just finished harvest season here. I had plans to bring a small camp stove with me but since there was a open fire ban in this county, I ended up using engine heat to 'cook' A heat to eat can of soup or beef stew against the tractor engine block took less than 30 minutes to heat to eating temperature. I found that water in those stainless steel canisters will heat to just under boiling temps and will make tea or coffee just fine.
I've had several different Mountain House meals, including the blueberry cheesecake, and I've haven't found on e i haven't liked. If you buy the #10 cans, they claim a 30 year shelf life. The problem with Mountain House is that it's getting a little hard to find. It seems FEMA has a $1 billion contract with them.
It would taste much better in the bush :o) I personally haven't tried those meals though. I found Mountain House to be much better But as everyone knows I'm not very fussy either...haha! Good testing :o)
Good info, thanks for sharing. I did a video called "Food Purchase" and it's about reconstituted mashed potatoes from wally world that only cost $0.98 a bag. Like those potatoes it needs more water than recommended too. Take Care :-))
When I was a trucker I had 12V frige I filled it with $1 TV dinners that fit in my 12V Burton Pizza oven. I also carried 1/2 G of milk and some cereal sometimes I ate that before bed. I tried to travel W/O frige and I lost money. IF you are a real trucker you will be prepared for being stranded somewhere I have had to shower out the side door many times bc we are the disaster response teams ALL the time. We keep civilization civilized so they can look down their nose at us. I produced a video.
@cdltpx My husband used to be an over-the-road driver and I have heard many stories from him about ways to keep moving and how to be prepared. You guys have a tough job, I doubt I could do it.
@BushcraftWife I wish I had a tough job I am awaiting disability after the last tornado flipped my truck and broke my back. I have not gotten a check for over a year can you imagine that I have saved JB Hunt literally millions upon millions of dollars AIG did all they could to get me to hire Dr. Koviorkian. I use to have my wife save the laundyry soap bottles they made perfect restrooms. Be honest this is a tougher job than working I never worried like I do now my wife tells me to be cool.
Fresh Fruits? I have been eating $1 tv dinners I walk into wally world get a dinner spread butter on 4 slices of bread shake some garlic powder on the bread and eat well. Take your vitamins and eat fresh fish when you catch them. There are mashed potatoes grits oatmeal trail mix potted meat sandwiches pop tarts energy bars canned goods. A good key to good camping is how well you save packets of condiments you get from meals I save every packet and I go to them first don't let them sit forever.
Nice vid liked how you showed us the food thanks

great video. I've always been a fan of mountain house foods but think I'll give those a try as they are less expensive. Thanks for sharing.
