  • *Boy freezes to death in the forest*

*This song starts while the camera dramatically zooms out*

  • Though this song sounds quite sad to me, probably the saddest I've heard, it doesn't make me very sad. Maybe a little, you can really feel the emotion coming through. But somehow I find myself to be motivated/inspired when I hear it, as it's such a beautiful song. My god, it's music like this that simply amazes me.

  • @AqueousEfflorescence

Chopin was constantly aware of his mortality due to his illness, I think, and the likelihood that he would die early, yet I feel that he was so deeply aware of the beauty in the world that all he could do was pour his love for this beauty into music, with the sadness of knowing he must soon leave the world he loved so much.

  • HERE! HERE! WILLIAM Hear Hear!!!!!!!!

  • music is for everyone not just the music companies, to own all music and subject it to laws that wont even allow us to listion to it unless we by a CD or music file is crappy and defeats the pouprouse that music origanly was intended for

  • @topitmunkeydog I'm sorry to be pedantic :S I believe Chopin was born in 1810 and died in 1849. I agree with everything else you are saying though.

  • @notlengthy it alternates between sad and happy because funerals are a time for celebration of someones life as well a time for mourning.

  • After i'm gone your earth will be free to live out its miserable span of existence, as one of my satelites, and that's how it's going to be.

  • I don't like how it alternates between sad and happy. I wish it would just stick with one.

  • @notlengthy Different people perceive music differently. Personally for me, the middle section does not sound "happy". It sounds like a feeling of reaching a moment of peace with oneself, of self achievement. But even though it contrasts with the previous section it's still nostalgic and moving, so it's not that far away from the feeling of sadness and despair. Regardless, the beauty of classical music is its emotional complexity. It's what I refer to as "a Pleasant Emotional Crisis"

  • So breath taking.

    A true stroke of genius...

  • yay sony stopped trolling chopin

  • @topitmunkeydog

    And about time too!

  • escuchar esta musica te hace reflexionar

  • Sony is just jealous that they haven't such great artists like chopin under their label ;)

  • Very good (:

  • If this isn't played at my funeral I swear I'm coming back to life and playing it myself.

  • amazing Song :')

  • Correction: He wanted Mozart's Requiem to be played at his funeral. Some rumors state he wanted Beethoven's Funeral March to be played at his funeral. Beethoven died in 1827, and Mozart died before Chopin was even born.

  • You put so much feeling into it I can tell....beautiful!

  • Beautiful rendition of Chopin's 'Funeral March.' You should be very proud.

  • sony own nothing , they are not recognised by people. they are fake. Ask George Michael

  • Probably the most famous dirge in history. Very moving. I love it.

  • Oh bollocks I saw an ad here but I didn't notice you wanted a screenie of it. Sorry! I come back here often so if I see one again I'll let you know!

  • poland ftw

  • My favourite song from Chopin!!! <3

  • it sounds like a gloomier, sadder, Imperial March from Star Wars! (Which was inspired from this.)

  • Nearly perfect rendition of this classic.

No wonder you have gotten so irate at Sony's unjust claim against it.

Chopin was a genius, and you interpreted him very well indeed.

  • das iz kreeepy maan

  • Thanks, and it is absurd that Sony can just insinuate something like this. I mean, how far apart are the surnames Sony and CHOPIN, how much in the public domain is CHOPIN, and furthermore, it would be one thing if a publisher of sheet music tried to suggest something, but a RECORDING that wouldn't even match on the most basic computerized analysis? Argh! Good luck. I take it you have the piece memorized? PS, maybe you'll like some of our music. Slight touches of Chopin influence within,

  • To my dear aunt who marched as slowly to the death as the tempo of this lovely song ...Wish her the best....

  • flood was here

  • this might sound like a stupid question but who is the original or accredited for this masterpiece?

  • @HappyBirthdaySANTA

Chopin wrote the funeral march (it's the third movement of his second piano sonata); I'm the musician as well as the photographer/video editor. I'd not say it's a masterpiece, but it's one of my better recordings. :-)

Sony Music has been claiming it as theirs & I am intending to go to the trouble (and expense) of getting a lawyer to send them a letter, as they have not responded to three (or was it four) e-mails from me.

