  • Is it like the original audition to get into the college?

  • dude you play the drums fucking awesome! keep learning... it never ends...

  • ive seen this guy play in a cube at berklee, fucking amazing drummer

  • Awesome work man, keep it up, there's never too much that a drummer can learn. Especially an aspiring one.

  • lol, I like the tags - Modern Virtuoso Young Undiscovered Unsigned Complete

  • That set up looks uncomfortable man: hope you have it so you are more comfy now xD

  • @ChuckieGreenwood I was thinking the same thang

  • Hey guys, I'm the drummer in the video. Just so you know, this was done a bit less than 3 years ago...when i was a sophmore in high school...this wasn't for the college, this was for the summer program. I PROMISE you Ive been practicing my double strokes! lol I'm at Berklee now as a 2nd semester student, but i was in high school. And i'm still learning!

  • @rastadrumma No matter how good you get..there is always to learn my brother..Keep up the good work..

  • @rastadrumma that was freakin' awesome for a sophomore!! Were you taking lessons at the time?

  • your doubles arent that good

  • nice chops.. your double stroke needs serious revision but fuck it you're sick.. keep playing

  • great snare sound there. LM402 is it?

  • how old is he? hes sick

  • Berklee must have low standards. Work on technique man.

  • @readme60 satire? or are you actually that retarded?

  • Comment removed

  • @LIGHTRONIX No im not being sarcastic. What do you think is good technique then?

  • @readme60 well, I listened to you little piano and drums jam, and I don't know how you can even fucking talk about this guy's technique.

  • @LIGHTRONIX so what do you have to prove for my technique? it was recorded with a microphone, not a video camera so there was no way you could see us play, and criticize our technique.

  • @readme60 No, there is no way you could have good technique with that kind of playing. Even is your technique was amazing, you still are an awful drummer and should not go around talking like you'er better than anyone at Berklee. As someone who goes to the school, i'm just going to let you know you could never get in.

  • @LIGHTRONIX Ok.

  • @LIGHTRONIX What do you have to prove for your technique? I don't see any videos on your channel of playing. You are nothing but an ignoramus. I said Berklee has low standards to get in, BECAUSE, majority of people who audition get in. YET if you do some research on the college that you are going to you will know it has a fairly low graduation rate. And my comment was meant to be constructive, but your too much of a wuss to take it that way.

  • @readme60 Actually they don't have low standards, they have a very rigorous audition and the acceptance rate at Berklee is 30-35 percent. The graduation rate is low because there is so much talent here that people get jobs or land record labels before graduation and don't need to go to school anymore. I am not being ignorant of anything, this guy is an amazing player and has great technique, I don't know why you think his technique is bad.

  • @LIGHTRONIX I never said his technique was bad, I just meant he should work on his rudiment technique, sorry for not making that clear. Actually what I got was Berklee's acceptance rate is 78.3%. Please show where you got your evidence, I'll show mine if you want.

  • @readme60 this is just getting retarded. you appear to have more arguing stamina in you so have a great day :D

  • @LIGHTRONIX Yeah, I was just about to bail also. Arguing on YouTube is pointless no one ever gets anywhere. Nice having this talk with you. xD

  • I love how he's wearing the guitar symbol for rockband when he's auditioning for drums. Classic.

  • Stick Height man lol

  • Lovin' the odd glasses push up...

  • @rob101abc hahaha he wants to get contacts but i keep telling no the litle glasses thingy is working for him hahahaha

  • Really nice job, i was wondering, what scholarship did you have? The summer jazz workshop one or what?

