Anteaters can be vicious. Giant anteaters in particular are also called "ant bears", and FOR GOOD REASON. Those claws are made for cutting into anthills and bark--just like those of a bear. And they will happily rear up on their hind legs and cut your soft skin up into spam without trouble. In fact, a giant anteater in an Argentinian zoo mauled and killed her caretaker. The tamandua, or the "lesser anteater" as Jack called them, isn't much nicer. My point? Be very careful with these guys!