  • @Kamibambiraptor Oh, please!! No one has right on this piece!! Sony is just shit, then! This is public domain >=)

  • @gothicgrowler

Yes, it is public domain, and my guess is that they are mistaking my recording for a recording of this piece that they DO own. Since no responses were received for any of the four e-mails I sent them, I am intending to get a lawyer to write a letter to them; it will cost a little money, but it will hopefully help ensure a response.

  • @Kamibambiraptor

Trying to claim Chopin as your own? WTF?

  • @Kamibambiraptor

    so what happened?

  • @TheKostaslaf

At the moment it looks as though Sony is no longer claiming this video - it no longer shows up under 'Content ID' matches & it looks as though it is no longer being blocked in Germany. Irritatingly, it is not available for monetization either & YouTube reserves the right to refuse monetization at their discretion.

I intend to try to find out for sure if Sony's claim has vanished, and if it has, then I should be taking out my references to this situation. (I want to be sure!)

  • @Kamibambiraptor It's still all clear on my end of any Sony marks and advertising (Canadian in Edmonton, AB)

  • @kevito666

Good....It seemed as though some places got the ads & others didn't; I never saw any myself, but folks did post some screen shots to the FB page, so I know they were there!

  • he wrote this on his deathbed right?

  • NIce! But it reminds me to much of my former colleagues in the gulf.

  • It is not a song. You SING a song. God......

  • @Kamibambiraptor Beautiful music and scenes, thank you very much. I first heard this music years ago when Channel 4 here in the UK showed a film ( I forget who by) which had this and other music accompanied by multi image videos. I had video recorded it, but unfortunately the recording was faulty so I didn't keep it.

  • @TheCaleyman

I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the photographs. :-)

  • I was reading Something Wicked This Way Comes, and it led me to this song.. man gives you a creepy visual image.

  • This song is quite gangster

  • Hi Kamibambiraptor,

    Wonderful performance! Just beautiful...

    Sony's behavior is OUTRAGEOUS!!

I just invited 32 my personal friends to your Facebook group to show their support.

    Two ex-MP's included.

This got to get more attention!

  • @toweri

    Thank you for the support!

I MIGHT have a 'lead', so to speak.... I heard from someone (on the FB page) that the music of a pianist named Cyprian Katsaris is being offered for download with this video. Presumably this is the pianist whose recording mine is being mistaken for. I plan to contact Mr. Katsaris & see if he will be more responsive, but first I want to ask some local recording biz people for advice.

  • when ever this plays you know someone is going to die 0_0

Thats why i play it when im wearing my clown suit XD

  • how could sony claim the rights to this song, if Chopin died in 1810? Thats about two hundred years ago-- copyright laws expire SEVENTY years after the composer is dead. That's right. We should protest music companies removing youtube videos. What ever happened to free speech? Just because we use a song in a video doesn't mean that we are earning any money off it, or claiming we made it. At most, we are advertising for their song! Down with sony!

  • @topitmunkeydog

My guess is that my recording is being mistaken for someone else's recording & that the recording is still copyright. Despite four (so far) requests to Sony to tell me whose recording they think it is (so that I can point out differences), I have received no answer. In the meantime, whoever is making money off the ads is doing so illegally, I believe, but to prove that would require lawyers and oodles of money. :-(

  • @Kamibambiraptor Wait, did you play this yourself? That means that you should be earning money off of this! What is wrong with the music industry???

  • @topitmunkeydog

Yes, that is me playing, and I would in fact be eligible to go into 'partnership' with YouTube to earn money off this video (and others) were it not for the fact that Sony is claiming the audio.

I can't seemingly compel Sony to respond to my e-mails, lawyers cost money, and the amount of money I am losing (by not being able to go into partnership with YouTube) is probably fairly small (at least in comparision to the lawyers fees!), so I'm left with this irritating situation!

  • @topitmunkeydog He died in 1849 btw

  • @topitmunkeydog Chopin died in 1849.

  • @topitmunkeydog Chopin died in 1849. He wanted Beethoven to play this piece at his funeral, but he actually wound up outliving Beethoven.

