  • Terrible years for GM! I could see why their market share fell from around 50% to 35%. Thank you Roger Smith for allowing space age digital crap and noises. That shifter is priceless. Did GM have a pink interior option?

  • wonderful car

  • All your reviews are great! Thx 4 posting.

  • Looks like the 3000 S.U.X.

  • @Vsanto5 3800s are great engines. They were in production in one form or another from the late 70s to 2008!

  • what I don't understand is that the country which sent man to the moon 40 years ago, can make most powerful nuclear bombs....can make the space shuttle.all those fighter jets...the carriers with nuclear cores...that can run for 50 years..etc..all those things...and still build such crappy cars most of the time...like this piece of shit right here???!!!!!

  • the weirdest shifter i ever saw

  • thumbs up if you think the 3800 v6 was one of the best motors ever made

  • Must have a replacement starter?

  • All mine basically needs to be drivable now is the license plate. Hasn't had one on it for 9 Years :P

  • It's like a time capsule. Not bad for an old Oldsmobile, but the wheels seem to look way older than the car itself.

  • Oldsmobile Toronado needs the 5 speed manual transmission gearbox

  • мне понравилась эта машина, жалко в россии ее нету__((

  • needs gas

  • the engine on the 1986-1992 Oldsmobile Toronado

    Engine

    3.8 L Buick V6

    3.8 L Buick 3800 V6

  • Nice tour, hell I might get one. That's a nice car.

  • the transmission on the 1986-1992 Oldsmobile Toronado

    Transmission

    4-speed 4T60 4T60-E automatic

  • Damn, I've seen a lot of your reviews and this one is one of the best sounding stereos I've heard in them.

  • I'm going to buy one of these Toronados. I'm saving up for another, had an '88 that I wrecked :( but now i'm older and more responsible, so I think I'm ready for another one of these Muscle cars. :)

  • My First Car! What a flash back! For sale?

  • My First Car! What a flash back!

  • is that the original speakers? sounds great

  • hey kyle,big fan of all the vids,we have a 1963 jaguar mk 10 (jag 420 as its also known)and a 1964 jaguar mk 10,a 1967 cadillac sedan deville,1974 cadillac eldorado convertible,and a 1987 cadillac brougham

love all them like family lol

  • that shifter means it has an hydro 400 automatic.

  • @zanjani13 its a front wheel drive car. Chances are since it has a transverse mounted 3800 V6 that it has a 4T60 transaxle in it...

  • Old cars are amazing...

  • That's a pretty slick Olds for its age... Even though they were the same car as the Riviera and Eldorado, I loved the hide-away lights on the Olds - gives it more an "old school" look... Around here, never saw many Toro's, mostly Riv's and Eldorado's... Nice find there kyle!!

  • Great video!! Love Oldsmobile. Thanks for sharing this cool car with us. I know some people find the 80's and 90's pretty bland as far as car design go but I love them and think that some pretty cool stuff came out of that period. Makes me wish they were still making them like this today.

  • can you make of a Lexus ES250 90-91

  • I see what Oldsmobile did there....

    Toronado.... tornado siren-like chime....

    Clever.

    JUST KIDDING.

I like these older cars. That shifter is pretty awesome.

  • That is the first automatic shifter I've EVER seen that looked like THAT!

  • too bad it isnt a Trofeo Kyle.... look for one of those once

  • Dashboard setup is cool. I'm not for the 80's digital gauges but those don't look bad at all. Car is stylish...

  • i prefer this ringer then the GM BONG

  • So, does the entire rear light bar light up when you step on the brakes?

  • Old time!!!!

  • that shifter is wicked

  • Sweet Toronado, always one of my favorite coupes. Olds was my favorite GM brand =*-(

  • Now all you need to find is the 1992 Toronado Trofeo

  • Did you get this and the Reatta for your dealership?

  • Man that interior looks cool! The digital instruments, all those switches and the shifter make it look like you're sitting in a plane!

