  • I just had a repub try to say to me that she is against being in Afghanistan. I hope you do think that way. We need to pull out. know your world history everyone the europeans and russian armies have all been through what we're going through now it's not worth the cost. End Iraq and Afghanistan president Obama. This is too big of a mistake.

  • It seems to me that most of these republicans that agree that we spend an eternity in Iraq for controlling iran's nuclear capabilities are afterthought hounds. They try to find every reason not to pull out . They know that they were no weapons of mass destructions, but yet they try to justify their wrongness. Staying in Iraq is bad for us and the Iraqi's it will not solve anything.

  • 3) One other thing, I really think Obama IS Ayer's protege. Obama started his career in Ayer's house. They both worked together on political/social projects in Chicago like the Annenberg Challenge, and Ayers has been to the Whitehouse plenty of times since the election. ( birds of a feather flock together )

  • Cenk is a badass motherfucker with a very large penis.

  • Born Muslim... I love controlling people...now this site makes sense.

  • so based on your statement is could say:

Retarded rednecks who sleep in their american flag jammies are time traveling mindreaders..if anything.

    Also: WRONG.

  • If I was a redneck and a time traveler then maybe your idiotic assumption would have made you look superior in attacking my comment. I'm frankly the shit, so you can blow those rednecks you are so fond of.

  • AN OBSERVATION from my experience: Majority of Republicans (not all) are racist and hate muslims; Majority of Democrats are tolerant and don't hate muslims. Why is that? Aside from the fact the latter (i.e., democrats) are mostly rational people, possess an ability to think critically, and are open to other cultures/beliefs, it seems that many republicans have got a hate for everything and everyone who are not like them, and want to demonize everyone, despite the Jesus-is-Love slogan.

  • Republicans only added Christians to their party some 30+ years ago or so. It isn't a party based on love or Jesus, it's an economically concerned party that was clever about getting the religious to support them.

  • That is the most pathetic analysis of anything that I have ever heard. HAHAH

  • Also if you were a Muslim and you are now no longer Muslim, according to the Qur'an the punishment for apostasy is death. Just saying.

    I am not religious.

  • Lol, but what isn't punishable by death in the Qur'an, Bible, or the Torah.

Seriously, everybody who eats at Red Lobster should be put in the electric chair tomorrow according to the Bible.

  • No one is born Muslim. Muslim parents force their religion on their child which should be classified as child abuse. But anyway, no one is born religious at all, in fact all babies are born without the knowledge of a god, technically they are actually born Atheists (without a belief in god).

  • Atheist doesn't mean without beliefs, it means denying the existence of gods. It's the antonym for theist.

Also, I believed in God as a child. I didn't call that God, I just always felt my creator with me, watching my life. I thought I might be the only person on the planet with this knowledge. It wasn't until I was a teenager that I realized that when people said "God", it was an idea they formed vaguely referring to this reality they had heard of.

  • WIKIPEDIA

"Atheism can refer either to the rejection of theism, or to the position that deities do not exist. In the broadest sense, it is the absence of belief in the existence of deities."

Babies are not born with their religion, therefore have an absence of belief in the existence of deities

  • You post that as if it were from the dictionary. That's an accurate definition followed by a personal interpretation. So what? Why try to redefine the word - it's a perfectly good word and doesn't need to be redefined.

Also, you have assumed religion = the only way one gets spiritual beliefs or knowledge of a deity. As I said, my experience was different. I have no doubt I'm not the only one.

  • God is an imaginary friend for adults.

    Case closed

  • Then I guess you won't mind if I say... Rot in Hell.

  • I don't believe in hell so go right ahead. To be honest though, even if there was a hell, I would rather go there than hang out with a bunch of faggy religious types in heaven.

  • Says you? I'm not religious but I think theres something out there that has a hand now and then

  • @christmasdnc Sorry to tell you this, but that makes you a Theist. .

  • That doesn't affect me. I'm okay with being a theist. And I'm okay with someone not being a theist - lol sounds funny

  • I'm ok with anyone wanting to be a theist also. Its when Theists try to push their agenda through politics to tell me what I can and can't do in my life... That's where I draw the line.

A persons religion should be a purely personal thing and not effect anyone else. Unfortunately it effects almost everything. I am just glad I don't live in America.

  • Yea I think everyone except religious people hate religion fucking with everything. But I'm glad to live in America, kinda like having a stupid little brother. Hes dumb, but hes family lmao

    Where do you live?

