  • A slight delay...

  • Even if you ignore the raid controller, that was pretty slow. My vertex 2 boots up before the 4 coloured dots on the windows logo even meet up, and that's with a heap of shit installed, I imagine that's a fresh windows install you're using there.

  • Also, my Vista Lite boots faster than that on a Sata generation 1 Raptor from 2003 (10000 RPM)

  • Windows has some of the slowest shutdowns I have ever seen! Linux and Mac OS shut down almost instantly.

  • Its good but like others have said its the raid controller that lets you down.

  • haha, thats GREAT, but whats the motherboard trying to do at the beginning?

  • Wow that sucks, it's your Mobo and it firmware which is stupid slow. I can see the actual windows software bootup was stupid fast. Because the Mobo 56sec is slower than my mums old IBM (not lenovo) P4 3Ghz.

  • Not impressed )) - raid initialisation ruined everything :P

  • No one really cares about shutdown, your only waiting whilst it turns on...

  • awesome...my notebook wakes up from sleep mode in 2-3 sec

  • I hate to say it but my Mac Pro with only two OCZ 60GB SSDs in a software RAID boot's Mac OS X Lion with Safari and Twitter in the same time it takes your Windows 7 to boot (counting from when you say "Now the controller's done, let's just see exactly how quickly Windows 7 boots". And shutdown is about the same, but no one really cares about shutdown speed.

  • I dont have an SSD and it boots up in 30 seconds..

  • My G74SX Laptop boots at 30 sec.. 750 gb...not vortex or anything... You sir.. WASTED CASH

  • I have the same boot up and shut down times if not better with a single intel x25-v.

  • you using onboard RAID?? is too slow......

  • damn like 10 secs, and 3 to shut down....i now realised my computer is shit

  • Your shutdown time is much faster than mine. But my startup time is almost the same.

  • slight delay lol

  • that's still slower than my machine boots up my ubuntu with a wd green disk...Gratz on you!

  • the boot time is slow.

  • get a new raid controller o.o

  • replace your board, dude!

  • 56sec is very,very slow for a SSD.My ASUS N73JQ boots up in just 35 sec.without a SSD

  • @helthuismartin The controller was working, not the SSD's fault.

  • wow all i have is windrows vista (i hate it) and a 7,500 rpm HDD drive and w/ a 320 external hard drive it takes literally 10 min to start up.

  • I use 2 corsair f 60 sata II in raid 0 with intel ich8 raidmatrix controller and the win 7 logo has no chance to complete

  • My laptop with self installed ssd (intel 320 series 80GB) only takes 20 seconds with bios time included, so Raid 0 is not better for starting up time.

However overall raid 0 kicks ass! there's nothing faster when gaming.

  • stop trolling -_- the guy doesn't know his hardware well. don't need to get all petty about it. you know in your hearts that hdds are inferior in all aspects, don't try to make yourselves feel better by maligning others.

all ssds have an average boot of 20s. in his case, his motherboard's onboard raid controller was either degraded or simply mediocre.

how do i know? my computer takes 18s to boot from post to windows.

  • 55 seconds!!!

omfg, my 4 year old 320GB Hitachi 7200rpm boot's faster and probably costs 20 times less

  • dude taths a fail mine 80 ocz boots in 20 secs win but time are changed

  • /watch?v=pBw1W3kqhYM this channel is on how to do anything on WIN 7

  • Wow the time it takes to boot up ain't worth it...

  • omg all that for 1000 bucks.

    LOL you got taken m8

  • Comment removed

  • This is just SHIT! this will mess up your computer i mean i was searchinng in youtube for > Best computer ever HP < but then i seen your video so i was about to see it.. then when i seen that crappy booting i was likE WTf? i know its good for you coz you like it.. lol ::D i dont know why i commented :D just bored..

  • crappy board.

  • LOOK AT 26 SEC. THE VIDEO IS SPED UP. LOOK AT THE REFLECTION IN THE MONITOR.....LOL.... FAKE FAKE FAKE.

  • @DJMikeyMike007 your a fucking idiot...

  • @DJMikeyMike007 look at the timer idiot, it's also sped up. way to go sherlock

  • wow thats shit my start up time is 34 seconds with 1 1t wd hdd amd penom II x4 920 @ 2.8 GHz and 4 giugs of ddr 2 800 Hz ram

  • lol, having it in raid, and waiting forever for the raid config to load is hardly worth it, my single vertex 2 boots up in 20 secs and shuts down in 7 seconds. if you raided those SSDs just for better boot speeds then you just wasted a lot of cash.

