Very impressive progress. I actually just invested in my first CoC grippers and have decided to train my grip more. What was your training like? Like rest days, reps and what not. I'm pretty clueless on the subject.
Dude I love this vid,do some more, most people here think I'm freakin crazy because I love my grip trainin so much, its nice to see people with the same entusasium as me
@TheWiesel4879 if you're closing the 2 you shouldnt need any tips just keep on doing what got you there. the 2 is what sets u out from the crowd. well done
see what im wondering is i have a set of heavy grips hand grippers going up to 250 lbs rating. I can close the 200. What im beginning to think is that there might be a difference in the rating between the HG's and the CoC's. does anyone know if there is?
@nackorath yeah and i went into Bentleys night club for the first time ever last nite and i pulled paris hilton, and than brittney spears wanted me as well, and on the way to the car the saturdays said they fancied a portion too. Is that any good?
I noticed you used a choker to close the 2.5. Only use that sparingly, as you want tpower through your full ROM. Very impressive video. I see a 3 in your future.
trust me, there are not the "garden variety" hand grippers sold in sports stores... The ones that say CoC on the bottom are "Captains of Crush" grippers. You see the #1 and #2 grippers he's using? Order those and give 'em a shot... lol
Great vid, man, it motivated me and I'm gonna start grip training myself. So how do you exercise? Do you squeeze the grips and hold that position? do you do repetitions? I'd like to know what a decent routine consists of.
Great to hear your are starting training. The most popular forms of training are single repetition negatives and overcrushes.
A negative is when you force a gripper that you cannot close shut (by cheating, pushing it against your leg, or extending one of the handles using a pipe for extra leverage) and then try and stop it from opening with one hand. I do this with the RB300 (similar to a #3.5) even though I can only close the RB210 (or #2.5) unassisted.
An overcrush is where you take a gripper you can close quite easily, and try to grind the handles together as hard as you can for 5~7seconds. I do this with the RB180 and #2.
I normally do 6 sets of single rep negatives and overcrushes per training session. My sessions alternate between using the gripper the normal way up and upside down.
If you join the gripboard, there are training routines from people much stronger and more experienced than me.
Nice! Ive recently started grip training myself and this video really shows fast progress on your part!! Ive recently been able to close the CoC#1, but im unable to perform reps with it. From what i could see it seems cross training with multiple grippers yields the best results?? Like others have said, this video is pretty dam inspirational! Well done!!!!
I think using inbetween strength grippers helps you make the jump a bit quicker. However, even though when you are on the verge of closing a gripper, the gap seems huge, once you start closing them, the difference becomes less noticeable, and you end up with a load of grippers that feel the same.
For eg. I have a RB160, #2, RB180. It took about 1month to progress from one gripper to the next, but now I can barely tell which one is harder.
how do the RB grippers compare to the CoC? is the 130 a little like the #1 and the 160 a little harder than the #1.5? i need something in between the #1.5 and #2 :o
The knurling is a bit sharper and the handles a bit thicker so I find them easier to set. (I have slippery hands).
However, unlike the COCs, the springs have different diameters between grades and this has a bit impact on the feel of the gripper between the different levels.
The strength of grippers vary, so this may not be true in general, but I have tried one 130 and found it a lot easier than my #1. My 160 is between my #1.5 and #2, but is closer to my #2 than my #1.5. Hope this helps.
Awesome video-Truly inspirational! out of interest, have you ever tried the Ivanko Super Gripper/ Iron Woody Gripper? They claim to offer more progression through smaller poundages.
I haven't tried the ivanko super gripper or the Iron woody gripper, but I do have a Vulcan gripper which I ordered from David Horne.
It also offers smaller jumps like the super gripper and iron woody and is more similar in its design to the standard spring wound grippers. The lowest level feels like a #1 and level 6 feels like a #2, level 9 something like an #2.5, so maybe it offers something like 3 levels between COC grippers.
Great video. It definitely captured your impressive journey. I'm new to grip training (working on the CoC Trainer) and was hoping you can give me some advice. Also, have you noticed any increase in the size/thickness of your hands? I'm interested in adding size and thickness to my hands.
There are a lot of people around who can give you much better advice than me, so my first suggestion would be to join the gripboard and have a look at other peoples training routines. Other than that, i have found a bit of variety goes a long way. I have recently started training pinch as well as training grippers and it seems to help a lot.
The base of my hand (thumb pad and little finger pad) is much wider and thicker than b4 training, but I still have skinny fingers.
Youtube doesn't let my type URLs in comments, so please try typing the words in " " in any search engine and you should be able to find your way to the relevant websites.
captains of crush grippers can be ordered from the "ironmind" website.
I have ordered RB grippers from their german website, try "rb grip".
Finally, though I don't own any myself, BB grippers can be ordered from their website, try "wwfitness bb"
So how much work needs to be done to develop one's grip? I know improving grip is a side effect of other exercises (e.g. deaflift) and likewise it allows you to lift more in other exercises, but in terms of dedicated grip strength training how much work is required?
My reply was too long so I had to split it in two.
Murofushi Kouji is rumoured to have closed the #3 and pulled 100kg+ on a grip tester with no dedicated grip training. However, he also won the Olympic Hammer, both his parents were Olympians and he has been training professionally for over 20years.
If you imagine people with non-Olympian DNA, working office jobs, achieving similar levels of grip strength after a few years training grip 2~3times a week, it is pretty impressive. I think what I'm trying to say is, you can definitely develop amazing hand strength through normal training, but dedicated training will yield faster results, for a lot less work overall.
wow.. nice to see you can get a lot of progress in a short time... just got my numero uno today..

You need to have more than 600kg pressure to close an real monstergrip ;).
Nobody can close it -.-

There is a big jump from the #2.5 and RB210 to the next level, but I think I am getting there (slowly).
BTW I visited your channel, ACDC is a serious contender if I make enough progress for a part 2 (lol). It's that or danger zone from Topgun.

At the moment I train my grip 3 times a week (wrists on tuesdays, grippers on fridays and blob on sundays).
I've tried training everyday, and I've tried going all out twice a week, but 3times a week seems to work best for me.

I started out with probably below average grip strength, but hopefully I'll be able to gradually work my way up to the big grippers.
I still need a deep set for the COC2.5 and RB210, but I hope to no set both (some day).
Thanks for the advice, I'll have another go with the tag lines.
