mods though.

However, there -are- a lot of good mods that mix well with the game's post-apocalyptic future-50s environment. Good mods really extended Fallout 3's replay value for me. (Not so much New Vegas, which I don't like nearly as much as Fallout 3)

Console gamer here. I don't think I would want mods so bad if the actual game provided player housing even close to as awesome as some of these house mods. It's the added weapons/armors/items/etc. that are often unrealistic and game breaking that I find ridiculous about modding in general. Added locations would be amazing though. By the way, I heard that in Skyrim, the new Elder Scrolls game coming out in Novemeber, consoles are going to be able to use mods.

Oh As well you need to select the files in the game launcher under game data just to activate it. You can deactivate any mods that you have active simply by unselecting them in the launcher. You can make mods with the GECK (garden of eden creation kit) or you can download them on (fallout nexus.com) they will automatically be placed into the launcher.

Also for computer mods look up garden of Eden creation kit on the bethesda site. Its for Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

There are tutorials all over youtube and the web, I don't know if they have much on there site instruction wise... you need to have 7-zip or win rar to open the file by extracting it. Its very easy to use and I believe it was used to partially make some of the game... I does take sometime to get used to though.

You just need to save then to your game files in programs/new-vegas.

To get mods on the Xbox you need to get Modio but it is only good for getting things like infinite money or life or skill points. You can get it free from its web site, It has a few bugs with windows seven tho. You need a free USB flash drive (the little 1,2,3 G sticks or whatever) and you would put the save files from your games onto that and then add the stuff into the saves from modio, all the how to stuff is on there site and there are many tutorials out there... hope this helped :P

@Irockman1 Sorry but you're wrong, this will work on ps3 and the 360. You can place items in the GECK, then load 360/ps3 saves on the pc version with the mod installed and disable then enable every object in the mod using the console, and it will basically write them to the saved game, you can then put it back on the 360/ps3 and you will have any items you added. This doesn't count for custom mesh/textures of course but I didn't see any custom ones in your mod.

I believe I can help, but it will take a bit of work. Whenever you build a good rep with a faction(eg, the NCR, Followers of the Apocalypse) One of their representatives may extend an offer for you to join them. In addition, they will give you a key to a permanent safehouse in the wasteland. These safehouses also come with certain bonuses, For example: the NCR safehouse is stocked with some rare, powerful weapons and armor, and the followers send a doctor to their safehouse (cont)..

@Irockman1 Actually 'mods' can be downloaded for the PS3, it requires a few third part applications and some tinkering around, but it is possible to get mods. Very limited though due to the files structure of a console.
