  • Thin Lizzy best Irish band ever!!! FUCK BONO AND U2!!!

  • 3:20 to 3:30

I guess Iron Maiden used that bass line :)

  • firing on all cylinders

  • Damn! they seem so alive

  • May be one of their best tracks - and easy to play.

  • One of the most amazing legends in Irish history links the biblical prophet Jeremiah with the Emerald Isle. Ancient Irish legends recount that in addition to the king's daughters, Jeremiah brought with him "some national treasures from the Temple in Israel. The most important of these was the Lia Fail, or Stone of Destiny, Jacob's stone" The stone was later taken to Scotland by a king Fergus, and then to England. It has been used in all three countries for the coronation of monarchs.

  • @TOSportsFan1990 Liar - theres only a guitarist left, the rest are fill in for them

  • @TheDrummerSlam Brian Downey is still in the band, and the only remaining original member

  • I mean.....what can you say...it's so brilliantly written arranged and played...Wish you were still here Phil....

  • This song makes me proud to be Irish!x-D

  • Seen Robbo, Scot, Downey and John sykes 2 years ago and these mother fuckers never lost it fkn awesome show R.I.P Phil u make us all proud 2 be irish

  • @jimi95674 Just saw them open for Judas Priest in Toronto, they were surprisingly good and loud

  • Emerald!! Hells yeah...

  • This song is just completely epic. Incredible vocals, guitars, bass and drums. Can't get any better than Thin Lizzy.

  • Back when wizards, trolls and dragons roamed the earth...

  • Lynott is hot.

    His voice. His style.

    Real beauty

  • Just jizzed at 2:10

  • words cant describe how epic this is

  • This is my favorite Thin Lizzy song!!x-D

  • only a true badass can play guitar with a lit cigarette in his right hand...

  • LEGENDS NEVER DIE!!!

  • LEGEND!!!!

  • I've always disliked Thin Lizzy. Can't stand Boys are Back or Jailbreak. So I never understood why they were so loved. I guess in America, those two are the only songs you hear. Anyway, I heard Emerald on Sirius the other day and was floored. Is THIS the real Thin Lizzy!? If so, where can I get more songs like this one!? LOVE it!

  • @Bobertchin also Massacre ,Opium Trail ,Warrior ,Rosalie ,Chinatown ,Cowboy Song ,Bad Reputation ,WithLove ,Johnny the Fox. see what you think !!!

  • @Bobertchin dont believe a word, still in love with you, cowboy song... The list goes on n on check the sidebar. Best band ever

  • Robo and Gorham were and are the best twin lead guitarists of all time!!

  • @remi1961 SO RIGHT WHEN GARY ASSHOLE MOORE DID IF HE FUCKED UP LIZZY BIG TIME SO HE GOT INTO THE BLUES AND FUCKED UP THAT TOO GARY MOORE THE BIGGEST TWAT IN MUSIC

  • @yorkshiretractors fuck you gary is one of the best guitarists of all time,so i dont understand why lizzy hardcore fans hate him

  • @CrunkTheBand cos he was scum he treat fans like shit gary moore fucked and ripped of lizzy band members . he lied all the time he was a total twat to truckers moving is gear round the tours GARY MOORE IS THE BIGGEST ASSHOLE IN MUSIC

  • @yorkshiretractors Gary filled in for Robbo after Robbo got thrown out after a brawl and had to miss what was the ultimate tour that rocked the US in early 1977 which was the Queen Lizzy Tour. Thin Lizzy opened for Queen and some say Thin Lizzy blew Queen's doors off on some nights and Queen blowing the doors off Lizzy on other nights. Only if I was older in 1977 I would have gone to see that tour.

  • @tjrrockandrollmaster I SAW GARY asshole MOORE PLAY WITH LIZZY IN 1979 AT BRADFORD I ALSO HIM 4 TIMES AFTER THAT BACKING OTHER ACTS HE WAS ALWAYS SHIT AND WAS ALWAYS RUDE TO FANS THE LAST TIME I SAW HIM HE TOLD THE BASS PLAYER TO FUCK OFF AND WALKED OF THE STAGE AND NEVER CAME BACK THAT WAS IN 2008 AT LEEDS HE WAS ALWAYS LIKE THAT I WAS GOING TO SEE SKIDROW AND HE NEVER TURNED UP AND THAT WAS ABOUT 1970 I THINK SO HE WAS ALWAYS THE SAME . GARY MOORE THE MAN WHO FUCKED UP LIZZY

  • @yorkshiretractors But Phil Lynott liked the dude so he brought him back until Robbo got himself straightened out. The Thin Lizzy-Queen tour of 1977 was kick ass. Has anyone here gone to that tour. Some of the Queen fans say Queen owned Lizzy (on here) while others said Lizzy gave Queen a run for its money. I do know this song was in the setlist for that 1977 US Tour.

