  • Like a fucking machine yeah!!!!

  • 三味線みたい

  • I repeat my old comment: Koyunbaba is a piece that lends itself to a lot of freedom interpretativa.Ma, honestly, this version of "ultra super prestissimo" I do not like. Personal taste, no doubt.

Do not like it because it take me more than listening to the music inherent in the story leads me to see the technicality of the performer. My compliments to him. But I prefer to think that in the end, the protagonist should rest with the music, not the performer.

  • I wonder which music is an indication of the speed of a horse running free is no sense

  • There is no way you can understand and feel this music...so do what you are best....play it like a robot.

  • I think the video is a fake, is speeded up ... anyway if it was real, it's a very bad performance, where the extreme speed kills feelings and virtuosity that the piece wants to communicate...

  • @analby9000 its real and yes he just plays it 2 fast

  • @analby9000 Its not a fake. If it was sped up the pitch would be much higher than it naturally is. In this case, its right on pitch. This guy is just nuts. But I do agree with you on the speed. What kills me in the sextupelets on the harmonics in one of the later sections. His rhythm is totally of. The notes on the fourth string should occur on the off beat, but its to fast for him to do that.

  • このDVDは自分も買いましたが、

    今思うとこのコユンババは木村大のテクニックを見せる動画ですね

    曲作りとしては皆さん言ってるように、スピード違反ですw

  • the shadow after 2:57 is funny :d. i thought it was someone coming out of the floor.

  • Ok.He can do it...I don't know how.But i know way.Because he can do it...and maybe because he is young.

  • Very unique version, I like this.

  • disgusting

  • Poor little Japanese robot...maybe this will help you understand the music you are trying to play: watch?v=-AuTDKjfdyc

He does not play it fast, he does mistakes, but he is perfect...

You play fast, you make no errors...yet your music is perfectly wrong. It's so sad...

  • guitar masturbation!

  • WAYYYYYYYY TOO FAST

  • f my previous comment I stated that I do not like it at all because of excessive speed, are just happy now to see that many others think like me

  • ma che stai suonando Thunderstruck degli ac/dc? Mettici un pò d'animo, il pezzo non va completamente suonato così.

  • why the hell does it have to be so fast? ...he's got no dynamics or emotion; totally destroyed the song.

  • too fast.... but good execution

  • Too fast. This is a presto piece, not prestissimo. This guy is playing at about 250 BPM, which is well outside the range of presto. Too much speed is like too much seasoning: it ruins the flavor.

  • @liamstoaster yeesh. looks more like he's playing at about 250 MPH :P

  • great musician !!

  • AMAAAAAAAAAAAZING!!!

  • I play it at normal speed but I seem to like this alot to still beautiful well done ! pay no attention to the bad comments

  • that opening is incredibly intense. Great contrast with the slow expressive section.

  • Exilent.

  • dude..

    shut up and listen!

  • yes he uploaded it wrong.. look at what the wind does to his shirt.. that's not natural (at 0:57)

  • awesome speed!

  • Either he's playing this too fast or the video uploaded wrong.

  • crap

  • you guys should stfu. this is supposed to be fast... and he's not making any mistakes.

  • Not this fast though. What I'm hearing are sections where he's actually playing to fast for his guitar and notes are lost with vastly diminished volume.

Faster is not always better. And he's got the speed to prove it.

Note how much better he sounds when he pays attention to the quality of the notes after 2:57. He can really make the guitar sing.

I've heard other stuff of his that is also too fast and the quick sections are almost always badly deflated.

    Speed gained is intensity lost.

  • hahahhh

  • the secret to building tension isn't in the notes you play, but the way you work the spaces between the notes you play.

Yeah, he's very, very good and very, very fast, but I agree with the others that it loses the tension that makes the koyunbaba truly epic.

  • more work? you should probably castrate yourself. thats all i can say i mean i understand what your saying but if someone isnt impressed by this 13 year old kid then....wtf

  • chińczycy to jednak mają nasrane....

  • non mi piace per nulla l'interpretazione.sembra stia scappando ,tanto va veloce.

La musica non è una corsa su pista dove chi va più veloce è più bravo

  • The sad fact today is that many of the younger

generation of classical guitarists are way too

concerned with speed. Can I play as fast as this

guy? NO! Would I want to? NO! There's a point

where the music ends & the technical side show

    begins.Blinding Speed is really unimportant.

  • lol

  • very, very, very good

  • This guy is playing this way too fast and his

right hand is so full of tension it's going

to catch up with him in the long run.Ouch!

  • You mean him?

  • Great speed but tecnique it's not only speed..too fast .

  • Well it's supposed to be fast.

    I like it this way.

  • so fast..very fast...wats the hurry..

  • yeah, its too fast...