  • @topitmunkeydog 1849

  • @topitmunkeydog The funny thing is Sony was was founded a full 136 years after Chopin's death and yet try to claim rights. Ridiculous to say the least.

  • @gtmthegreat 97 years..my bad.

  • @topitmunkeydog hah olol I got top comment that's why you guys keep replying

but seriously we are bein oppressed.

  • @topitmunkeydog SONY can claim they own a recent RECORDING they own. The music is VERY public domain, sure, but if a Big Name pianist records it and SONY puts it out, they own the rights to that RECORDING. If Kamibambiraptor records himself, then that recording is HIS, not SONY's. Same with Shakespeare; EXTREMELY Public Domain, but if Clint Eastwood does "Hamlet" with Ludacris, that's HIS version of "Hamlet" and he owns it - just like Kamibambiraptor owns THIS recording! BOO, Sony!

  • @TheStockwell are you an idiot? INTERPOL clearly states all right belong to the artist and expire seventy years after death, therefor when Sony bought this, they own it and no one can use it without explicit right from the publisher (Sony), and they're being idiotic dysfunctional douchebags and claiming this is they're song, that they might, which is BS

  • @Cotif11 No, I AM NOT AN IDIOT. I have spent the last six years of my life working on a documentary film that required me to learn - in a very painful and arduous fashion - that international copyright laws are more complicated than most YouTube users know. They vary from country to country. A composition I needed, written in 1896, is not in the public domain because the composer died in 1949. 75 year rights. The work will be PD in 2024. Get it?

  • @TheStockwell I am not a common YouTube user, as you state. Sony still does not have the rights to acting so asinine and claiming this song is there's

  • @topitmunkeydog not to mention Sony is shit at producing consoles (PieceOfShit 1, 2, & 3)

  • @topitmunkeydog He was born in 1810. He died in 1849. Either way, Sony couldn't have bought this song before 1919 as they didn't exist until 1946. A whopping 27 years after anything by Chopin would've been in Public Domain.

  • @topitmunkeydog Chopin was born in 1810, and died in 1849.Just for info

  • Funeral or not, this piece is FANTASTIC!! THANX for posting!!

  • Down with the record companies!

  • facebook protests dont work, sue them motherfuckers instead

  • @Schwarze999

Maybe I'll be lucky and an enterprising young lawyer will see this video and offer to represent me pro bono! (I wish!)

  • When Giacomo Puccini died in 1924, word reached rome during a performance of his La Boheme opera. The conductor stopped everything to announce the loss of one of the greatest opera composers ever. Then out of nowhere, the pit orchestra played this funeral march in his honour.

  • @punkypenguin321 Oh, yes! I wish I'd been there.

  • opmg tey steel from justin beaver biutifel music stolen from america

  • @cmpat i have anal print of justin beaver... check ebay account. starting bid 5000$ its done using vaccuum printing.

  • i like this so much...extremely inspiring:X

  • there are google ads at the bottom the entire time the video is playing...

  • Fuck black/death metal this is the scariest music I've ever heard and yet I'm intrigued by it, nice one Chop I N

  • they think this is theirs because you are a PIANO GOD!!!!!

seriously they should hire you or something :P

  • @aghshjjkkk

That would be nice, but maybe I'll be able to find a good lawyer & sue them for millions of dollars in a class-action suit! :-D

  • This was my wedding music

  • @csykes23 How is it to be a widower now?

  • At first, this piece entertained me because I had heard the "cliche" melody of the march On TV... But at the end, I was deeply moved and inspired, thank you Chopin...

  • thats shit. fuck you sony. assholes.

  • They are posting Air Jordan Spizike ads next to this video you recorded.

  • @Beev60

    :-(

At least it's not as bad as when the other day I watched part of a video of "How Great Thou Art" and there was some ad about toilet training made fun just below the video. How classy!

  • @Kamibambiraptor ha that is so funny! XD But I wish they didn't have adds! How Great Thou Art is so beautiful

  • @Kitcatdswimr

I don't like the ads either, and even though they are easy to hide, I still find they somewhat spoil my enjoyment of the video (before I make them go away). Sometimes it's because they are inappropriate to the music, sometimes they are just visually distracting.