  • a little to extreme... i mean i enjoy having a hefty gpu that can max games out at 1080p and i would enjoy a nice i5 or i7 or similar and thats money well spent. but to spend like $1000 on hard drives for a few secs or min faster loading is a little ridiculous to me...

  • 5 second shut down nice

  • Without all that command prompt crap in the beginning that was "holy mother fucker" fast!

  • I wish my girl friend could shut up so fast. But hell - she get's turned on way faster! BAAAAAAAAANG!

  • My 5400RPM / Dual core Laptop Boots faster than that...

  • @elp2500HD21 slow bios

    super fast windows

its not the ssd its the bios

  • @FreeForAllGamerz If the bios is that slow, is it really worth having the SSD is a raid in the first place?

  • Comment removed

  • BANG LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !!!

  • my two Velociraptors boot faster than this.....???

  • Your controller sucks :s but after it get's ready the boot time is really fast

  • My ssd (Vertex 2 60gbs) shuts down in the same, and boots in 30-35 seconds (youre raid controller is fucking slow).

  • SLOW 50sec you can do on raid0 normal hdd

  • @kilerupl you think 20 second differences isnt much? gtfo troll : )

  • WTF, I've got 2 WD6400AAKS in raid 0 filled 50% and my windows 7 boots up fully functional with norton in 1:20, what a WASTE on those ssds

  • @dkreventon It's not all about boot time though, the ssd's will be considerably faster at almost everything else! And take into consideration the less heat, noise etc. However, I don't believe they are worth the amount they cost.

  • dude put with a better raid controller lol

  • My integrated RAID controller initializes in about 2 seconds, the actual win 7 loading is what is slow..

  • one of the most riskiest raid "0" to try for that boot speed which is slower than my old athlon 64 3800 with ide hd and no raid config

  • mine boots quicker with one 40 gig ssd for 80 bucks on 2.5 ghz core 2 quad

  • Bang and the dirt is gone.

  • You shouldn't put RAID on SSD's. No TRIM support means its most likely going to be slower.

  • @SOF006 intel has some beta drivers for intel motherboards that seem to fix that. fixed mine.

  • In my Win 7 64x on single Samsung F3 opens in 1:03 min ... Your RAID Controller suck!

  • @koluhblog Learn to speed english you retard.

  • @SeanBondWBB dude its speak, not speed.

  • my boot in 21.47 sec. with WinXP

  • ive got one 60GB SSD... i boot up in 7 seconds from that loading screen.

    shutdown in 1 sec

  • my computer boot in 17 sec with ubuntu 10.10

  • @1995cuba ubuntu is for poooooooor people

  • @DayLight95

You are stupid. Ubuntu is a great system as second system maybe as server. Most servers are linux.

  • @MrAirplane linux is more reliable than windows, but no where near as flexible. i will always choose windows for my personal computer though.

  • shit hot

  • boot / shutdown good raid controller bad... lol

  • anyone notice how he sped the video up in the beginning?

  • There's always some mactards around proclaiming how superior their platform is. Their behaviour is so similar to those Scientologists, Jehovah Witness, Mormon elders, etc. you see on the street trying to convert people into their belief. They're like a buncha cultists!!

Back to topic, shutdown time is awesome but boot up time is bad. It's supposed to be from the time you press the ON button, not from the time the controller initialised.

  • I am using one(!) relatively cheap X-25M(!) and have almost the same performance on my AMD Quadcore PC. When you add the time for BIOS/RAID to become ready, my PC boots faster than your's... LOL! And my Kubuntu Linux on that machine is even a bit faster.

BTW: My own video here on YT was recorded from a dualcore notebook.

  • @p1703 dude, could you try to not be so obvious about bragging. jeeze i mean dude its hard to be my system specs but i dont go puttin other peoples equipment down. a little humility goes a long way, trust me.

  • @Leignheart I don't compete having better hardware than others. I only wanted to state that 4 SLC SSDs in a RAID 0 array cannot use it's capability, because controller speed and OS tasks during boot prevent the SSDs from reaching it's limits. It's like driving a car with 5000hp and you cannot get the power onto the track. It wasn't my intend to flame somebody.

  • @p1703 sorry i meant to beat my system specs not be, im a little drunk, so my proof reading sucks ass.

  • The controller only gets in the day during boot time. Otherwise, two SSDs in Raid 0 will pay off after the boot, while you're executing programs, transferring files, or even browsing.

