Hey! You were right when you said, Those people could be sitting on chicken point,They were!!! The jeeps used to be allowed to drive around the rock they were sitting on years ago...Forest service put the boulders around it to prevent people from driving around it today..............

@mkzen777 WOW! Mystery solved! It all makes sense to me now! Many thanks! This was a great walking trail, definitely would recommend it! We were going to walk completely around the monoliths but hitch-hiked a ride from the “Chapel of the Holy Cross” parking lot back to our vehicle parked at the trailhead. Thanks for the comments!