  • @remi1961 Absolutely love Robbo and Scott, but how about Duane Allman and Dickey Betts? They were a pretty formidable duo, too! Robbo, in my opinion, was the best guitarist Lizzy ever had.

  • Miss you dearly Phil RIP

  • Amazing song...

  • Love Thin Lizzy! The best live song ever! Brian Robertson totally shreds the solo like no other!! Miss your voice Phil. There is no one else like you!!

  • I have loved thin lizzy since birth, I am now 26. Covering lizzy's tracks in bands has been some of the best times with my mates. and seeing thin lizzy live at a private biker party was an outer body experience that if I didnt have witnesses still wouldnt believe. I raise a glass and make a toast "TY THIN LIZZY for making life rock!!!!"

  • if you dislike this you hate rock!

  • mastodon knows who they have to cover.

  • mastodon knows who they have to cover

  • @1jackiea, thanks, Wow Motörhead, I'll have to check that out, and his Cd. Surprised he never got back with Brian, and Scott.

    Thanks again.

  • @theweegman wish he would it be fucken awesome ,type up Bad Reputation and there is a doco on ThinLIzzy ,Robbo is on it .4 part series .Peace

  • What ever happened to Brian Robertson?

  • @theweegman he went on to played with Motorhead ,did a recent solo C.D. ,that's all i know .

  • my personal favorite

  • If you want a better version(in my opinion) of this song, with much better solos click my name or my response to this video. its the Live and dangerous album version, i couldnt find it on youtube so i pu it up.

''"Thin Lizzy - Emerald - Live and dangerous"

This video contains content from UMG. It is not available in your country''

CAN'T BE WATCHED IN IRELAND????? FUCK UMG. FUCK THEM FUCK THEM.

  • @Primordialfan1 i dont know why that is. Im in ireland and it works for me, maybe just cause i uploaded it. yes UMG are a shower of wankers.

  • Irish Rock Rules!!!!!!

  • lynott has an incredible stage presence as a frontman

  • @jhoch5 Yes, indeed!! to me he's an extraordinary artist in all meaning of the concept - and he has the hole audience in his grip! look at the vids from Sydney (and many moore!)

  • Thin Lizzy is performing again but it will never be the same without the singer :(

  • @senman6

and without the magic pair of guitarists Gorham/Robertson also my dear.....

  • @tealshelp is in love with pinfolder.

  • Why do I always think a clip of a guitarist with a cigarette in his hand is cool

  • @MrWatto45 be more cooler if it was a joint .!

  • Greatest Irish band that ever had and ever will exist!!!!

  • Great guitar solos even better bass playing from phil

  • Awesome band! two Les Paul's, two guitar harmonies, trade off solos, and great m usicians, You just cant beat that.

  • Justin Bieber and Myley Cyrus are the king and queen or rock. LOL sorry for trolling! Thin Lizzys first three albums, as a trio, are great too!

  • these guys are under rated as hell

  • "anybody here with any irish in them?...

any of the girls want a little bit more Irish in them? ;-)"

    genius

  • Lizzy - finger lickin' righteousness - Lizzy has no equal! da da da da dadda dadda da dadda da dadda da da ...

  • thinlizzy the best band in the world fucked up by the biggest twat in music GARY MOORE

  • @yorkshiretractors Why would you say that?

  • @yorkshiretractors Why would you say that? Gary Moore is arguably one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Plus, his time spent with Lizzy, is and was one of the most productive...not only lyrically, but musically of Phil's entire musical carrer! You have no idea of Thin Lizzy. Musically or historically.

