  • Doctor Zero!!

  • D O C T O R V E N T U R E..venture brothers is hands down the best modern cartoon ! GO TEAM VENTURE

  • This is the hottest man on the planet and if he went into space he would be the hottest man in space. I would die if I was in a bathtub with him holy shit

  • He's hogging all the bubbles.

  • 0:17 I thought there was a baby in the water, but then I realized it was just that guy's knee.

  • I actually like that episode of SVU.

  • I don't understand why everyone else is so bent out of shape about this. Comedy is comedy. If they don't like the subject matter, all they have to do is click away from it instead of preaching needlessly. This was by far not even remotely the worst rape related comedy I've heard. Sara, you're awesome, your bathing suit was cute, and you and James were a nerd's dream come true. Don't stop doin' what you do, girl.

  • You can hear the Rusty in him. <3

  • i just came in my pants

  • They're robot bones!

  • I think I'm in love with Sara. Maybe lust, but love could get there with time... maybe we'll just stick with lust after all

  • I LOVE HIS VOICE!!!!!! IT'S AMAZING!!!

  • u such fucken whore big mouth bitch,

  • Count me one more nerd who came in his pants.

    Also, great post-credits bit.

  • She has a huge pair!

  • I came

  • I must remember this womans name cuz she is too beautiful for words....

  • Does the water get cold by the time you get to the end of the show?

  • I really like his bath tub.

  • Urbaniak is the coolest geek!

  • GO TEAM VENTURE!!!!!! <3!

  • This is certainly the best interview in a bathtub I've seen all week. Perhaps even all month :)

  • I love this show too. I always thought hank was cute xD

But I really really really really love Amy Sedaris she is the funniest comedian out there, funnier than chris rock allllll off them, can't believe her name came up in this interview.

  • Why a tub full of water? Guess everyone's gotta have a gimmick.

  • You should see John Malkovich's bathtub interview.

  • Great interview :)

  • You have made me very happy. Especially with the David Sedaris comment. Go you.

  • Yay!!!!! It is soooo awesome that you got to meet him!!! I'm so jealous; you are funny as well--lol. I love your enthusiasm--you kept your cool through the whole vid around him; I would've been so nervous. He seems like a pretty down to earth guy. I honestly think you are awesome! :D

    GO TEAM VENTURE!!!!!!!

    R.I.P. #24

  • Yea Venture brothers! That's a cute little squid there on the tub.

  • i just came. this rocked my world. my world is rocked! anyways....thanks!

  • Wasn't it George Carlin who said that anything can be funny in right context? Certainly, if we find the humorous side to war, murder, drug trafficking, genocide, gulags and Chinese food, we can make jokes about rape. I think the point is not to make the horrible criminal act into some kind of sacrosanct object -- besides, this almost implies that rape leaves a person with dignity, which, obviously, it does not. Perhaps the ONLY response to rape is comedy.

  • @darkprose An interesting response, and certainly one that gives me pause to think. I was thinking today that I ought to look up some of Carlin's old interviews for inspiration, because if I'm going to joke about these issues, I should look to the Master (RIP) for his perspective.

  • Your responses are always very reasonable -- and I think, looking back at my comment, that I grossly oversimplified things. I was thinking of the philosopher Slavoj Zizek and his remarks that when a person is in really deep shit, so to speak, even the tragic element -- a fundamental human dignity, self-determination, etc -- is stripped away, and all that is left is a crazy, desperate, absurd comedy. Anyway, I appreciate your work. It is often very thought-provoking.

  • @SaraBenincasa I am a date rape victim, and the happiest moment of my life was when I felt strong enough to listen to that Carlin joke. I know how much it can hurt to hear those things, sometimes they bring it up all over again, but I also recognize the principle involved and the strength that humor can give people.

  • @darkprose, Anything, in THEORY can be made funny. But, I have NEVER seen anyone take their victimization at the hands of a rapist and turn that into a source of laughs.

Production Assistants on SVU aren't actually assigned to brutalize actresses cast as rape victims to help them get into character. The concept is ludicrous! Unfortunately, to get to the punch, I have to mentally line up a bunch a brutalized, raped women. For me, that's UNFUNNY. What is the right context for a funny rape joke?

