The honourable JI Packer makes me think of Jamer Fraser and Isobel Kuhn. These people are examples for all of us: truth, honesty, love, courage, the keywords that they live out. We need them as much as our daily food and water.
you dont need a phd to understand the clear things of the bible like this so give the ones who truly seek a break, 1 Corinthians 5:11 (New International Version)
11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
So much for free speach eh? I think I've had enough of you freaks telling us how we should accept a decrepid lifestyle such as homosexuality. Enough of your false stats and pop psychology bullsh%t.
I don't think that succesful apologetics work by just quoting scripture, we must return to the way of the Church Fathers, and use secular philosophy to prove Christian points.

Wow, I thought the christianist-fascist, anti-gay groups were limited to the southern United States. It is sad that anti-gay bigots exist in a progressive nation like Canada. Doesn't Canada have laws against hate speech?
What's with the name calling? Do you have difficulty in answering in a reasonable manner? Yes, Canada does have laws against hate crime. But it also honours talking without fear of state repression.
What problem do you have with truth. You are anti-gay and you are part of the worldwide christianist-fascist movement. You are trying to impose your religious values on a secular, democratic country. Half of you heterosexuals get divorces. Why don't you fix heterosexual marriage before you attack gay people.
I have no problem with truth. In fact, I love it! Also, I'm not anti-gay although I believe homosexuality is a sin. As for the term 'Christianist-fascist' that's absurd. Fascists are state-focused, Christians are Christ focused. Fascists put the state above everything else; a Christian would NEVER put anything above Christ. You show your unknowingness by (1) coupling those two term and (2) saying Canada is not religious. Read our history, learn our motto, Canada is a Christian nation.
The Canadian motto, 'From sea to shining sea' is a direct quote from Psalm 72.8. The founding fathers intentionally used that biblical quote to express their vision of the new nation, a biblical-based vision. Read William Westfall's excellent history, Two Worlds, to learn the facts. However much you may wish the facts to disappear, they are obvious and indelible.
But your desire to ban same-sex marriage is a civil matter. Do you renounce anti-gay violence? Are you proud of your association with GAFCON and Howard Ahmanson who was at the GAFCON conference?
AnglicanGuy246: (1) Homosexuality is more than a civil matter. (2) As a Christian, I don't advocate violence against anyone who is LGB or T. 'Renounce' implies that I approved of it once; I never have, so I can hardly renounce it now. I do condemn it, though. (3) What is GAFCON?
Who are you, WallyJo? Why are you doing this? Are you the interviewer?
Anyway I am from Holland/Europe. The majority of Dutch, orthodox christians, inspired by a mentality of political correctness, is on the run for the gay-movement. There is still some resistence, albeit small. I congratulate you Mr. Packer with you stand in this. And thank you also, WallyJo for sending in the video. God bless you both. We must not give in.

Great, solid reasoning. He explains why this issue is not adiaphorous ... and why the answer must necessarily be the traditional Christian one.

He's not doing apologetics here. The audience is supposed to be the Anglican church. We use Scriptural reasoning to decide issues in the church.

brandyspearsca.... perhaps... in answer to your comment. With the exception that 3 billion people aren't actual followers of leprachauns.

Isn't a theologian the equivalent of a leprachaunologist?