  • @johnydafox how fuck do you know owt about thin lizzy seeing your in the USA i saw lizzy i also saw gary moore is that is why i know he was a piss up asshole who could not play live and he tret fans like shit . so it seems it is you who knows fuck all about lizzy . but your a yanky twat you know fuck all about owt

  • @yorkshiretractors and You're still trolling places spreading hate about the late Gary Moore even after his death? That's pretty low man, try and have some respect... I hope you don't consider yourself a fan of Lizzy because the members have all stated that they were freinds... there was no ill will. I must have talked to you atleast a year or two ago about the same shit man, just chill out and accept the fact the Moore has fans, people enjoy his playing and you aren't gonna change that.

  • @yorkshiretractors why are you so fucken aggro all the time?

  • @yorkshiretractors And you wanted to put your nose right up it and he wouldn't let you; Right?

  • @yorkshiretractors Cause yorkie loves pain so he kept going to Gary Moore concerts and then he always says Gary Moore rips him off and then he goes to another one. Now Garys dead and yorkshire doesn't have anything to cry about anymore but he keeps on crying. Poor little baby.

  • name one better song than THIS!!!!betcha can't.

  • dammit! I came on my jewels..

  • any of the girls with any irish in them ? any of the girls would like a bit of irish in them ! rip mate .

  • One of my favourite TL songs ever...

  • this is possibly the most rockin' song of all time

  • Dos;nt get any better than this .!!!

  • Maiden's ROOTS

  • WHAT A BAND !!!!! Unbelievable energy. Fantastic sound. Great songs. SIMPLY AWESOME !!! I also want to say this.....I think Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson is the most amazing guitar duo. One of the greatest bands ever, and probably the most underated.

  • 2.10 - 2.25: Thin Lizzy were so fucking amazing at guitar cadences, classic guitar playing

  • never was a big TL fan but this, is @#$%^&* incredible stuff, I`m a fan now.

  • I am proud to say I seen that THIN LIZZY back drop and PHILO'S bass at his exhibition is St. Stephens Green, ends tomorrow :(

  • lead guitar and ciggy as well

  • Phil just exuded coolness; and yes, I realize I'm not exactly the coolest person for saying "coolness."

  • Finally got to see TLizzy about 4 yrs ago, sans Phil L.. They rocked. They were supposed to open for Robin Trower in about '76 but the guitarist? cut his hand was the report so Point Blank was substituted. Peace.

  • black sabbath meets metallica before metallica was metallica...As influentional as anyone and as kickass as anyone...these guys are flawless.

  • Gorham/Robertson are among the greatest guitar pairings of all time.

  • @pcdd11pj Right up there with Glenn Tipton/K.K. Downing and Dave Murray/Adrian Smith.

  • Well now they have john sykes as a guitarist, correct? Pretty much one of the best guitarists ever!

  • This is music!

  • 1:44 ... uk ur an outright badass/guitar legend if ur playin with ease with a cigarette burnin in ur picking hand...

  • man what a fucken song, i wanna be there.

  • o siiii

  • Im 14, never got to see them, and it sucks. But im in love with this band!

  • @carly12142 they are still going round gigging, i saw them in January or February i think, obviously without lynott they arent the same but their stand in is amazing. Still got legends like Downey and Gorham

  • @DrumsMattT omg really, i gotta tell my dad, he might not wanna go tho, because hes always wanted to see lynott and never got the chance. But i would LOVE to!

  • @carly12142 yh its not the same without lynott obviously but they are great live and well worth going to see, i was lucky and they played right near me and the ticket was only 22 quid

  • @carly12142 arrrr your american so you would probs have to come to england because i dont think they play internationally anymore, im not even sure if they are gigging now, i think the gig i went to in february was one of the last in that tour but they may gig some more later this year, just search it

  • @DrumsMattT will do, thanks

  • @DrumsMattT They do gig, they just played Slane here in Ireland with Kings of Leon. Scott Gorham even came along for that one. Sadly Phil is gone, but even as a support act you'd probably say they were better than KoL.

  • All the songs (I'VE HEARD) with "emerald" in their title are rock, metal, power metal and that. My name is esmeralda and I love the genders since I was 12 :D

  • Phil had the perfect vocals for all his songs, Maiden wasnt as good I M O .

  • You can hear where Iron Maiden got their sound from. This is a tonne better.

