mine came with one Novak, built in italy 8 round mag. I would get a few mags extra if I were you. 230 gain loads run beautifully through it. No misfires or issues with 185-230 JHP/FMJ rounds from various manufacturers.
novak sponsors good mags. I said sponsored because his company does not make them. i think they are made by LPA, the same people that make the sights. i have one coming and when i was on the phone with them they said i had the last one being made until after christmas. so maybe mine will have extra attention. i got it for $530. I am buying several chip mcormick mags. pick some up. they are on about a 50% sale at midwayusa right now. i will have at least 4. it will be my duty weapon
I heard that STI is one of the top of the line brand of pistols. So you guys can asure that STI Spartan got same reliability as to their other handguns?
man just a question: How good STI Spartan is? When you guys said it's from Georgetown, Texas and ARMSCOR Philippines. So what's really behind on it when two companies are making it?
i guess sti want's to make the same parts on lower prices so they had armscor do them. really nice gun, a good cheap first 1911 for anyone who likes shooting an 1911
STI Spartan is made of Armscor frame, barrel and slide with STI main spring housing, hammer assembly, trigger and sear. So the STI parts are from Georgetown.
These pistols have a very nice custom feel to it for the price (approx. $600...?). I'm in the middle of constructing a custom Springfield 1911 and have already dropped about $400 extra into it and the feel of this pistol is very similar. All I would really do to STI's Spartan is replace the mainspring housing and purchase a couple of Wilson Combat mags and you're ready to rock. Nice vid btw.
the spartan uses armscor investment cast frame and a barstock forged slide and barrel, both are cnc machined to sti tolerances. for those worried about armscor hardness of 38 to 42 which it magnificent and on par with other quality makers. the spartan contains all sti internals, which are superb. once assembled the guns are shipped to sti and are qc inspected to ensure they meet sti's rigid standards. so to call it an armscor is misleading
no problem. i had a typo though. i meant for people worried about soft metal from armscor, the metal sti has them use is 38-42 rockwell hardness. this is perfect metallurgy for for guns. extremely hard without being too brittle with repetitive use and increased operating temp over long shooting sessions, shooting dry, or in other adverse conditions. i did do my research because i know what makes a good gun. plus, i am a college student so i am broke. this is the best deal on the market
how many mags did yours come with? cmc mags are on sale at midwayusa and i wanted to know how many i should buy.

the frame and slide are made separately. still an STI and no problems and very few failures to feed.

thanks...It has a very nice feel and is fairly accurate right out of the box. I changed the grips to Hogue grips, seems to work very well.
The Mags are Novak and they seem to be okay too.
I'll get some wilsons and see how they are, thanks.