  • OMG that start up sound is annoying

  • @MrBjoey2010 for me its relaxing

  • Thanks so much for the birthday wishes, I just returned from a three/four day camp with my friends!

  • PRISTINE!!!!!!!!!

  • What was the song at 5:38 and can you do a tour of that red Dakota next to the olds. Thanks

  • Car idles at 0 rpm :P 5:09

  • I always though it was the Tornado...

  • Neat car! Never seen these. Thanks

  • What a weird chime or more like an alarm?!

  • this is a bulldozer

  • okay, but the front looks like a backside.

  • gm sticks those 3.8s in everything huh? i hear they are great engines

  • @xxnissansilviaxx The engine is bullet proof designed by buick in the early 60's. Skip any of these from 86-90, these were the first generation of this engine to be converted to Fuel Injection. When the 3800 Series 2 came out all of those electronic gremlins were supposedly resolved. Note that the Delco Head unit is not original to the car.

  • that is one hell of a gear shifter...

  • Breath Mints....BONUS!!!!

  • Did kyle just cum on 4:52 O.O

  • I would drive this over the Nissan Juke.

  • Nice Toronado man :)

  • What a weird name...

  • was this a trofeo? ( toronado model) or a lower version of it?, hell ive had both. and loved em

  • @ 5:20 Southern Fried Rock

  • this must be the first car with digtal speedo and taco meter

  • @Jonolau1 I didnt know this car came with tacos ;)

  • why it had honking sound inside the car...literally irritated me...hahaha but i love this vintage and it even produce in the same year i was born beautiful number of sweet 88'

  • Hey Kyle, great job. I had a thought, it would be interesting (in my opinion) if in one video you could explain the writing/numbers that the auction people put on the windshield/windows of the cars they have.

  • great car

  • ok car

  • It's simply amazing how you're oblivious to wasting so much gas in every single one of your videos.

  • Those seat belts are an epic fail. I mean horribly done.

  • why did oldsmobile ever shut down?

  • @ProgressionFilms

Oldsmobile wasn't selling enough cars so GM decided to cut them off, bad decision because I think Olds are great cars. Got an supercharged LSS myself, and I'm happy with this one

  • @ProgressionFilms GM was selling duplicated models by the mid-80s across the board, and most of the Olds and Buick crowd had moved to Mercury and Lincoln for full size cars when the 98, 88, LeSabre and Park Ave went FWD.... Most buyers for Oldsmobile wanted large "old school" cars like the Grand Marquis and Town Car, so GM lost a huge customer base. Olds never recovered, and the renaming of cars to Aurora and Intrigue pushed the older crowd farther away...

  • lol have you guys noticed that half of the cars that kyle has reviewed are almost out of gas!?! lol great vids though kyle:)

  • I really miss the days when cars were "simple" like this.

  • @execdyke91 actually this car is very high tech for the 80s. but i agree, cars used to feel homier back in the day. cars just don't have that feel anymore. I don't know, just guess i am too used to traditional american cars. gimme a plush, comfy, simple full sized american sedan anyday over these ricers and euro cars. first off, i'm not going any faster than 70, and the gadgets and gizmo's are a waste. plus, if it has a 3800 series, i'll take it! this car will last another 20 odd years.

  • @gajda1984 On point with what I'm thinking. =)

  • 0:21 thought i got a facebook message.

  • eek, that's horrid lol Lol, when he pushed the headlights on, half the dash moved, a sure sign of quality lol, wow, noisey engine :o(

  • Omg I hate GM so much. Ever since our Sedan DeVille days. We got our 89' Sedan Deville brand new and it died in 96'. THEN we got a 92' GMC Explorer conversion van and it died in 2000.. So then we got a 95' Sable and it lasted until 2002 when it was totaled. Lesson being, GM makes shitty vehicles.

  • It's a far cry from the original Toranados of the 1960 when it was introduced.

    Those were cars.

  • TORONADO?! THATS ONE OF THE WORLDS WORST CARS!!!