  • keep the pinky fingers in

  • @wphs1111 ... i am so tired of " keep your pinky in " .... who cares .... i`ll tell you who cares ..other drummers ... and frankly i dont care what other drummers think ...i care what singers , guitarists , and bass players think ... trust me , they dont care what your hands look like ...only how you sound

  • @sweetfly66 but if you keep your fingers in when playing doubles your hands become stronger, therefore sounding better, ya jackaaaasss :)

  • @LearningDrummerSam ... is that what your nazi like teacher / section leader told you ..... he is probably right but i still dont really care how someone`s hands look ...only how they sound ..and there are enough good sounding drummers around who probably do have pinky issues that it puts a giant hole in the idea that you cant sound good if you have pinky issues

  • @sweetfly66 youre not getting this..... yes, im sure pinkies can still sound good, but improving technique by tucking them in should come naturally anyway, because your hands are always trying to get stronger and better when the same thing is repeated many times...... stronger hands = better dynamics, therefore improving the sound! and no im not a nazi, and i dont care how hands look either..... i dont know where you got that from because i didnt once mention how they look :)

  • Dude ur amazing keep it up

  • wow very nice your rudiment level is very high and the solo was amazing a lil bit of everything in the right quantity/

  • rockband can work miracles...

  • Yo double stroke sound like yo single lmao

  • @DzagielAreq very true...i hate the way i did this video

  • 2;53 u stole from geraLD HEYWARD!!!! lol impressiveee

  • you must have no hearing at all!! :O:O

  • that double stroke roll turned into a buzz roll

  • good but hold your stick more for more controll

  • sooooooo yea... u gotta full ride right??? lol

  • Great stuff, but Why are you sitting so low, your leg feels way heavier than it is when u sit like that.

  • i better start practising...

  • man, I'm going to try and audition as well sometime with in the next couple years. did you manage to get any scholarships?

I'm curious to know, because if not, then shit will I have to work my ass off to top that and get a scholarship of some sort.

  • WTF ZACH. WHEN DID YOU DO THIS?

  • dis is one of the best drummers i've seen on youtube!!!!

  • Dude you are amazing. Did you get in?

  • Make sure and time yourself playing rudiments. You want to go into them and come out evenly.

  • pinkys in man!!!

  • awsome

  • zach is gay

  • your snare sounds sweet. Whats your head selection?

  • Zach, this is Kinshiro... I love you... no homo

  • Good playing, but the double stroke was played more like buzz stroke in the higher tempo, make sure to keep it clean.

  • Yeah the double stroke roll was the biggest problem, I can't believe you did so well on the bass drum when you were sitting so low.

  • Nice solo - you've got groove!

  • impressive ,but you need to work on your double stroke roll

  • yeah i know man

  • So?? Did you get in??

  • Is this at Berklee? Nice video btw very nice :-D

  • zach's beast, but we already knew that

i cant believe i didnt see this video earlier.

  • nice rudiments. liked the grooves

  • i like ur snare

  • did u get in?

  • Not the best rolls, pretty sloppy when they're closed, but a pretty great drummer all around. you're still young so you have alot of time to sort your bad habits out. Well done man, hope you got in!

  • wow.

    thats really impressive.

  • From the looks of it, I can tell u been playin 4 years

  • fuck yeah! that was awesome!

  • you are amazing dude.

  • You're one of the few young drummers who really has got groove! Very good, five stars!

  • that was sick dude

  • there is no way you didn't get in haha

  • @zenbassie03 oh hes in alright hahahaha

  • fuck. right when i thought i was sounding good

  • ok!!!!

  • nice groove dude! did you got in??

  • Nice groveage dude.

  • that it is :)

  • hey man,

every year, Guitar Center hosts a drum off where you can win about $30,000 worth of prizes, including a roland TD-20, sponsorships, and a crap-ton of other stuff. I'd definitely suggest signing up for it next year at your friendly neighborhood guitar center. it starts sometime in october or so. i work for guitar center and you seem like you have the skills to win. youtube "jerome flood II" to see this past year's winner

  • hey bro. i actually entered the contest this year. i acutally lost in the district finals. i guess i buckled under the pressure. i got to serious. plus the guy who won districts was over and was the last contestant to play. i was 2nd(what are the odds) so they most likely thought i would have more chances since i'm 16. but yeah ill def do it next year. its a must. and i won't be so uptight. thanks for checkin out the vids

  • Great job and nice groove. I hope to try out for berklee someday

  • Hey nice drumming kid. You hav a lot of skills. The thing that makes you stand out a little is that you kind of have your own style. You see like Tony Royster Jr. is talented, he really is taking stuff from other drummers in a way. It's kind of like common. You have your own style a little. Practice your rudiments because you really need to work on those a lot. Nice solo. You did well, but i don;t think well enough to get in. Well good job. Maybe i'll see you some day

    Peace

    The Drum Commentator

  • thanks and i will

  • I really enjoyed your videos. Good job all around. Everything was intelligent and tasteful.