  • lol

  • nope. this video hasnt been sped up. ive seen the live version of kimura dai's koyunbaba. and he was amazing. just like in this video. :P

  • Really Really good piece of music, So fast though I am sure its not to everyones taste, but I loved it, the tempo gets your heart racing, fantastic skill and fingers from the demon of speed himself, but seriously, whats with the chair and bricks?

  • i have the same chair, its the best

  • persian music..the origine

  • We have a god damn robot here! Really, his right hand is amazing, I doubt if there are people who can play this as fast as he does. But as people has commented before, it's too fast. I mean, it's not of a good taste to play something too fast, as it's not to play too slow either. But, everyony decides that for themselves and who am I to judge :D I think we'll hear of him in the future, as he gains age and experience. PS. Asians rock!

  • Gonna get yourself a stroke there son.

  • keep a god damn tempo asshole.

  • He plays a Smallman like that of John Williams!

  • oh god.. this is appalling. the whole thing with him playing this at light speed combined with the panning angles and the wind blowing his hair while he looks away from the guitar for some of the hardest parts just makes this an epic exercise in ego and nothing else. while i definitely respect technicality, my respect for being able to play a song with passion and respect greatly outweighs it. the lack of dynamics make this a simple technique exercise, not the moving story it should be.

  • Eh, I feel as if he played this piece beyond a respectable speed; it's too fast. The melody gets lost in an, IMO, unbalanced volume between all the strings. At that speed, he can't control the strings as well as the piece deserves.

  • Amazing musicality. Well played!

  • this guy rocks

  • i Know that was classical, but that sounded metal as hell ROCK ON!!!!!

  • His guitar sounds good though... A Yamaha Grand Concert I believe.

  • this song is not anywhere near as hard as you think. this song has the same effect that El Colibri has. It's not all that hard. and honestly, i tend to lose respect for songs like this.

props to his right hand technique though

  • I don't want to sound like I'm jealous because I can't play as good as him, or because he happens to be asian, but to me, he's playing that wayy too fast.

  • yep, fast, sloppy, and no feelings...

  • damn thats fast lol

  • too fast

  • Should have been "presto" not "prestissimo"...

  • DUH! ... fellows!!

Presto is the musical term for FAST !!

  • it's true. I play it too :)

  • Too fast. Theres no emotion at all. Good job faggy

  • oops... wrong artist. Guess I handed out a freebie there

  • I would recommend everyone to listen to Antigoni Goni (GFA winner in '95 ).

On her debute album, produced by Norbert Kraft, she sets the standard of this piece in my opinion ...

  • your skill is impressive and i appreciate that. but you played it waaaaay to fast in some parts. in othr parts, you slowed down. it was inconsistent when put together

  • amazing

  • you all forget what music is all about, its about expression and if this is his way of expressing himslef then so beit who are any of you to say that its wrong?? you get so caught up in technicality that its no longer fun and you want to impose your beliefs on everyone else... its an artform!!!! Art is not to be limited to anything!

  • and so maniac, why don't you play koynbaba?

i would see your great technique...

  • this is just a bunch of show.. do you even know what "koyunbaba" is?

you are playing without a metronome and feeling.. tempo changes so much during the musical sentence.. too much parasites. sorry but your legato technique is not that good..

you are hitting the 4th string so strong that it keeps humming and the musical sentence (the soprano party) cannot be heard..

please explain us something.. say "you must play this song like this, because bla bla...."

  • great!

  • wow...got many ppl jealous at here...hahahaha....dont be jealous wif kimura.btw he more good than all of u...hahahahaha

  • Stop trying to show off how quick you can play certain parts because you only slow down in other parts and that makes you sound inconsistent, sloppy, and that your not keeping the same time signature. This is not how the piece was meant to be played.

  • Yes, I agree. Never mind the context, it's just too damned fast.

  • I admire the technique and speed .. but i dont get that feeling koyunbaba is supposed to convey .. but maybe i am all wrong

  • This is the fourth movement of the Koyunbaba Suite. Listen to the whole thing by Li Jie or Fabjan2007 and you will get it just fine. It's somewhat out of context by itself.

  • hakkatten hissiz caliyosun anlamazssin ki

  • thank you

  • watch his other video

  • The one from li jie is better

  • he sounds like hes playing the easy fast bits as fast as he can then slowing down when it gets to the hart bits, cant beat li jies version, frikken wonder woman!!

  • This version totally sucks. He doesn´t even mantain the tempo. He completly ruins this piece.

  • too fast but like it cause play it soft. this guy musta some winner of competition. duet with Andrew York too

  • He won the Tokyo International Guitar Competition, definitely one of the top competitions out there, at the age of 14.

This clip appears to be from a DVD in his relatively early years of professional playing (18 or 19).

Apparently Andrew York knew him when Dai was 13 or so, and was already highly impressed at the time. He went on to dedicate a couple of songs (including the "Moontan") for him.