  • The concept is ludicrous, as you say. Again, I think once one links up rape with SVU in such a way, I think this is funny -- that is, one experiences some incredible incongruity. I don't think it, in any way, makes rape any less of an horrific, dehumanizing crime. And, I think you are wrong about women who turn rape into a joke, especially as an important way to survive, which is to de-victimize the person, to achieve distance from such horror.

  • James is so rad. I have to go watch Weeds now.

  • I enjoy "Getting Wet," but as matter of civility, jokes about rape are probably even less funny than jokes about the holocaust. But no, that's a judgement call I'm not willing to make, which is more tasteless and vile, jokes about rape or jokes about the holocaust. "Rape" is just one of those "third rail" topics of humor. It kills the mood.

I can see how in just riffing off the cuff offensive stuff can get said. Not everything's gold. But how did that joke make it past edit?

  • @RockingJamboree Hi RJ. I appreciate your thoughts. I think comics often address taboo topics, sometimes touching that third rail. Sarah Silverman is a prime example. My intent was to make fun of SVU, not sexual assault. As a fan of SVU, I know as well as anyone else that the show relies on a fairly predictable (and successful) formula: there's an assault, with a victim, and a red herring, and a true perpetrator. At any rate, I chose the topic, and James did not. I respect your point of view.

  • Thanks for your prompt response. And I don't want to come across as a sanctimonious prig. I can appreciate comics addressing taboo subjects. I can see the funny in "Life of Brian" or even "The Producers."

I think I'm more sensitive to "rape humor" because I have a close friend who was brutally raped. And my sister runs a blog that explores these issues: "Wisecrack: Feminism and Comedy. She has run a series of articles about rape humor. The blog has done some really good interviews too! ; )

  • @RockingJamboree Well thank you for watching, and for taking the time to consider and thoughtfully address the issue. It's worlds away from the usual "fuk u bitch" critical comments. ;) You gave me food for thought.

  • @RockingJamboree It's odd because I have a close friend who was brutally raped and she's makes comedy out of it. She says holding onto those negative feelings is like allowing said trauma to continue affecting your psyche and emotional stability. The argument is, though, that there are people out there who don't understand humor and confuse it for taking something "lightly" (which is hardly the case), and this could cause the wrong people to decide it's okay to hurt someone.

  • @harveypotato Are your friend's jokes about her rape funny? I'm just asking because you didn't say they were. Are those jokes dull or clever? Are they tasteless? Do you consider them in poor taste? Could you repeat them to your mother? Would your Mom laugh? Real laughs or uncomfortable snickers?

Can any comedian have poor taste? What made Michael Richard's career ending rant SO tasteless and unfunny? Was it the violence, the racism or just the lack of anything clever behind it?

  • @RockingJamboree - Yes, clever, yes, yes (which is good), probably not (which is also good), no (she's not hip to the jive), and n/a. I'd say "any" comedian can't have poor taste because too many comedians are just going for the shock value and haven't given much thought to the joke (and may not come from a philosophical mindset of someone who has) . I don't know anything about Michael Richards, but I will say that it sucks when people make a bigger deal out of rape than our education system.

  • @harveypotato If no comedian can EVER have poor taste, then debating what is tasteless or not is pointless. But that seems ludicrous. It denies words matter or have any meaning at all. And if someone chooses to say something vile without any intent to enlighten or inform, if the goal is just the cheap snickers of uncomfortable laughter from sheer shock value; that's almost always pointless and tasteless. And it rapidly becomes very, very mechanical, predictable and dull; extremely NOT funny.

  • @RockingJamboree - Obviously. But how is this in response to what I wrote?

  • James Urbaniak is my favorite supercilious weirdo.

  • WhyTF doesn't this have a thousand hits by now?!?

  • best series on youtube. marry me, sara.

  • do you know how many nerds just came in their pants? -> +1

  • +1 as well

  • Where do I get one of those green octopus guys?

  • Fantastic.

  • That was hilarious.
