Text book arrest and restraint of a resisting person against whom a complaint had been made. It makes no difference if the complaint was proven to be false later. The officers acted lawfully and correctly at the time. They could have done a lot worse to him. Who cares that they might have had previous investigations into their actions? There was excesive force. He tried to pull away. They had to take him down. Once they did he was cuffed and the use of force stopped. He was assisted to a standing position and was escorted outside. The girl clearly assaulted him by grabbing at him while he was backed in a corner. 2nd the police should had ascertained as much information as they could before making an arrest. Text book arrest and restraint of a resisting person against whom a complaint had been made. It makes no difference if the complaint was proven to be false later. The officers acted lawfully and correctly at the time. They could have done a lot worse to him. Who cares that they might have had previous investigations into their actions? Show me a cop who has no complaints against him and I'll show you a lazy cop who doesn't do his job.

There was excesive force. He tried to pull away. They had to take him down. Once they did he was cuffed and the use of force stopped. He was assisted to a standing position and was escorted outside. And it looks like while being escorted outside he lundges at one of the officers. Not bad for having a broke. Neck. He'd be in major pain.

wow... the cops grabbed the guy for taking a girls cell phone and didnt even bother talking 2 seconds to talk to him and convince him to give it back... Now, if the manager was an overweight white guy with glasses, this situation would have gone a lot differently, but since its a black man, there was no second thought about it... its like a natural reaction for all police officers, you see a black guy, throw him to the ground and arrest him...

(resisting arrest) That is a cops excuse to use any force they want. I was charged with that during a "Traffic Stop" and I won the case but I had to plead no contest to disturbing the peace instead. I was abused by the police several times and the excuse is... resisting arrest. My issue is... I didnt get a ticket, I didnt violate any laws... so how am I resisting arrest? it was caught on tape and the tape was edited during the trial..

I did win the case I didnt go to jail. anytime you have your freedom u win. its was a rasist jury and only 2 blacks and you could guess how many not guilty I had... if you said 2 you were correct. The girl told the police he stabbed her in the wrist. She actually hurt herself jamming her hand into his pocket, stabbing herself with a ballpoint pen. She assaulted him, over and over, she lied. The cops used force not necessary to affect an arrest. If you see it any other way, your retarded.

Doesn't matter what the two were saying or arguing about. The girl clearly assaulted him by grabbing at him while he was backed in a corner. 2nd the police should had ascertained as much information as they could before making an arrest. The young man clearly did not show any aggression or resistance from the police as they already had his hands behind his back. The police over reacted and did use more force then necessary. Its not what transpired before police, its what happened after.

This video doesn't show excessive force it shows a young man throw his hip outward to get the police away from him then get taken down anyway as the oficers were not caught of gaurd. he struggled they got him down and from the looks of it noone was hurt.

Only problem I have is why didn't they seperate both parties out of earshot from each other. The manager is CLEARLY the aggressor. Just do what the officers ask you to do and you will not have a problem out of them. What a concept.

Just because you are clearly innocent and completely cooperate with the police doesn't mean you will not have a problem or even get falsely arrested. Most Police will arrest you just to prove a point or keep themselves protected from getting sued for making a mistake. There are many cases to prove this fact. I used to think the same as you until I learned the hard way it is not true.

Do what the officers ask and you won't have a problem with them. Don't know what happened to you and if you were wrongfuly arrested, I hope you addressed it legally or with the officer's Department however, what happened to you (and we haven't heard the officers version) is an aberation.

And having shown the video to the sheriff deputies at my job, they couldn't believe that much force was used. If you take the time to read the news article, nothing is said about spitting. From what is mentioned about the officers' reports, Salis was taken down for basically using profane language. Hell, read the article. If his neck wasn't broken, something was wrong. He had surgery. He is a USAF Sgt. moonlighting at Mickey D's.