  • Comment removed

  • @zzangzzang1 What????? LMAO! The controller is what controls the hard drives! Only a douche wouldn't know that.... Douche!

  • @zzangzzang1 You're obviously the douche, seeing as how you posted a retarded comment without having an knowledge of what a RAID controller is (Obviously)

  • although 1.03 mins is a long time it started loading windows 7 from 49 seconds so that 14 seconds to load windows 7, its only the raid setup that takes the time to load which kinda defeats the object lol but great vid nice.

  • Its the clean windows without any programs.

and also that RAID loading time makes it as logn as the normal boot.

and somehow my small netbook boots faster with many applications and ... installed on.

  • lool, just like my lame PC, this fancy and expensive stuff isn't much better than a normal hardware.

  • its booting up slower than symbian on my old e71

  • BANG! 1000$ gone.

  • @stojko88 more.

  • @stojko88 axaxaxa omg man... i laughed my ass to tears when i read your comment :P

  • Comment removed

  • @stojko88 Yeah and the iPhone :D

  • @stojko88 the symbol for dollar goes before the number.

  • Hahaha.. my old Dell i9300 laptop running XP on a 1.8 Pentium M and a single IDE drive boots way faster, about double as fast as the gear you're showing here dude... ;-)

  • the boot time on this pc is much longer then on my 2006 macbook pro

  • fuck meen thet was slow

  • why do you need four SSD in raid 0 in regular Desktop machine?? I dont belive when some telling "for video editing" or "games" this is to much expensive for that kind of useing. Much better build raid0 with regular hdd 7200 or velociraptor 10000rpm for the price, you get more space and almost the same speed (ok not the same speed, but really you dont need 800MB/sec even in video editing)

  • this is an stupidity!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow man my callisto's on raid 0 just 2 of them does it in like 12 secs.. such a difference for old ssd's vs new

  • Too bad you are going to have to reinstall windows every few months because TRIM is NOT supported in RAID setups - still, that's great performance albeit it will be short lived...hahahahahaha

  • You do realize that 48 seconds of the 1:03 it took had NOTHING to do with windows at all right? So, it takes WIndows 15 seconds to boot on those specs. Coolio.

  • @BumpFrankie20 -- WOW, it takes a whopping 20 seconds for my single SSD to boot into Windows 7. Hmmm, no RAID and I have the benefit of TRIM support (TRIM is not supported in SSD RAID setups). NUFF SAID - this setup sucks and the guy needs a new motherboard.

  • You guys don't seem to understand, the RAID controller takes like 40-50secs to initialize. At 54Secs is when the OS actually starts booting! and it took 10.2 Seconds which IS fast, and when your doing things like moving files, editing large files and installing programs and starting your apps and switching around from program to program, That's where you see the huge difference, I couldn't give a shit about 50secs on initializing the RAID controller if my PC is gonna be that damn FAST!

  • lol the posting takes ages

  • hey, it boots almost as fast as my macbook with a stock HDD!!

  • @tipman2000

    Eat a dick

    you fucking troll

  • @djlobb sorry to sound like a troll. im being honest. your computer probably boots faster than this amazing RAID machine too.

  • @tipman2000

BTW, Seeing as your a stupid faggot with no knowledge of computers ( you do own a MacBook after all)

I'll explain what's happening here for you.

: The Raid Controller (The thing that interfaces the 4 SSD drives and makes them act as one) takes a while to load up and load the raid setup. The actual startup starts when the PC gets out of the post screen @ 54Secs.

The ACTUAL startup of Win7 to fully loaded and usable is only 10SECS try that you fool!

  • @djlobb i am not a stupid faggot. i am actually very educated about computers, and i already kew about the raid controller. i dont get why someone would put a video with a description about the great boot time, when in fact it takes much longer than another modern computer. you cant simply count out the raid controller and say that doesn't count. the fastest boot would be with a single SSD, without additional SSDs in RAID in this situation. just because i own a mac doesnt mean i'm stupid.

