i've seen a lot of ballets, and raise the red lantern is one of my top two. for depth of feeling and originality, and the set alone is a work of art, like hero the movie. the technique is not as good as kirov, etc., but it doesn't even matter much. the other best is yuan yuan tan in romeo and juliet. she's simply the best.

i wish i could see raise the red lantern again, i was so lucky to see it that first time, it'll probably never come here again. :(

I love the Raise the Red Lantern very much. I have read a book and seen the film. I love them both and now seeing a part of ballet, I really would like to see the whole!

Went to see this ballet at the Royal Opera House on Saturday, and it was a magical experience. The clips here fail to capture the stunning visuals and use of colour in the production, particularly the otherworldly death scene.