  • thanks very much :)

  • yo man that's a nice groove you have.

  • Practice building up all your rolls at a slower pace, from slow to fast, to smooth out the transitions. As you play from a slow speed to a fast speed your grip will change and you need to be able to make these adjustments naturally without them affecting the quality of the sound.

  • thanks for the advice

  • I can really tell you have a lot of talent just by the time you keep and the ideas you have. Don't worry about those rudiments holding you back. The talent expressed by your playing will wow the evaluators more than anything. You have the chops, but it looks like you skimp out on practicing your rudiments slow.

  • you took that last part form tony royster. jr

  • yo. i'm zach mullings, the guy, who is playing there. here are my comments on the video now that i'm looking back. i Hate my rudiments. its awful. who would get in to berklee with those strokes? the solo wasn't too bad, i had done 3 previous rehearsels b4 so i was kinda tired. but yeah i despise my technique on the rudiments. but yeah coulda done alot better now a days thanks to those of u with constructive comments, the not-so-constructive comments, and the praises on these videos. much love.

  • How old are you?

  • terrible double stroke roll...

  • great!!!

  • awsome!

  • awesome!! i love it =DD

  • Great groove, definitely need to show off more chops though.

  • solid playing but the rudiments can definitely be under more control

  • PINKY IN!

  • crap i know. lol it happens. i've started dumming it down a bit. its a habit tho

  • i agree with fruitydickhole, littlepenis doesn't know what the hell he's talking about...he's probably posting this from his mom's basement between store 24 shifts.

    nice video, very enjoyable!

  • very strong groove... but the chops definitely arent berklee level...

  • I think they are berklee level and I go to berklee.

  • awsome!

  • lol. i fuck with him everyday in school. ur still white zach. lol but ur an awsome drum captain hope u win the guitar center finals.

  • idk whats up with the shirt lol, and the toms

  • he needs to practice controling the sticks

  • low rider....

the rudiment was whack but the groove was great.

  • Wow incredible job! you better have gotten the scholarship

  • Man, you got some groove!

  • That was a scratch roll, not doubles.

  • whats a scratch roll

  • To quote stick control:

"The closed roll is not to be confused with the 'scratch roll,' produced by digging the sticks down into the drumhead with muscles tense, at a ridiculously high rate of speed, for which neither the author, nor indeed any musician, has any use."

  • ahh cool

  • ok thats straight.

  • i'll defenetly agree about the horizontal stroke. but do you have a video? i wanna check it out and see if your "controlled" with single strokes. and listners lose intrest? then i guess the other 35+ comments don't mean a thing huh? take a look.

  • Apology humbly accepted...But, the point of him sending an audition tape is to get into school. Beit that school is for learning, the techniques you speak of will all be revised and greatly improved correct?

  • Yo CRITIC, does it matter to him how you would necessarily play? For this matter where is your audition tape? Rude my friend!

  • VERY nice work. You lift spirits. Thanks.

  • Holy shit. That was damn good. Nice shirt, by the way

  • you are really amazing

  • Wuhan chinas?

  • u know any better sounding cheap chinas?

  • no sir. I have a few myself.

  • nice! lol

  • ummm... yeah he's in

  • you'll go places man......amazing talent...

  • fantastic work.. amazing drummer!

  • You get in?

    And your snare sounds killer

  • Man your awsome, i bet those judges like signed your papers for you to be admitted like 2 minutes into the solo. Great job,i hope my drum solo will kick as much ass but you set a bar no doubt.

  • My god dude...

  • you got in right? that's cool Now was for the actually school or a festival.

I'm going to berklee in 2 weeks. Got some drum vids if u wanna check em out.

  • festival. good luck at berklee and thanks!
