I remember one match with Sawyer vs the US Express (some twins). After the match, Sawyer beat one with a chain and wrapped him up in it (binding his arms and legs in the process). He then bench pressed the guy over his head, then threw him onto the concrete floor from the ring. I remember it so vividly because the guy (I forget his name) had his arms and legs bound buy the chain, and had no way to brace his fall. Just a huge THUD. Mad Dog was precisely that!
The sad part of this was that Buzz was the exact kind of wrestler Vince Mcmahon had in mind to leed the wwf into the future, but like so many after him Drugs took Buzz and the chance to see him really come into his own in future matches.
In working for the Phila Spectrum for 27 years,Back In 1984 Buzz Sawyer made one appearence for the WWF and appeared in our Spectrum I was very fortunate to get a picture with him.Unfortunately drugs took their toll and Buzz was never seen in a WWF ring again
I'd heard Buzz was also a bit of an asshole, stiff on younger talent difficult with promoters. One story involved Buzz being approached by a big young guy name of Mark Calaway who wanted Buzz to teach him, Buzz took his money and left town without a single lesson (well, maybe one, the most important lesson). Fortunately Mark, a little wiser, hung on and found a better teacher and eventually became The Undertaker.

Wrestling clip comments sure need to be moderated here.
There was nothing quite like watching the Von Erich Boys. They provided much more action then the Hart family got to give us on TV (unless you count the numerous other great Dungeon trainees). I really miss the heyday of the Von Erich Boys and I miss Buss Sawyer too. He was another great one. RIP dead Von Erich Boys and Sawyer.
This is stupid because is not real, its just a dance, and there´s people who think this is real, this is what i call stupid. And not sir, im sorry but im not homosexual.
Kevin is sexy

Old type wrestling was much more real in its sport realism.

@Aur0rah Yea I liked it better. Man, ya had wrestlers drunk, High, jacked up on who knows what. Its way before they started cracking down on that.

The Von Erich story really is tragic,I didn't realize Buzz was gone too, that sucks. Which was the biggest of the Von Erich boys? Kerry?
goldenagenut 4 years ago
Yeah, I'd say Kerry was the biggest draw. Or if you mean physically, Kerry's still yer answer.
