The beginning was the most exhilarating part, and you could really see the emotion in his eyes. Bravo Chopin for this lovely piece, and bravo to you, sir, for playing it so exquisitely.
this interpretation is great, clear and easy to learn but i still love YundiLi's best, though i can not play that well...i prefer it to be more graceful
I like this video, not because it's such a great interpretation, but because of the slower speed. The accents on the notes from measures 17 until 24 are missing (melody should be on the high notes) ...
However it shows the piece in a different perspective .. still impressive to watch :-)
In my opinion a lot better than the Jung Lin performance ... that is way too fast. Double as fast doesn't make it double as beautiful, on the contrary ... I dislike how Jung Lin plays it :-)
Amazingly Chopin hated this song. After he was done composing it he never played it again and despised the song...weird I don't know how you couldn't like it, yet he manages to hate it.... Chopin must of had some intense emotions...
I really love to listen and watch you play my favorites. I watched over and over again almost everyday. I have a request. Is it possible if you can play Tchaikovsky Romance in F minor, Op. 5 ? I am dying to see a great pianist to play this song. I could not find any great player on youtube I'd like to listen to great melodies and watch the fingers movements.
Yes, Mgfryan, all too often the pianist, afraid that he will be regarded as a technical weakling if he takes a broad tempo, turns lovely passagework into a facile smear of mediocrity. A bit slower, but with crystal clarity, and the mundane becomes the magnificent. Josef Hofmann, whose fingers were the cleanest and fastest of any pianist who has yet lived, said exactly the same thing: "Clarity rather than speed produces brilliance at the piano." And Tzvi understands this secret to its core.
Wonderful, marvelous, Tzvi! Absolutely top-notch, as good as the Fantasie-Impromptus by the "big names". I can't tell you how impressed I am by this seamlessly beautiful performance, which makes us aware that the piece is one long, passionately etched singing line. It's as good as Yundi Li's and much better than all the others - crystal clarity combined with a wartm, rich sound is the blueprint for success in this piece, and you nailed it. Bravissimo!
0:55 and 0:57, LOVE how you hit those base chords & octaves. NO one brings that out except you. In fact, I didn't even know that was even there, and I've heard this piece 1,000 times and am also working on it (although not there yet). Very unique, and quite good.
VERY VERY TRUE. 1 reason why i keep coming back to tzvi's recordings are because of his base chords and octaves. No one brings out the chords better than tzvi.
This interpretation is excellent for anyone trying to learn to play this piece. Every note is distinctly articulated, and the speed is not as prohibitive to detailed listening as other interpretations I've heard. (I'm not a critic of high speed performances - they can be very impressive, but not so helpful to us mere mortals trying to learn!)
LIstent to that base roar. Sheer POWER! You make me regret ever selling my Bosendorfer. What a beautiful instrument. And you play it so wonderfully. I learn from your videos by watching your fingering, even tone, and clarity. I've changed my way of practicing by watching you. I'm trying to use the metronome more so that I can try to play like this. Absolutely stunning . . .
It's intelligent, complex, serious and playful at the same time, dramatic and melancholic yet uplifting, it's hard to capture the complexity of this melody, it's brilliant, i love especially the cantabile part.
