  • Does this make your hair hard?

  • which eco styler gel are you using?

  • @MissBriiSocialite Olive Oil

  • both results are cute....thanks for being our human hair demonstrator..... :)

  • Very nice video, how long do you make the finger coils method last as a style?

  • @HoneyBee277 Well (then) use to last me about 4 to 5 days. But I no longer do this style now that my hair is longer...

  • For those who are experiencing crunchy hair from your gel, try applying pure coconut oil under your gel. Hope it works for you ladies.

  • You really have patience lol

  • I actually have just starting trimming my ends when it has twisted. I have done this 2 times in the last 2 weeks and the frizz has improved considerably!

  • Great video.

For those who are new to using gels: I use Cantu Leave-in (small amount) under my gel. It may get a little white but dries clear. You can also try Infusium23 and/or SoftSheenCarson's Care Free Curl in the yellow (not gold) bottle which is a glycerin and protein spray. I'm from a small town so straight glycerin is hard to come by.

  • Thanks for this vid!! It was great to see both methods at one time to see a direct difference. I have used the racking method and it can be hit and miss for me with curl definition. But I luv'd the spring/coil method. I may try that after I take down my finger coils which took all day yesterday! *sigh* was my first time! I've gotten pretty good at 2 strand twists.

I'm at a "hate hair" moment now...it's growing, bit so coily/curly to the root n frizzy on the ends!!! UGH!

  • I completely understand what your going through. I went through that and I still do every now and then. I have eased up on the use of gel's a whole lot. My regimen sorta changed a bit which is why I need to make a update vid. Its funny things I used to do in the beg. doesn't work as well for me now, that my hair has gotten longer....lol...But the frizzy ends may be a sign of needing a trim. When was your last trim?

  • Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Your hair is gorgeous! How long did you transition?

  • WHAT KIND OF CAMERA ARE YOU USING?

  • I have a cannon SD 780 IS

  • I actually already did the rake and smooth method, wow, I never knew that what i did was an actual method lol

  • lol...

  • Great vid, I like the finger coil best...Love Esperanza in the background!

  • Thanks you. Yea she's soo dope!

  • You are too cute!!! like a kewpie doll

  • Thanks lady. I absolutely love, love your vids. Your hair is so fab. and you always have good music playing in the background. I wanna raid you music files....lol

  • Oh I'm sorry it didn't work for you. Well keep searching. That's what its about finding what works for you. Good luck!

  • Hi there,

I did what you did...and really hated it. My hair came out crunchy and felt like straw...yuck....hahahha...this is something I will NOT do again...I will keep looking..hahhah

  • UrbanDoll330, I just discovered the Eco Styler gel with olive oil. I saw ShidaNatural's video and went to Sally's to get it. I mix glycerin and Alberto VO5 Free Me Freesia Moisturizing conditioner to use under the gel. The conditioner does foam up but it dries clear. The hold is nice and soft, not crunchy. So far I am really loving this gel. Thanks for the coiling tips.

  • Oh cool. I got the olive oil Eco as well, and I'm not super impressed with it. I think I'm still struggling to find a leave-in conditioner that works well under this gel. Everything I use leaves a white foam in my hair and it drives me nuts :~( I should try using the glycerin underneath and see how that works. Do you mix the two together before applying the gel?

  • I think you should try the glycerin underneath the gel. Im talking about straight glycerin without water mixed with it. I like it that way I got the idea from NappyChronicles. She also applies it under her gel. She says that it helps her a lot too. I have not tried it with glycerin mixed in with the gel but i think I will try it that way too.

  • UrbanDoll330, Guess what? The olive oil EcoStyler gel is no longer working for my hair. It dried out my hair like crazy and it left a white residue. I am fed up with my hair now. So tired. For the first time in a long time I feel like giving up. I need a good leave in conditioner and a gel that will define my curls without drying out my hair and leaving white residue. Maybe I will try kierone1's idea with a different gel.

  • I completely feel you. That is one of my pet peeves and it's a pain. lol...unfortunately for me in my experience this gel does leave my hair crunchy, I'm still trying to figure out a system

  • to keep it from being crunchy i scrunch in a moisturizer, i know its pricey but the miss jessies buttercream is a GREAT moisturizer or just rub ur fav contioner

  • I did those finger coils on my niece's hair today. It came out nice. It took like an hour. But this is like the only way hair curls will be defined. Her hair is maybe 4b so it was worth it.

  • Aww bet she looked pretty. I'm glad you found this method helpful!

  • for the leave on, i mix the conditioner, glycerin, and the oils, use a dab of shea butter, with a towel just dab the excess off hair, and apply the Eco....thats been working for me for about two and a half weeks now..i also don't use shampoo but baking soda and that seems to make my coils and waves pop out more...if the Lord releases me to do so, i plan on making a you tube video as well just to show the progress...thanks for writing me back...

