I'm the one who composed this variation. (I have a video of it playing natively in its musical composition software on my channel).
It uses chrono cross samples. I shifted the key up a semi-tone so the CT song could connect with the CC song, but if you listen carefully in the CT bit, I included bits and pieces from the CC song.
You're right that it won't work as a 16-bit spc700 (snes) song, it was more designed to sound like a ps1 song.

All of you say this is an amazing game and was wrongfully canceled, and while it did have amazing music and funny dialogue, the overall plot was filled to the brim with so many cliches that it's no wonder it was canceled. To name a few:

Bad guy turns good in the end
Bad guy + good guys fight a god like power far more evil
Bad guy dresses in the overused cape and has demon-like complexion

RPGs back in the golden years were about creating a compelling story. Back in the day, it was the platformers and shooters were about advancing gameplay mechanics and pushing the limitations of the consoles, and their main draw was straight up fun and difficulty. Nowadays, the FPS games seem to put more attention into the story of their games than the RPGs do, while RPGs put so much emphasis on graphics that the story suffers... and the gameplay mechanics haven't changed much since yesteryear.

1:34 is when "Life ~ a faraway promise" from the Chrono Cross OST starts. Both games had a great score. It's really a shame Square didn't allow to make this remake.
rpgs use to be a storytelling art form now it's all comes down to who has the flashier cut scenes. I miss the days when what impressed you was how a story to take simply make u want to know what happends next because ur honestly invested into whats going on in that world and not see the next pretty thing on screen

I play them for the story, the visuals don't hurt the quality of gameplay, however (sometimes the Cut-scenes are a little invasive, but that usually doesn't take away from the game part of the game.) Many new games have an immense amount of cut-scenes, but there are still many publishers that have the classic flair; even on the newest systems.
Yeah, Atlus probably does make the most OG new games; my fav. company.
I received my NES on Sunday, March 30, 1986 and my favorite games for that were RPGs, but I love many others. Ultima: Exodus, Wizardry, Bard's Tale, Dragon Warrior, and many more. Some of my non-RPG favorites are Phantom Fighter, Double Dragon, Contra, Lifeforce, Gradius, and more and more. My favorite for the NES is Final Fantasy, but having played Final Fantasy II in recent years, that would have been my favorite, had it been released on the US NES. I still play MUDs now and then, too.

@bossupratt I recommend getting a hold of Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii. I had to import a copy to the US from the UK, and I am able to play it on my modified Wii. It is quickly becoming my favorite JRPG of all time, due in large part to the fantastic storyline and compelling characters that make you care about what happens. The dynamic between them is solid and believable, the story progresses without being preachy or heavy-handed, and the other game elements are amazing (combat, music, etc)

Masato Kato wanted a sequel, but not a sequel that is a continuation. Although there were some issues with conveying the plot (finding out Lynx is your dad at the END), Cross was great.

Kato messed up there, he didn't take into consideration that many people like Schala and would rather not see her look like a 5 year old with blond hair.

All of you say this is an amazing game and was wrongfully canceled, and while it did have amazing music and funny dialogue, the overall plot was filled to the brim with so many cliches that it's no wonder it was canceled. To name a few:
Heroine is revealed to be a princess
Bad guy turns good in the end
Bad guy + good guys fight a god like power far more evil
Bad guy dresses in the overused cape and has demon-like complexion
I disagree with Squenix's decision, but I see why.

RPGs back in the golden years were about creating a compelling story. Back in the day, it was the platformers and shooters were about advancing gameplay mechanics and pushing the limitations of the consoles, and their main draw was straight up fun and difficulty. Nowadays, the FPS games seem to put more attention into the story of their games than the RPGs do, while RPGs put so much emphasis on graphics that the story suffers... and the gameplay mechanics haven't changed much since yesteryear.

I play them for the story, the visuals don't hurt the quality of gameplay, however (sometimes the Cut-scenes are a little invasive, but that usually doesn't take away from the game part of the game.) Many new games have an immense amount of cut-scenes, but there are still many publishers that have the classic flair; even on the newest systems.
Yeah, Atlus probably does make the most OG new games; my fav. company.

I received my NES on Sunday, March 30, 1986 and my favorite games for that were RPGs, but I love many others. Ultima: Exodus, Wizardry, Bard's Tale, Dragon Warrior, and many more. Some of my non-RPG favorites are Phantom Fighter, Double Dragon, Contra, Lifeforce, Gradius, and more and more. My favorite for the NES is Final Fantasy, but having played Final Fantasy II in recent years, that would have been my favorite, had it been released on the US NES. I still play MUDs now and then, too.

The Walmart that was 45 minutes away, where I bought it, only had 2 copies in total; I was sick longer for that one.

@bossupratt I recommend getting a hold of Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii. I had to import a copy to the US from the UK, and I am able to play it on my modified Wii. It is quickly becoming my favorite JRPG of all time, due in large part to the fantastic storyline and compelling characters that make you care about what happens. The dynamic between them is solid and believable, the story progresses without being preachy or heavy-handed, and the other game elements are amazing (combat, music, etc)

Chrono Cross was in no way a murder scene, the beginning was really fun. There's a reason why it's called Chrono CROSS, and not Chrono Trigger 2. Masato Kato wanted a sequel, but not a sequel that is a continuation. Although there were some issues with conveying the plot (finding out Lynx is your dad at the END), Cross was great.

in the walkthrough i looked up it started with the main hero having a dream about kid being killed. chrono cross acctually is a sequel, beacuse at the end of chrono trigger lucca finds a baby under some bushes and then starts the orphanage, and schala was enslaved by lavos at her will at the end of chrono trigger at the secret final boss.

I don't think it was a graphical error that they had her have blond hair. Maybe they wanted Kid to be blond? Either way, it sucks that Schala was not as amazing as she was in CT. Kato messed up there, he didn't take into consideration that many people like Schala and would rather not see her look like a 5 year old with blond hair.

@philonetic Yeah that's why I'm a Mass Effect / Lost Odyssey fan instead of a Final Fantasy fan. Final Fantasy went down hill quick after 8; and Chrono Cross was a huge disapointment for me.
Lost Odyssey needs a sequel.
Mass Effect 3 is coming soon.
And Legend of Dragon / Legend of Legaia both need proper sequels (one has one but it sucked).