  • @Kitcatdswimr Have to have Capitalism some how =P I agree, though, it sux (not capitalism, but the ads).

  • Beautiful song. We may return to dust, but this song lives on.

  • So haunting... so powerful... Yet so peaceful... Chopin a true genius

  • Sympathies for your struggle with sony.

  • Muchas gracias, necesitaba con audio alto ;)

  • @joset0xp

¿Por qué? ¿Vas a estar utilizando en algún lugar? :-O

  • @Kamibambiraptor

Para un montaje de teatro :D

  • @joset0xp

  • beutiful peace but creepy and sad at the same time. suprisingly somewhat soothing and relaxing.

  • It is so sad!

  • mal interpretada ._.

  • @G0NZAL0666

Ah? ¿De qué manera? ¿Cómo lo interpretan de manera diferente?

  • @G0NZAL0666 the tempo is too slow - too piano not enough forte

  • Ah... I wish the funerals I had attended played this song instead of one with vocals. :/ It made it much to easy to remember how sad I was.

  • Very nice music from Chopin. A bit sad, but perfect!

  • This song might be tremendously beautiful if played in the morning just as the sun rises.

  • Wow I feel like walking around my city wearing a black cloak and carrying a scary looking sword. Greenville cops would be all over that. I'd be like "against the power that has risen in the east there will be no victory for the race of men. Now go and die in what way seems best for you copper."

  • this never gets played at funerals

  • very touching.................v v

  • 10 mesi fa questa marcia funebre ha accompagnato il funerale di mio marito.

Ho sempre amato questo pezzo al di là del significato.Pur nel dolore immenso che provavo e che ancora provo, questa musica ha addolcito sempre la mia anima.

    Sibillaaleramo1900.

  • this is good, but when i die i want "Saints go marching in" to be played on my funeral :p

  • @iownage4youi

That's a good choice. 'Funeral Marches' such as this were more something to be played while the pallbearer's were carrying the casket. These are quite heavy, and not something you want to be bustling around with anyway, so funeral marches tend to be slow.

  • When I first heard this song, I didn't know it was the funeral song. I thought it was extremely lively and beautiful. Then I heard it was about a funeral and my mind changed in an instant.

  • @Mondafied

Oh, did I say it was the Funeral March? I really meant to say it's called "Fluffy and Bun-Bun's Big Adventure!" :-D

  • I've seen an ad everytime I've viewed this video. If this is truly your recording you should consider a lawsuit to take care of this and for compensation, because they are making money off of your work....

  • @trashedscatter

Yes, indeed they're making money off my work, and I've sent now several e-mails to them. No reply.

Worse, since my channel contains a video whose content is claimed by a copyright holder, I'm not eligible for YouTube partnership. (I could take it down, but why should I have to?) So Sony is also depriving me of a potential source of income. Bad. I am looking into what legal options are available... sadly, I don't have lots of money for lawyers! :-(

  • @Kamibambiraptor Despite all that, good job on this piece. It's one of my fav recordings of it.

  • This song is so dark, yet so beautiful at the same time.

  • This makes me think of how Brazil played today

    Go Holland!

  • wonderful!!!!!!!

  • saddest music ever. ;( this so beautiful ...

  • Good, really good, I like it =)

  • to good for comfort

  • I like your feel and timing. Nice work. Sony are dicks.

  • OUTSTANDING HANDPHONE RINGTONE! >:D

  • sure wish I knew hoe to play piano so I could play this. Good job!

  • ...and it is from Poland =)

  • @csx06

  • Spine-Chilling.

  • Great Playing :-)

Ironically, the ad showing is "Airwick fights Bad Odours"

  • @MarkBrennan

Argghhh! Besides the whole "this is my recording" issue, this just ain't the sort of piece I think should have ads with it! I'm probably not eligible for "Partnership" with YouTube, but I must say that I find the ads that appear with the videos of folks who ARE in partnership with YouTube to be irritating & trivializing to the music. From what I understand, the pay isn't all that great, so I've got no plans currently to apply. Why would I want ads with ALL my videos??

  • Who is Sony claiming as the pianist?