  • @tipman2000 Sorry if I offended you, but most the time Mac users I talk to know shit all about computers. I know, It's a stereotype, but 90% of the time it's true! Regarding your comment to FloridaSurfer: I work on the hardware on both PC and Macs and trust me, the hardware in Macs shits itself aswell, Ram especially, even software crashes. BTW Why do banks and stores use Windows based IBM and Panasonic cash registers & ATM's etc? Windows is as stable as you keep it. BSOD is a diagnostic screen

  • @djlobb there may be a few people out there that use macs and dont know squat about computers, but you gotta remember that not every computer user is an expert and there are many MANY more PC users that probably dont know what MHz or GB mean. The fact that macs are incredibly easy to use means that the product will attract people that are computer illiterate, but that doesn't mean all of us are computer illiterate. now i didn't say macs aren't flawless, nothing is. (read next comment...)

  • @djlobb i have worked on mac hardware and it is a pain, of course anything will be. some of it is great and some isn't on the inside. Why do banks and stores use windows based machines? 2 reasons: 1: compatibility; because by going mac they will have to replace their entire system, and there is already a huge amount of atms and such in place. 2: tech support, because tech support would have to learn a whole new system, so sometimes many places are stuck with windows. and windows isnt stable

  • @tipman2000 Yeah dont ever compare a Mac OSX pc to anything.... ever. If you *Knew* ANYTHING about computers #1 you wouldnt have bought a mac book

  • @FloridaSurfer18 ha! i bought a macbook to tri-boot osx, linux, and windows! you can have your pc and all the problems that come with it, but i can always depend on mac to just work. there is nothing to dispute. why do you think so many professionals that depend on their computers for their living go with mac? why do you think people that work in the white house use macs? because they're so damn superior! i could say much more but i'm running out of space so cya!

  • @tipman2000 You do know that PC's and Apple computers use the same hardware? Knowing that; what is the advantage having Windows on a Apple computer?

  • @PawlOwl of course i know they run on the same hardware. the advantage is i can boot windows and get all the advantage of being mainstream, but my primary OS is OS X for its functionality and features and security. you can put up the argument that you can hackintosh a pc to run OS X, but there is so much risk that it probably won't work, and if it does many features won't work. i also love the styling of mac computers.

  • PFFFFTTT fail my window 7 boots up in 16 secs

  • Those SSD's has lost their main function, they should boot at least for 5 seconds!

  • from 0:45 is the real start !!!

  • mine takes like 23 seconds....

    Dell Studio XPS 1640

    Standby is under a second

  • 1 min is how long my dell inspiron 530 with 4 gb ram and a 300 gb hard drive takes to start but it takes about 40 seconds to shut down.

  • It's very long...

    My config is :

AMD athlon 64 dual core 6400+

    2X 1go DDRII kingstone hyperX 1066 mhz

    hard disk samsung 750go SATA2

and my boot time is of 30 - 35 sec...

  • meh linux mint starts up faster for me (and i have regular harddrive, 2gb ddr2 ram and a phenom II x4). though that is an impressive time for windows 7, especially shutdown which actually seems faster than linux mint =0

  • Stupid fast shutdown!

But the time for boot sucks!

  • @SutkasFan yea thats just the raid card if it was a raid config on the mobo the wait will b a lot faster

  • @SutkasFan the boot time is absolutely horrible for the drives lol

  • @SutkasFan boot time depends on alot of things though... motherboard, raid initialization ect...

  • @danthemanzizzle

Yeah i know that, i have 2 OCZ Vertex 2 120 GB in RAID 0, so it takes about 30 seconds to load the motherboard and the RAID initialization and nearly 25 seconds to boot the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version that i have.

  • @SutkasFan i get it taking a minute to boot but 25 seconds to boot windows 7 with raid 0 ssd's!? 5400 rpm hard drive would probably do it in less time. something is fishy here..

  • @danthemanzizzle

Probably cause they're connected 5 months ago, and they're connected through software RAID not through hardware RAID.

  • w/out raid would be roughly 11 secs?

  • shut it down with multiple apps and or windows open see how fast you go bye bye

  • the POST of the bios and RAID controllers seriously need to be improved. With the advent of SSD + RAID, is there really anything else preventing the "instant on" computer?

  • why is my newly installed xp can boot faster than this one. and i am sure anti virus wasnt yet installed there on win7

  • It would boot fast if you get a pci raid controler. That one on your mothboard is very slow at anayising the drives. That should cut down bootyime in half...

  • that fucking sucks. my velociraptor 300gb 10000rpm boots at 42 seconds flat, and it cost like 100 dollars!!!!!

  • Alright, alright keep it in your pants.

  • @floridabowhunter Try a single SSD, i got a vertex 2 100Gb (limited edition) it boots up in 17 seconds, with 75+ programs installed.