  • Australia

  • I wonder if god always felt his creator with him. That is the creation argument right? If something exists it has to have been created... right?

  • I think creation arguments differ with every religion. At the base of most religion what is taught is that it is impossible to understand God - it later on morphs into something where religious leaders tell you they understand God and they'll tell you how it works.

  • You missed my point. You said "I just always felt my creator with me" Which means you believe in creationism. And at the heart of creationism is that everything has a creator, which means god, In any sense of the word, would have had to of been created. Countless evidence of micro evolution aside.

  • OK, I didn't understand you think I believe in creationism. I believe God created the universe so that it would evolve and have the laws it has. Creationism means lack of evolution - I don't believe in creationism, I think it's essentially anti-spiritual and anti-science.

But, I will say that creationism, which I emphasize I don't believe in, doesn't say God must have been created. It also says God is beyond understanding.

  • God is a creation for the unexplainable. There is no proof god exists.

  • How do you know?

  • It is pretty obvious he is. You believe he created the universe because there is no scientific evidence to prove other wise hence it is an answer to the unexplainable.

  • It's pretty obvious? That's not a reason, that's just saying it's obvious to you.

Also, you assume I believe what I do for lack of scientific evidence. This other guy assumes I believe in creationism. Someone else assumes I believe because of religion. This is all assumption, and it's all wrong. If you aren't curious, you aren't curious. But why assume where my beliefs come from?

  • Sure it is.

There is no proof this imaginary figure you worship created the universe humans etc etc.

So please explain why you believe God created the universe?

  • If you believe there's no proof, there's no reason for me to explain. You've already decided it's imaginary and I'm fine with that.

  • There is every reason for you too explain.

The only reason there is not too explain is because it could lead to my statement of why people believe he created the universe. There being no answer of how we got here or the planets.

  • Belief in God doesn't need to contradict anything about the scientific origin of the universe, and mine doesn't.

Again, you assert there can only be one reason for something I say or believe. Why should I engage you? You aren't interested in my beliefs, only in making yourself right. So be right, I'm not interested in changing your belief.

  • What ever my man. You could have explained yourself but chose not too have a good one.

  • Nah The GiantRobot is right you do't want to listen ironically youre preaching about Anti-God shit

  • That is coming from a person with the name christmasdnc.

Please. You have proven to be a theist.

  • Haha bringing up names are we "WalkSeeknnDestroySell" and being a thiest isnt a instant "argument winner" I never denied it so bringing it up is redundant - do you even have an argument?

  • You are talking about intelligence when you believe in something with no proof............. Please buddy you theist/spiritual individuals assume you are supperior even if you deny it.

  • So you believe in a god who is powerless? If he had any powers it would contradict scientific exploration. You can't say that water is 2 parts hydrogen and 1 parts oxygen then say because god made it that way, it makes the idea of god meaningless. The universe is random and chaotic and things adapt to their surroundings, there is no direction or plan, if you believe in god that means you think he had something to do with it, which contradicts science.

  • I believe God's power is, among other things, to create the universe and its scientific laws. I don't follow why that contradicts science.

  • So your theory of god is instead of the big bang, it was god, everything else is random and chaotic and god has zero control, zero power, zero effect on anything in today's world. basically you worship the big bang.

  • That's far from what I said. I believe God holds everything together, powers everything, is behind everything. Call it control or lack of control, I don't think either idea quite applies.

If you want to understand something of my general perspective, you could read the Bhagavad Gita. I think it's an excellent story on the nature of the universe.

  • So with your logic God is responsible for war, murder, rape, Hitler, Bush, Corporate run America.

So is that some one to worship?

    Please.......

  • God is a very complicated concept for something more complex and subtle than we know. Did God create the potential for all those things to happen, for us to make those choices, as well as the potential for nice things and choices? I certainly believe that. Is it worth it? Should we trust or reject God? Those are individual questions and clearly we all have the freedom to choose our own answers.

  • No God is not complex. Life is. God is a creation for the unexplainable like I said before. Whether you admit so or not that is the reason you believe in something that has never been proven to exist. Who's only existence is known through a book that has been been translated more times then can be counted.

My father's reasons for believing whether he admits it or not is there are too many unexplainable things in the world so they use God to explain them. History has shown this.

  • So, you are choosing to believe the only reason anyone believes in God is from one book? Do you realize how much spiritual scripture there is in the world?

And you are choosing to believe none of us have any other proof, or that we all believe for the same reason as your dad? That's your choice, but I don't see the rationality of it.