  • Was just eying a couple of these locally. Really neat cars.

  • This is an awesome car.

  • those snowflake wheels look good on just about any vehicle EXcept a pickup

  • interesting clutch

  • For anyone wondering what the price of this car was back in the day...the base MSRP for this car was around $20,600. I do like this car alot on here. Very good shape for the miles and age (23 years old). I love that shifter too! Very unique vehicle IMO. That stereo sounded quite impressive for a 1988 Delco factory stereo. I'd drive it!

  • Did you eat the mints in the center console ?

  • What happened to the steering wheel?

  • I like when you do older cars, takes me back, we cant forget what we have come from :p

  • the most depressing door chime i've ever heard

  • that gauge cluster looks sweete

  • i never seen one of these

  • YEAH, AN OLDSMOBILE!!!!

  • did it tell you good afternoon

  • 4 people don't like cars

  • @saabkyle04 Hey could you do more of the classic sedans please

  • This car looks like its from star trek

  • Those were so nice :)

  • I think the car is out of gas according to the gauge.

  • junk... the best american coupe of 80's is Caddy Fleetwood Brougham Coupe. It's a really hard to find car !

  • I want it!!!

  • Thanks Kyle! :)

  • @ionutzuuuu That is definitely not true lol, this car was in great shape for the mileage, I take it you haven't seen some of the junk piles I have had on here lol

  • @saabkyle04 and also the Honda Accord 1988 you reviewed looked worse than the Olds

  • @saabkyle04 Now, if you want to talk about the Wildfire, now THAT was a real pile of ISH......AND IT WAS ONLY AN '07!!!!

  • @saabkyle04 i guess he hasnt seen that two wheel car you did once! LOL THAT was a piece of junk

  • @saabkyle04

It is in great shape I agree and great video as always, but give this guy the benefit of the doubt. To me it looks like he isn't completely fluent in English and just doesn't like the styling of the car.

  • @saabkyle04 So true. I remember the videos that you did on that old junky Toyota Celica. That thing was disgusting! But, after you restored it, the difference was that of night and day!

  • @saabkyle04

This guy probably refers to car design

  • @ionutzuuuu lol search for the wagoneer on kyles channel.

  • @ionutzuuuu yeah not long ago he posted a honda accord lxi 2door in REAL BAD shape to stuff growing off the headrests this thing is beautiful. but it as always of a honda still started right up and sounded amazing..

    this olds is beautiful kyle

  • @ionutzuuuu Noooo, far from, actually. The '91 (or so) Toyota Celica or the 2009... whatever that tiny rust bucket was, was the worst condition car he's done.

  • do an audi, I dont think you have yet.

  • Better change that oil! Don't let the engine cease up!!!

  • Needs a rear spoiler to add to the look of the car. Now it just looks a bit dull.

  • looks like somethings leaking underneath the engine at 7:50

  • @letsgogiants98 1988 to 2011 thats all im going to say.......

  • Ok your videos are great but I'm not really interested in old cars so can you add some new cars in your videos!! That would be great!! Love ur channel!!! :))

  • 1632269 MILES??? WTF

  • Please tell me your not gonna video the Prius behind it. I think that would give my computer a virus. fo realz

  • This is probably the best looking Toronado I've ever seen. I love the colour, metallic blue. I love the digital display centre. How about taking it for a drive?

  • did anyone else see the guy in the background opening the hood of that P.T Cruiser if he's expecting something special he's out of luck

  • sweet car

  • Kyle, could you possibly get a tour of the new 2011 Scion TC? Thanks!!!

  • Good choice after the recent review on the Buick Reatta, its twin for comparison purposes, specially because both models are rare birds even in their time, let alone now. These were exclusive, and rather expensive luxury coupes then, but like all glory, it's faded in time. Still, what we can say, that they aged well, and thank to their tried-and-true GM drivetrain underneath, they can still serve for inexpensive regular service for people in tight circumstance.