  • The controller analizing takes too much time, doesn't it? my single WD Caviar Blue 640GB boots up Windows7 Ultimate x64 in around 45~60 secs (incl. BIOS). But for Sure running Programmes is much faster if you have SSD ;) I will buy Intel Postville 80GB within the next few weeks...

  • ubuntu is faster than windows 7 on sdd just using a normal 5400 rpm hdd

  • real boot time is about 12-15 seconds... that guy could'nt start the count from the Raid Controller's Loading.

  • Beautifull!!

    What mboard was that? x58?

  • Nice Build Spec... Now slap MW on it :P

  • Why does every Windows SSD show-off use an iphone timer? Contradiction much? Or appeciater of all fine electronics?

  • whoa whoa whoa! Hold on! The raid controller... is it supposed to take that long to initialize? If so, why?

  • the windows it self took only 8 sec but all of ot it toook hell lot of time

  • it fucking SUCKS

  • With a HDD:

    25 second bootup

    4 second shutdown

  • The boot was not fast but the shutdown was really impressive!

  • 1 minute? oO mit 7200 rpm is faster ... takes just like abaout 40 sec...

  • your pc is realy fast!!! what's your system specs?

  • @ThePatrykfilm9000 It's mostly (if not ONLY) the SSDs.

  • @DeltaPhi79 ok, but what are the system specs of your computer??

  • wow, i think the raid controller is a bit slow though

  • Wtf? My traditional 320GB WD HD and 4GB DDR3 boots up in 29 seconds?...

  • The real time is 7s - 9s, the problem is the bios + RAID controller, is too slow to be ready and make the boot get late.

anyways, my single HDD boot in about 20" in a clean installation...

    ETC.. <3

  • my 7200 rpm 500 GB Western Digital hard drive, intel i5 650, boots Windows 7 64-bit in about 40 seconds, shut down is less than 10 seconds.

  • dude that was slow.even my hdd based pc boots faster!you've thrown your money on the window

  • 4 SSD raid0 boot in 1 minute?!

    UAHAHHHAAHA HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAA

    ahahhahahahhahh AHAHAHHAHA hA haaaa

  • @FreeYourMind911

    You are funny guy :)

  • It's not the because of the SSD's you noob.

  • @ImmortalKenny

Is it my fault if u dont understand the irony and make stupid comment and call me noob ?! OMg kid go and make your homework. We have enough primates like Bush, McCain and Palin!

  • @FreeYourMind911 You want me to make my homework? I'm pretty sure my professors do that. Why don't you go DO your homework and learn a thing or two about the English language.

  • @ImmortalKenny

your professor do your homework oh i see

  • This is really slow.Waiting so long for that raid controller to be ready.Geeze my windows boot up faster with regular hdd with no raid.

  • LOL, My Single OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD Boots up windows 7 in 20 seconds lolol (much faster than you) and my shut down time is the same 3-5 seconds.

  • Damn man BANG,

if i get the funds 1 day ill throw 4x ssds in raid0 too :) till then ......

  • 7 seconds? that's pretty impressive .. sort of, I just saw another video of a guy with 2 velociraptors do the same in about 7-8 secs...

SSD's to me are just not worth it, they're WAY too expensive and hold way too little data capacity. Still waiting till the prices go down and the gigs go up.

  • lol...i think my cheap $800 computer with a reg 7200 HDD can boot faster then a min, ill test....probably not though. IMpressive set up if only the controller didn't take so damn long!

  • By impressive i mean 4 SSD is expensive...

  • he said it BANG!

  • Windows XP fresh install was almost as fast, install a few applications and kiss that speed goodbye lol. Still i do like Windows 7, about time MS got their act together.

  • LoL my windows7 was like that too on a clean install and I have two 7200rpm sata in ide mode. Try it after gaming and using the net and loading up steam ts and logitech software and quicktime and iTunes and Kodak software. see how fast it is then!! and i dont have to keep formatting my drives to retain performance either! ssd fail for the price.

  • You don't have to reformat an SSD to retain performance... TRIM or GC will keep the drive running fine.

  • @AudibleOpinion 2x 7200 SATA in IDE mode? =/

  • @Danniboy344 Yeah last longer and I dont loose stuff if the raid fell over. You need more than two drives in raid to retain data in event of drive failure. Plus I am never in that much of a hurry to boot usually if your machine is slow you make a coffee or just leave it in sleep mode. only use the box for gaming and youtube occaisional 3d MAX and photoshop, maybe the odd blueray movie.
