I actually got to ride on a detoured California Zephyr train through southern Wyoming. I road on the detoured eastbound California Zephyr through southern Wyoming in the summer of the year 2004, quite an experience.
Does anyone know if the host road unit was necessary because of the detour or because of power problems. The Cascades unit must be going to to the Chicago power shop for work.