  • @wotan20 You're so right man, getting a look at these older cars are a glimpse into history, where else can you find detailed looks at these cars haha, that's what I'm here for :)

  • @saabkyle04 i wonder if thisplatform was shared by the buick riviera of the same age?, htey look almsot similar. , love the late 80's gm stuff

  • @wotan20 Nice post, but I do have a slight problem with it. Who says that those cars, or any car really, is just for people in tight circumstance? Who says that someone who's not in tight circumstance might just happen to like the 1988 Toronado? I drive a 1989 Ford Thunderbird not because I have to (I dont), but because I like to. I like the way that it feels to drive, I like the IRS and rwd, I like the stying, and I love how roomy it is for a two door car. I couldnt care less how old it is...

  • @wotan20 I can actually see quite a few reasons why anyone could want to drive that Toronado. It appears to be comfortable, relatively luxurious, get good fuel economy, and have a pretty sweet stereo. I wouldnt mind that car for a long trip or highway commute, not at all.

  • @conman5304

I agree, and I add the fantastic feeling in owning an inexpensive vehicle, the certainty that the car is fully paid. ☺ (That is, it's mine, not the bank's to repossess it, whenever I've fallen behind a few payments).

  • @wotan20 Yeah exactly. Its a nice feeling driving a $25000 car, that you only paid $2500 for. Once a nice car, always a nice car.

  • cassette stereo.... wtf is that?

  • love the shifter!

  • Technology back in 1988 is surprisingly good to me.

  • @calfss031106 I agree. =)

  • lol those american cars in the old days all looked the same in the interior

  • Holy crap that shifter is awesome from 1988!!!!!!

  • @TJC450 no that's how the Buzzers were back then lol. My aunts 92 camaro has a buzzer like that.

  • Do the red Dakota next to the toronado plz. I notice u don't have one on ur channel. Thanks!

  • vehicles are interesting in this lot :)

  • The shifter!! :O

  • I think the buzzer had a hard time of understanding what to do lol

  • the dash looks futuristic compared to other models of the day

  • kyle can you post something on july 8 its my 13th birthday

  • My neighbor had one like this, except it was red.

  • R.I.P. Oldsmobile

  • These cars are cool.

  • i love these older cars

  • A bad year for glue?

  • That door chime sounds like when your tv goes out with the bars or different colors!

  • Good review Kyle! If you come across one, can you do a review of the 2005-07 Honda accord hybrid? Thanks

  • Nice car. I always wanted one of these.

That key chime or whatever that was, must be broken. They couldnt have made it that annoying intentionally. lol Good video as usual Kyle. Thanks for featuring another car from my childhood.

  • that shifter is cool

  • Thanks for the video Kyle. It is appreciated. I have a Toronado. It is a 1992. It was the one after that one when they upsized it and redesigned the car. It was also the last year.

  • either that fuel gauge is broken (which is kinda hard on a digital IP) or it seriously needs gas!

  • The key chime sounds like the emergency alert tone you hear on the radio.

  • @DrJohnBecker thats why its called the tornado

  • ANNOYING BUZZER!

  • @maggio211It sounds like the Emergency Broadcast System tone Lol.

  • wow that things quite and the shifters cool

  • it looks really nice for a 23 year old car.

  • i never knew a 1988 had a oil change light

  • the shifter on this is awesome

  • Wow i swear i was calling it the Tornado until he opened the hood and said Toronado lol

  • @Thesuperblack22 Most people say TornAHdo lol.. Some people say TornAYdo lol.. Hardly anyone calls it Toronado

  • @sths0609 Ahhh ok

  • look like a mix with cool and stupid features on the car

  • I sometimes dream of a world where Saturn, Pontiac and Oldsmobile were still in the GM line up.

  • ugliest damn car ever but cool shifter

  • When I hear that seat-belt tone, I think of the TV with those multicolored vertical bars when there is a signal down.

  • not a bad car i like the older toronados tho
