However to say the treaty made Hitler possible is riddiculous. To say so would imply that the German peole elected him which is not true. He was placed in power by President Von Hindenburg. What happened to Germany was the result of its economic dependency on the US and the weaknesses of its constitiution.

No German would ever deny the responsibility for WW2. That's common sense in Germany, so there's no need to mention it here, but for almost 65 years no one took a closer look at the circumstances on the Germans side, things were painted in black and white by post war propaganda, and all Germans were labelled as Nazi monsters.

True current events have an impact on how history is studied and what bit are looked at. In a text6 book from the 50's the Russians may well have only be mentioned in passing. But in the 60's (when the USSR and USA were getting on better) the USSR's contribution would have had discussed more.

actually that is not true. The figure for Dresden is closer to between 30,000 and 40,000. It is no where near 300,000. Also the reason for the high casulties was, the dry weather conditions and the resulting Firestorm.

Thanks to Chamberlains declaration of war on Germany this happened. Instead we should have become allies to put an end to communism to avoid the cold war.

However to say the treaty made Hitler possible is riddiculous. To say so would imply that the German peole elected him which is not true. He was placed in power by President Von Hindenburg. What happened to Germany was the result of its economic dependency on the US and the weaknesses of its constitiution.

Germany had started to recover, but when the Crash occured and the US called its loans in all nations in Europe suffered.Hitler therefore blamed the allies for Germanys psoition. That's common sense in Germany, so there's no need to mention it here, but for almost 65 years no one took a closer look at the circumstances on the Germans side, things were painted in black and white by post war propaganda, and all Germans were labelled as Nazi monsters.

I'm very proud to say that my father was in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII and he was also in London during the Blitz. He also remained in our military service for 2 extra years after the war ended to assist the people in Britain to get their lives and cities back into order when he really could have just gone back home to Canada when the war ended. There must be a special place in heaven for you dad, with your kind heart to help out so many people. Dad, I'm very proud to be your son.

Besides Poland was not set up by the allies as with a few of the central European states, they called themselves into being. Before that Polish minorities were persecuted in Germany and Russia and the Habsburg Empire. Mistreatment of 'ethnic Germans' did take place, but was exagerated by Nazis and other far right nationalists. Racism in many European countries was not unsusual, Poland was no worse.

True current events have an impact on how history is studied and what bit are looked at. In a text6 book from the 50's the Russians may well have only be mentioned in passing. But in the 60's (when the USSR and USA were getting on better) the USSR's contribution would have had discussed more.

Bohemia,Moravia and Silesia,German lands and people taken from Germany after WW1 applied and were granted status of protectorate under Berllin,and were also untouched during the war.

Robson667 - The Germans and British military were both funded by David Rockefeller and David De Rothschild of the House of Rothschild who owns the Bank of England(it's private)-but they're not going to tell you this are they. The Germans didn't hate us any more than we hated them...it was all propoganda inspired by the banking elite to enable WWII for as long as possible so that they could make great profit. I'm not justifying Nazi Germany, but British night bombing and US daytime bombing of Germany throughout the rest of the war killed far more civilians than the London Blitz did. Additionally, US incendiary bombing of Japan killed far more civilians than even the atomic bombs did. There's always two sides to the story.

no you're wrong. bombing of civilians was unheard of before world war 2, even in world war 1 is was just unacceptable, coming out of an age where wars were fought on a field between soldiers and calvary. Germany for the frist time set out to kill innocent lives, not just strategic targets, actual civilian people. the bombing of such places like drezden, were merely revenge. yes revenge is not the answer in such a situation, but god damn germany deserved it.

In WW1 Germany bombed British coastal towns and London using zeppelins. They were not military targets but bombed purely for the "panic" value.

Where am I wrong? Yes, Germany was the aggressor and initiated the bombing of cities and civilians, but the fact remains that the Allies adopted the same tactics. The Nazi regime may have deserved such treatment, but how many innocent civilians who had no connection with the Nazis were killed in those bombings. I'd hate to use a cliche, but two wrongs don't make a right.

Us kids searched the area around the village for incendiary bombs and received the princely sum of a half-penny when reported to the local fire station! Tracer bullets in the night sky and the red glow over london on the horizon was watched from the safety of the garden anderson shelter.