  • That's the thing.... In all three of my e-mails to them I say that if they will tell me whose performance they think it is, I am sure I can show them to be mistaken, but I have gotten no response at all so far! It's irritating: they care enough to claim it, care enough to block it in Germany, but don't respond to my e-mails. Meanwhile, I have heard from some people that ads appear with this video (I've not seen any myself). Bad Sony! Again!

  • @lewars1912 under the description it says Cyprien Katsaris...

  • thank you for this interpretation, it's truly moving on such a say day as this

  • You are welcome! I am glad to have been able to bring you some comfort on this day.

  • Badass Man, Excellent, Thinking Of Doing A Cover Of This For My Band, On Guitar, Keep Up The Good Work.

  • enter to my channel n listen the electronic version of this beautiful piece of art !!

  • Sony, laughing my ass off at your stupidity and greed

  • You should take Sony's claim as a huge compliment, lol ^^

Nice owning them and nice played :)

  • Thank you!

It is kind of a compliment (almost makes me wish it happened more often ;-) ).

  • I ,loved it!

Until I read some of the comments I thought it was a download of a famous pianist.

Thanks for posting this lovely video.

  • :-)

  • It's a beautiful rendition. 5/5

  • hey check out the beginnings of my bands metal version of this tune.........

  • FUCK SONY! claiming everything is theirs... :| by the way, i like this

  • Sony is naughty! I think maybe I'll start a Facebook page called "Get your hands off our music!", or something like that, as I'm not the only one this has happened to!

(Glad you like the music. :-) )

  • to me i dont hear any mistakes i am on your side with the disput! Awesome playing makes me wanna cry I love it that you for the vid and great sound quality I hope you win!!!

  • Thank you for the kind words and the support. :-)

  • haha it's normal that Sony claims it, this is just too great xD

  • To Howard Zinn RIP

  • There are ads, since you asked.

Awesome playing. You'd think Sony would realize this is yours, since I can occasionally (I think) hear the piano vibrating the mic.

  • Thank you! :-)

This is the thing...in addition to what you mention about the piano vibrating the microphone, there are a few dropped notes and small errors in the piece, & I asked Sony to tell me WHOSE recording they thought this was & I'd gladly point out the differences. No response to either e-mail so far. In the meantime, someone's (illegally?) freeloading ads on my recording of a public domain piece! So I really ought to get around to sending a third e-mail, and/or posting a video.

  • hey dude you play the piano very well... thats why i guess sony claimed that the recording was theirs lol! btw there are no ads

  • I've not seen ads myself; I think whether or not there are ads seems to be affected by what part of the world you're in.

(*Glad you liked the music. :-) )

  • There are two large ads by google one on the video and one in the side bar also thank you for the beautiful music youve reminded me why I enjoy Chopin so much and for that thank you.

  • You're welcome for the music! :-)

This thing with the ads is annoying, I have to say.... I intend to re-record this, but I think I am also going to make a video called "Hey! Sony! Get your fingers off my music!" or something like that.

  • @Kamibambiraptor Do it i think that might stick it to them :D

  • похоронный марш бррр

  • Wait- this is YOU? Holy Snood! You, sir, deserve one internets.

  • Yes, it's me; when I made this video I didn't realize I could mute the poor sound from my camera & splice the audio & video tracks together. And now Sony thinks's it's theirs! :-( I'm intending to repost this with me visible at the piano, but I'll probably wait till after Christmas.

  • I'm at my computer listening to this and "playing" this around my keyboard, my arthritic fingers reproducing what little I remember from my piano lessons with nuns with yardsticks (50 years ago). Thanks for the memory!

  • Nuns with yardsticks? Yikes! Not sure that's the sort of memory I'd want coming back, but you are welcome nonetheless!

  • No yikes necessary. My Catholic school days are some of the best memories of my life. Even the nun from hell who scared me shitless when she gave me piano lessons has a deep place in my heart. She taught me to love the piano. And she was only disappointed in my playing, never in my love for the instrument. I trust I make myself perfectly obscure.

  • Yes, completely obscure! ;-) :-)

  • I dedicate this "Marche Funebre" by

Frederic Chopin to our lost dear friend..

    "Nanaimo Eric."

    WE MISS YOU, man !!!!

  • You should really stop being
