you should use string shot more often..or atleast when the rare candy is to one side move all your pokemon to that side? id use string shot for both sides and use tackle for squirtle

i got a good team in the 4 starting lvls 1 bulbasaur 2 of those pidgy 2 caterpies and a pikachu

its a good team when cata evolves