  • Oh that would be great. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • don't kill me!! lol.....i tried an experiment and so far for over two weeks, its been working....i mixed some v05 strawberries and cream condtioner with some glycerin, filtered water, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, and some olive oil,, i put this on after i co wash in the shower, along with a dab of shea butter...THEN i use the eco styler and the results are great....i just take a towel and slightly dab whatever white spots are there, and this is working quite well for me......i will keep you posted

  • No it's totally cool. I love the feedback. Thank you for sharing. Now do you mix all of that in a container or do you put it on separate?

  • Girl I'm havin the SAME issue....I used the Giovanni Leave-in under the Eco Styler/OO gel...left white chucks all over! Ugh...

  • Yea sucks. Have you tried using an oil under instead? I'm still working on conditioners to use under neath. I have a couple that a few ladies suggested.

  • I find that my hair needs a serious leave-in! oil doesn't moisturize for me...but thanks for the suggestion! When you discover a leave-in that works...do a vid! if i find one b4 u do i'll let you know! Thanks girl

  • No problem. I definitely if I find one. do let me know if you find one. Thanks lady!

  • hey urban..you can also try "The Conditioner" from paul mitchell, but go to sally's and get the knock off GVP...that works prettty good to....keep me informed....right now im looking for a deep conditioner..i got burt's bees with shea and grapefruit...im going to try in a few min (lol)...

  • Ok I definitely will. How was the burts bees shea & grapefruit. I need a deep conditioner as well. Keep me posted on it :o)

  • I love the results on the tighter side but oh my goodness I couldn't do it, it takes a lot of time to get those great results but it looks so nice I see why you do it. Oh and I also use the ECO I love it.

  • Yea I know it takes so long to do. I love the results but I get so lazy. I don't do it as often now that my hair is getting longer. I'm glad you like the results :) Eco is a good gel and you get a lot for the price which is always good.

  • hey urban,,you know if you want to go a little natural with the conditioner, you can also use giovanni direct leave in...now what you have to do (this is what i do), when you apply it, take a towel and dab the excess (or the white part) and then apply the gel......but what ever you are using , it seems to be working well for you...and thats another reason not to go back to kinky curly because the longer our hair gets, the more product we will need..just not economically smart for kinky curly :)

  • Hey Lisa, I do used giovanni direct leave in. I love that conditioner. Only problem is it didn't really work well under my gel, I may try using less and see if it works or wait a while before applying the gel. I think I'll try your method ;) I know exactly how you feel about keeping it simple and cheap. Kinky curly isn't exactly cheap. :o)

  • Your hair texture and length reminds me of my own:) I'm still trying to figure out my hair type, what's yours? NICE VIDEO, it helped a lot

  • lol...I am to. Girl I have no idea what it is. I never bothered to figure it out. My hair has like two different textures though. Thank you so much. Glad that you enjoyed!

  • GREAT INSTRUCTIONS!!!!! THANKS

  • Thank you. Your welcome!

  • Good job! I'm still trying to get the hang of the 'rake & smooth" method. The finger twirl would take forever on my big head, but I might just do it in the front for a nice bang. Thanks for the tutorial.

  • lol....I know. The finger twirl takes for ever on my head also. Don't feel bad. Your welcome!

  • great job girlfriend!!!! my hair is still in the "short stage", but growing to the point where i have to put it in a puff, or wear a head band because its in that in between stage...but remember try the v05 and the infusium leave in conditioners...that works for me when using the eco styler gel......God bless

  • Thanks mama. I have tried the infusium 23. I like it. Works well. I haven't tried V05 yet but I will! God Bless you as well :~)

  • Thank you -- I'm heading to the shower to try this style now. The rake and curl method since I have to go to work. Thanks for making this tutorial. P.S. Love your hair~)

  • lol...I hope it works for you. Let me know how it turns out ;) Thank you so much!

  • Your welcome. I'm glad that it worked for you and you like it. Yay! :~) Thanks for watching lady!

  • So I called myself doing the curl and twirl method but ended up with finger coils LOL!! Anywho will be posting a video soon!

  • Thank you so much for doing this video! I usually do the twirling method but I have never tried the rake and smooth. I think I'll give that a try because I want to have a bit more length :)

  • Your very welcome. Thanks for watching. I hope the rake and smooth method is easier and quicker for you :o) Let me know how u like it ;o)

  • Great video!

I've been using KCCC for a while, but decided to try the Eco Style gel this week. Yesterday, I only used the eco style for the front and back of my hair for the pony puff. Today, I put it through the entire head, and have it all out. Parts of my hair are still wet, but so far, so good with the results.

  • What kind of camera do you have?..Love your tutorial...girl your hair is really growin**and you got curl definition w/o gel!!.. lol...i commend the women who section...I am too impatient for that!!!...but after seeing both sides i do see that the grab and twirl did make your curls tighter...Thanks for sharing*

  • Great video lady! Thanks for sharing. Gorgeous hair!

  • Thanks lady :o)