  • No you have no physical proof.

Here let me put it this way. You believe in something that has never shown its face on earth. Never proven to be in the sky watching.

Would you believe the drunk on the street corner who proclaims to be God?

  • I do not see the rationality of believing in something that has never been proven to exist.

I do not see the rationality of worshiping something like that.

  • Why follow a murderous fuck up?

  • So you feel this world was a mistake?

  • Did I say that? No.

I said your God if he exists is a fuck up.

Look at what is going on. Look at the people on this planet. Look at the bigots, the murderers, rapists, child molesters, thieves, etc etc.

  • You keep telling me what I believe, why I believe it, what my logic is, and what proof I don't have - regardless of what I tell you.

Why bother then? Are you trying to reshape reality?

It's so ironic. You think your anger and rejection is against the imaginary, but I think it's against reality.

  • Comment removed

  • Hahah what reality? You honestly 100% know that god exists. Where is the proof?

I'm in tune with reality buddy.

I question things. I do not believe what is told that has no proof.

You did not answer my question of would you believe the drunk on the corner

  • You do not have proof. Your proof is based on faith. Faith is not logical proof. If that were the case then there would be no need for evidence in court cases.

  • I do not see how he is trying to reshape reality. You are saying God exists because you felt it. Which means you believe 100% that God exists.

That is not reality what reality is there is no 100% proof going either way.

So him saying you have no proof is 100% on.

Also his question of if you would believe a drunk on the corner who says he is God is a great question.

I believe religion is used as a fear tactic and was also created to answer the unanswered.

  • I keep answering his questions and he keeps telling me I believe something else. Read the conversation. He isn't looking for answers, he's looking for weaknesses. He doesn't want understanding.

He wants to rail against who he wants me to be, not who I am. I never tried to convince him or anyone of God. I pointed out why I believe and tried to answer his hostility with sincerity.

  • It seems you are doing what you accuse him of doing. Assuming.

You didn't answer his drunk proclaiming too be God question.

I could care less if people believe or not. But I can not stand when people preach it onto others.

In all honesty no matter what you believe it is based on faith. You say you feel God but how do you know that is God? I just think something like that is really silly.

  • And what did I assume? He is telling me I believe things right after I told him, no, that's not what I believe.

This drunk question is a good question? What a waste of time.

Wait a minute - you could not care less if people believe or not, but you can't stand when they preach? And yet you back this guy preaching on me about what my belief is and how wrong it is, and you want to tell me my belief is really silly. You've just contradicted yourself several times, haven't you?

  • I do not care if you believe in God. But proclaiming you know 100% that there is one is silly. There is a difference. I can not stand religious people preaching. There is no valuable proof to back up such a claim.

    I have not contradicted myself.

How is it a waste of time?

It is a very good question. You are choosing not too answer it for some reason and it is not because it is a waste of time. If that was the case you would not have been responding to every comment too you.

  • Oh, well, now you've said you can't stand religious people preaching. That's a different statement. If that's really your belief, that's not a contradiction. I do think it's hypocritical and essentially dishonest.

I have been responding to questions I think are good questions. Would I believe a bum who says he is God is not a good question. That's about the most polite way I can put it.

I also have not been responding to every comment, not even every post, but they are getting inane.

  • It is a good question you just are not answering it.

It is not hypocritical. I am not preaching. I am stating my beliefs not forcing them on you. That is what I mean by preaching.

You are just avoiding the question.

  • You've got to be kidding me. If you didn't gather my answer from that...

And I didn't force my beliefs on anyone.

  • Did I say you forced your beliefs on anyone? No I did not. Stop trying to make everyone seem like the bad guy bro.

The only thing I gather is you will not answer it. That is all because you did not answer it.

  • Yes, in fact, you did say that.

You said I was preaching, twice, and that you can't stand preaching. And when I said that's hypocritical, you said no it's not because you define preaching as forcing one's ideas on another, and that you weren't doing that.

I love to discuss philosophical matters with thinking people. It's pointless to discuss things with people who dodge around their own language and definitions in an effort to win some sad little ego game. You win, congrats.

  • You sound like an idiot right now

  • If youre going to comment on another conversation read the whole thing GiantRobot isnt preaching to anyone he actually at the start said he didnt want to engage him

  • I never said he was preaching maybe if you read my whole conversation instead of butting in and not reading the whole thing you would see that.

