From West to East Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate

please could you tell me the year you were first in Berlin,I arrived there on around the 30th may 1962,i was 1 of 50 soldiers tranfiered to the Welch Regt,at Brooke Barracks Spandau,Berlin,our duties were,Train Guard, through the corridor to Hanover,Gaurd duty on Spandau Prison while Rodolph Hess, and Von Speer were serving their jail term,Guard duty on the russian war memorial,and around the Brandenburg Gate,Guard duty and border patrol in the, Icekela,i have not spelt that correctly so forgive

The first time I was in Berlin was on the evening of 28 August 1982 en route to Poland from Cologne.

Although Spandau Prison was open for another five years, I never saw it. By then of course only Hess was in it.

Served in Berlin from may 1962-1964,done guard duty on the gate,and on the russian war memorial further down from the brandenburg gate.i went back in 2008 for a few days visit.

It must be nice experience to go through it now if you had the experience to be there when there was an actual division.

What an experience! Of course I have done this many times before but this was the first time I filmed it!