  • WOW! wish i could play it that fast! great video editing too!

  • it is presto, not prestissimo

  • "presto" doesn´t mean kill yourself... too fast i don´t like it

  • A great example of someone who thinks speed is everything, and ruins a great piece of music in the process.

The bits he plays fast are in fact relatively easy to play fast - it's when he arrives at the harder parts that his weaknesses stand out because he has to keep slowing down, making the whole performance a disjointed and unattractive mess.

Speed is NOT king Dai - if all you're interested in is trying to impress by playing notes as fast as possible, buy a Strat and take up tapping.

  • Presto means fast, I gather he wanted to play as fast as he was able to. Why did you feel you had to jump in and give your UNSOLICITED depreciating opinion? NO ONE HAS ASKED FOR IT. Go make your own cilp you 52y.o. chap and then upload it. I feel like your admirers must have died, else if you were a sought guitar teacher you wouldn't come on youtube to criticize. Just like the fox who fails to reach the grapes up on a vine, retreats and says they are sour! You grew old in vain.

  • 'Unsolicited' opinion? But aren't all comments on YouTube unsolicited..? My opinion - your opinion - they're both valid. I don't like his style - you do. Fair enough. Surely you're big enough to accept that without throwing a tantrum?

  • And on top of that you're even being sarcastic with him at the end you sick moron. I have heard better versions of presto but since someone opens up to morons he does not know and uploads his own version good or bad that does not put me in a position to judge. You don't like it - you are free to move on. Be sure that he has a guitar teacher, or maybe a few, who are no match for you and will show him how to improve. You - you are just like a dog barking at the moon in the dead of night...

  • "But yeah, he must have drunk alot of coffee!" - Dead on, that's exactly what I get out of this.

  • too fast....i would say...i´ve seen domeniconi live and he didn´t play it so fast.

  • I'm pretty sure he gets it, with those skills he'd most likely be able to play it the way it should sound. Its different otherwise we'd be having nothing but videos of ppl playing the same stuff :P

  • cosvan akıllı ol oglum (ya da kızım) adam Japon, Japon..

  • I dont like his play. He don't keep the same tempo everywhere. Easier places he's playing faster and harder slower :)

  • this is beautiful, I am moved

  • he's amazing

  • he is a big fan of yngwie j malmsteen

    he like fast.

  • Whoa people, relax! This Dai Kimura is an excellent guitarist and, regardless of weather you agree with him or not, he decided to play this movement at a faster tempo than most do. At least he is trying to put some personality into his interpretation. I have the complete recording of Barrios and he definately had some extremely questionable interpretations, but that did not diminish his skill as an instrumentalist. Remember the old adage; "There is no accounting for taste"

  • he can't even keep up with his own tempo in some places, let alone playing at an awful tempo.nice way to kill a piece.

  • God, this is boring. If I had the technical skill of this boy, I could make awesome music. I don't, and I won't, but it all seems wasted. Might as well be played by a computer.

  • por favor pasame la partitura amigo ens erio te loagradeceria un millon mi correoes paganinikev@hotmail ahh simplemente ESPECTACULAR AMAZING

  • some of you guys don't feel this song, you don't know what it's about ... well ... this is the right tempo, it's a dramatic song, not a ballad, LoL ... good going boy, keep it up ... oh, almost forgot ... well I am a huge fan of rock, but this doesn't mean only rock is cool, what's nice to your ears is good, different people, different ears ... so keep it for yourself

  • Saptezeci - ai dreptate. He is also a little on the fast side, okay. But by reading herrkaleun2's dry dissertation, I believe most of the jack&harrys who come here giving free and unsolicited advice would not even match half of this player's achievements. Let us see your performance herrkaleun2 before you start telling us about domeniconi, tempos and interpretations, or else your critique is pretentious and absurd.

  • Cool is overrated.

  • some kind of godlike :-)

  • is not like that. and the tempo is too bad.

  • For this I like the asian style of drill

  • way too fast..

  • i would really like to compare the losses for the gains.

  • I second this motion.

  • it's not beautiful with this tempo - -'

  • Sounds like 3 guitars are playing

  • Fast...

  • I couldn't agree more!

Every piece in his CD is played like this.

He just want to show off his technique.

It's too dull to listen to and never makes me want to open the CD case again.

  • He is generally boring in my opinion.

  • Kimura rules, but this piece is boring.

  • there is another version of aniello desiderio.

    that rox...

  • That was some of the best classical guitar I've ever seen. Simply amazing. I'll definately check out the web site.

  • not kuyunbaba

    its k o yunbaba

  • i think he is 17 in this. am i right?

  • Thank you for the comment.

I think that he was 17 years old at this time.

However, he is 24 years old now.

    Please look at his homepage.