  • You never directly said it but you implied it twice, in fact the implication is so easy to infer because we're (me and TGR) are giving you the benefit of the doubt, assuming you're not an idiot. Because if you weren't implying it, then you were being redundant - which is what retards do.

  • You sound ignorant the definition of creationism is not the EVERYTHING HAS A CREATOR it is that the universe in which we live was created by a deity. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop creating strawman

  • I was just using a christian argument that said everything has a creator because it exists. They say that a painting must have a painter, a building must have a builder, so I was merely pointing out that for that logic to be sound god must also have someone or something that created him.

  • What you just said made no sense. First of all YES you did say creationism, more than once. And then misstated what creationism is, you did not bring up Christianity specifically in correlation to creationism. Not only that but regardless of said statement, Christians don't believe everything has a creation, they believe A CREATOR WITH NO CREATOR. Any Christian stating that "painting painter" argument is irrelevant. Furthermore, no one hear said they're Christian so I don't get the point.

  • Thats how I was as a child - no one told me about God I told myself really - then again I was told about Santa and believed it EASY no question so who knows

  • Haha, thanks... I think :)

  • I normally don't comment but you're guy's conversation caught my eye and this is just funny reading it. They're completely ignoring what you're saying and labeling you as some kind of priest. I'm not religious myself but I have "felt" some kind of spiritual something I think everyone has and atheist just ignore it

  • Thanks, I appreciate that.

Yeah, so many people I've talked with who aren't religious have had really cool "spiritual" experiences. Mostly atheists don't want to talk about those. That's cool, I can understand why.

  • Umm.. Atheists try to understand not ignore. You don't understand anything by labeling it supernatural. I could just as easily claim that my "spiritual" experiences are because of invisible gnomes (and in some other cultures this might be the claim) but with absolutely no evidence or reason to believe such a thing all you have is blind faith. I would rather know the truth than make stuff up.

  • This

  • I'm not in a religion, however, I don't care if someone is, as long as they don't preach. As to my theism, I've had enough "experiences" to solidify my belief in "something." It's a vague understanding, but nevertheless an understanding. I could recount instances where I felt it but I feel it would fall upon deaf ears with you lot. And I'm okay with that, however, it seems that YOU'RE not, you preach anti-gospel.

  • But if you can understand so much, how did my mother, sister and I sense my grandfather passing? He lived over 3,500 miles away in Trinidad, and we had no way of knowing, except we felt something and we all just knew. The next day my uncle calls and says my GP died yesterday. There have been many instances like this in my life, I don't try to understand them i just accept them. But go ahead explain it to me scientifically.

  • You know how many times I have felt some type of feeling like that? I just do not use God as answer for something that is not explainable. I accept that it was just a feeling that was something was wrong. It has nothing to do with spirituality IMO.

Again you can not prove God exists just like science can not prove or disprove his existence.

  • You don't equate losing a loved one and sensing it with out being told as being spiritual... just something unexplainable

Anyone reading that see an almost purpseful atempt to AVOID spirtuaily.

And btw thats not some foreboding feeling when three people all sense a loved one dieing miles away - and not calling that spirituality makes no sense

  • Exactly. I do not see that as being spiritual.

It makes perfect sense too say it is not.

You said you had a feeling that your loved one died. All 3 had that feeling.

Again I have had the same feeling and do not call it spiritual.

You are assuming I am trying to avoid it. I am not I do not believe that B/S.

You clearly are a preachy fuck.

  • The only thing I was ever convinced was supernatural was an experience I had where I thought I was being attacked by a mystical force turns out it was just sleep paralysis

Without prior knowledge all I could do was fabricate a reason in my mind for what was happening

Add to fact that i was brought up a Baptist I never had a chance to apply sound judgment to the phenomenon

This is part of why religions come into being and how they maintain their sway: Falsely attributing things to the mystical

  • Read my responses to siloria

  • Typical bullshit response too some one saying Atheist just ingore it.

No in fact I do not believe what you believe in because of lack of proof. Nothing more nothing less.

I never labeled him as a priest now you are just twisting my words around and are reaching.

You talk about ignoring and you have completely ignored what I have said labeling me as an atheist who is ignoring something that we do not believe in for lack of proof.

That is where you and Robot are showing your ignorance.

  • Read my response to siloria.

  • Cenk can you please tell us your thoughts on Elizabeth Lambert! thanks!

  • Fear of having poor health and dying of an illness.

  • I agree with that...I just find it rediculous that the lady was using "fear" as a reason as to why we should not have health care. If she is so afraid of it, why does she not try to find a way to pay for it?