  • One of the best live acts ever

  • Saw them in Houston at the Sam Houston backing up Nazareth in the 70's. What a fucking show that was. Thin Lizzy rocked the place and Nazareth got booed, oh yeah

  • Thank, Thin Lizzy,Greatest is The Band

  • Thank, Thin Lizzy

  • Me? I love em, brilliant stuff..... If you don't like this then what in heavens name are you watching it for? If superb, wonderful boner inducing music aint your thing then I for one will pray for your mortal soul... I cant be fairer than that. Twin guitars best thing ever invented

  • @bushidobonce i skip the boner and go straight to ejaculation

  • Thin Lizzy is, quite simply, one of the 4 or 5 greatest rock bands ever. EVER!

  • Il n'y a pas que les Irlandais pour penser que c'est le meilleur groupe le preuve je suis Français ....Thin LIZZY avec Phil LYNOTT était le meilleur groupe et de loin

  • 34 people with piss poor taste...thus far. Anyone who's truly rocked, cut their teeth on this stuff. I would bet that even your heroes would slap you silly if they knew you gave this a thumbs down. What the hell are you doing even visiting this page? Death metal fans...or Britney spears??? Either way...go play with yourself on another page and leave the legends to us.....

  • @TheVoodooswampshack Death Metal fans are down with the Lizzy too man! Just people with piss poor taste who dislike.

  • i would like to personally smack all the 34 people who dont like this..thumbs up if yuh with me...HOW COULD YUH NOT LIKE THIN LIZZY!!!!!!!!!

  • HAIL THIN LIZZY - no bickering required - those twin leads brutal yet romantic, downey on the kit is always surgical and Phil, God Bless his soul left us with a catalog to always remember his magic. I LOVE YOU THIN LIZZY!

  • Devastates me that Phil passed, I try play bass like him on stage....i'm no where near as cool though!

  • First band I ever saw live and still one of the best gigs

  • the greatest guitar duo of ALL TIME. just a finely tuned weapon.

  • i think all of my hair just fell out at 2:30. it's called premature hair loss-due to monumentally-kick ass-guitar soloing.

  • @ezrhino100 couldnt a said it better!!!!!

  • @ezrhino100 That's so funny!

I was at that show in the first row and it had the opposite affect on me.

    My pubes grew that moment!

  • @minjoem just what we wanted to know !must be grey now .ha ha .!!

  • @1jackiea True

  • @ezrhino100 phil's wicked ass melody on bass ain't hurtin' it any, either!

  • LIzzy was the first "famous" band I ever saw. I was 7 rows from the front and right in front of Phil. I'd never experienced anything like it. I was 17. I'm now 48 and still NEED to play "Live and Dangerous" to wash my soul clean from time to time. It's on vinyl too which I still love. My ears rang for 2 days inside my crash helmet. What a band. Cheers All!

  • Brian Downey on Drums, Brian Robertson Lead Guitar ,Scott Gorham Lead Guitar (long hair) 1976 to 79 Line up.Best Band EVER!!!!

  • can anyone tell me who we`re watching here (apart from the obvious `lynott`)?

  • The best live album from the all time - Live & Dangerous.

  • Couldn't make it through this day without listening to this song & Whiskey In The Jar. Happy Saint Patrick's Day my friends!

  • Happy st paddys day!

  • Lizzy is the greatest and most underrated band ever! They were so ahead of their time. They've influenced so many bands. Listen to what they did and when they did it. From the land of great music even many Irish people think they're 1 of the best if not the best. Happy St. Patrick's Day 2011.

  • this is their best song in my view, but what song is their best song? Right?

  • Ha Brian Robertson, cigarette in hand, taking drags in between licks. Nice.

  • Amazing song after all these years man

  • *****Masterpiece*****

  • @yorkshiretractors who gives a shit saddo.

  • @thegreatlizzy Spam

  • Me and the boys was the B-side of the Rosalie (live version) single in 1978...

  • any one no what the very last song is from the live and dangerous video,it was the encore

  • @scorps59 me and the boys....was never on a studio album but friggin killer. Hope this helps

  • @raiderbri thats the one,cheers

  • It is amazing to me to this day how Thin Lizzy held such a high standard... it was almost like a right of passage for guitarists who were lucky enough to play with Phil... there is still no other band (40 years later) that has the chops and tightness, and still some pop accessability, like Thin Lizzy had. RIP Phil.
